I often drive from gas station-to-station looking for someone to assist me with pumping gas into my Honda Accord. Sometimes, people are super willing to help :-). Unfortunately, most gas stations are no help at all :-( --- less than cooperative! So I drive on to the next station.... However, at this 76 Gas Station Lacy and her team of cashier's are always on point! :-) Willing to assist! Driving from Monterey into San Jose or the Central San Joaquin Valley -- and back to Monterey... I'm not even sure this is legal based on the 1985 settlement suit in CA, i.e., "In any case, merchants are not allowed to mislead customers, such as by falsely advertising a lower price than they actually charge or hiding any differences between credit card, debit card, and cash prices. If a merchant fails to clearly and prominently disclose before you pay or seek to pay for an item what it will charge for the item, including any additional fees, that may violate California laws prohibiting deceptive or false advertising. The pumps say to pay inside. Must be a safety decision I think. So I grab my purse and climb out of a tall rented truck. Walk to the door--and find a printed note taped to the door that says to pay at the pump. No way to buy gas. Thanks for wasting my time, Chevron 8695 Prunedale. What I don't know is whether this is a regular nightly practice or if it's an "unusual occurrence." I'm posting the pics. Doesn't look like a hurried "we've had an emergency" kind of note that might indicate a one-time closure. Stop at your own risk.

Chevron guy was super nice about helping me with this, and at such a reasonable price it wasn't even worth waiting for AAA (which I have). Today I saw they added Food! I got the lamb + beef wrap & loaded fries. The fries themselves has a light seasoning on the outside which made them so delicious. Salt? Garlic? What is this cream? Feta cheese?! YES please. My lunch companion said "I don't like this kind of cheese" then proceeded to scarf most of the fries. Id sat that's a good sign. The wraps were made to order, and had a clean taste with nice crispy veggies. nom nom nom. Another random tip, but for the Chevron side: Their air compressor is THE best in the area. Always works, and fills super fast! Important for those things you roll your life around on. And don't forget to enter your Safeway # before you pump that gas! :)

This service station has plenty of potential. There are a few things that really irritate me…read morethough. Let's start by stating that this has not been a 76 in YEARS. Likely since the one review they have was done 10 years ago. They do have e85 which is honestly my sole motivation for frequenting this location. Even if it is the highest priced in a 25 mile radius. E85 is still less than $4.00 a gallon and who wants to pay $5-$6.00 a gallon right now? They recently redid the carwash here. Unfortunately I was less than impressed with the effectiveness of it on the two attempts I made to have my vehicle cleaned. It may have improved since 2 months ago. Idk. Inside they have a good variety of snacks from the stuff dentists dreams are made of to some semi healthy options. Good variety of beverages as well. My beef is with the complete lack of pricing ANYWHERE and the fact I don't get charged the same price if I come in on different days. This is a local neighborhood stop so you can expect to find "fresh T's" of different colors, flags to show your affiliation, hoodies, and other things that really remind me of growing up in the 90's. But again, no clear pricing on anything. The staff I have interacted with have been mostly friendly-ish. Not rude. I also hit this place up after hours half of the time. I would go inside more if there were just prices on things. I will update their photos when I come in and am not going to annoy a bunch of other customers.
