I know funny and this ain't it! The worst "comedy show" I have seen since Louie Anderson (see…read morereview). Wow, we would have gotten up and left but were stuck in the middle of a row 15 chairs deep on each side, ugh. The seating is horrible, uncomfortable chairs crammed together in rows so that you are on top of each other and stuck once seated. This one woman that crossed over us twice obviously had a bladder problem or was bored out of her mind as well! Don't get drinks unless you just won a jackpot and could care less that a drink will run you $15-25. The comic line up does vary by week. Pretty much whoever will take the gig at that moment in time, mostly comics who don't work very often. On my night was a bunch of no names that I had never heard of. This night the theme was fat jokes. Don't waste your time or money.

Yes, there were supposed to be Playboy playmates (only ones I noticed were not very mobile in giant posters on the walls). Yes, the line of sights were not perfect if you arrived late and was seated all the way in the back. No, you are not normal if you went to ANY set here from the Cort McCown-curated mini-residences and found them unfunny. One particular show will always stick out in my head and it was one that coincided with a UFC event that was held in The Pearl. After a few of the regular openers performed, quite competently as always, some of the Deathsquad members started being surprise guesting, like Ari Shaffir, Joe Rogan (who went on for like a fucking hour!) and legendary Dom Irrera. Yes, the same Dom Irrera that is on the Comedy Central's top 100 stand-up comedians of ALL-TIME list. Uh, how the fuck can one be jaded after that experience? When I started reading in the RJ that Playboy Comedy was going away, I got pretty disappointed. Luckily, it was rebranded, quite abruptly and without much fanfair, to another property and seemingly the headliners started being heavier names that brought in more asses to the seats. Dom Irrera was brought in again to headline his own nights at Empire Comedy, where we went to see him again. Cort McCown is doing a great thing here with Playboy/Empire Comedy, and anyone who says otherwise cannot be trusted in regards to reviewing comedy because they probably will never like any stand-up, incl. but not limited to most of Absinthe, and yet are probably gigantic fans of 'The Cable Guy' Lenny or whatever-the-fuck his name is. - E Postscript. Like all Vegas shows that I have been to, there is no compulsory REQUIREMENT to buy drinks like you may find in other comedy clubs in the country, e.g. LA, Phoenix.

If you're driving, parking can be a little tricky. Enter off Las Vegas Blvd through the Harrah's…read moreentrance, stay to the right, and follow the signs for The Linq Hotel & Casino. You'll go through an underground tunnel with a few twists and turns before reaching the parking gate, where you can pull a ticket. Once parked, head through the Casino towards O'Shea's and exit onto The Linq Promenade. Take a left and walk to the end -- the venue will be on your left as you head toward the High Roller. I'd recommend giving yourself a solid 10-15 minutes to park and walk over. It was a Tuesday night, so getting in was quick and easy. There's a security guard at the door who will wand you for weapons. One thing to note: the venue doesn't have its own restrooms. The nearest bathrooms are three doors down the promenade. I'd suggest going before you enter, because if you leave and come back, you'll have to go through security again. The main showroom is upstairs, and seating is hosted based on your ticket type. I was flying solo this time, and they let me sit right up front (luckily, I wasn't called on stage). They have waitresses and bar staff serving cocktails and bar food. The venue itself is large and open, with more of a club vibe than a traditional theater. Michael Yo was excellent -- very clean, sharp, and genuinely funny. Since he's a local Summerlin resident, don't forget to support local talent!

We were not late; we were given drink coupons by the receptionist at the front, which could only be used at the downstairs bar. By the time we got our drinks and made it upstairs, our seats had already been taken. When we asked to speak with the manager, a rude young woman named Jilly informed us that it was their policy and claimed it was written on the ticket, which it is not. When we requested proof, she simply walked away and never returned. This kind of behavior is unacceptable, and I believe she should be fired. If I do not receive a refund for the difference in ticket prices, I will be filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. Luenell was good. This poor review is only for the venue and customer service.

The host for the night was HILARIOUS, making jokes off the people in the front row like Chop Towbin AKA King of Cars! The opening act for Jimmy O. Yang was even funnier, and then for the main event - Jimmy O. Yang had me LAUGHING HYSTERICALLY! I hope one of his shows from the tour ends up on Netflix or Amazon! Some tips for first-timers to the theater: 1. Follow the signs for "The Mirage Theater." Aces of Comedy is in the back (like wayyy back of Mirage). It is pretty much a diagonal B line from the parking garage to the theater. 2. The entry process was a breeze. They scanned our electronic tickets and voila, you're in. All the employees were super nice and guided us right to our seats. 3. The theater is a good, intimate size. Stick with section 102 seats and you can't go wrong. The seats slope upward from the stage. We were in the orchestra section, EE 9 and 10, which was pretty dead center to the stage. To me, these seats were PERFECT and would be the seats I would want to get again! 4. The smell of movie theater popcorn will lure you! Fortunately, I practiced self-restraint as I knew I would be getting popcorn all up in the air as I laughed! Go to the Aces of Comedy and get your LAUGH ON!!! :)

When I found out he'd be performing at the Mirage Casino the same time I was going to be in town, it was a no brainer. I had to go. Fluffy had Martine Moreno and Alfred Robles open up for him and they were amusing but Gabriel was the reason I was there. It was a different kind of show because he shared a lot of personal stuff about what he has been going through recently. I can't imagine how difficult it is to go on stage and entertain an audience with humor when some really heavy changes are happening. Don't get me wrong, the show was hilarious for the most part but really touching as well. I don't want to spoil anything for you before you see him or his next comedy special coming soon. It will be different. Now the venue. The room is just large enough to fit a good size crowd but not so big that sight lines are affected or that you lose that sense of intimacy with the performer. Due to my current mobility issues I required some ADA assistance and the staff really delivered overall. There is a phone number you can call to have security meet you at the north entrance by registration and they will provide you with a wheelchair and wheel you to the theater which is a good distance from the self park garage. The security personnel was very friendly and never made me feel as if it was an inconvenience for them. They brought me up the elevator all the way to my seat upstairs. The staff member in charge at the theater was so sweet and accommodating. She made checking in with my mobile tickets a breeze and provided information on how I would be escorted back to the north entrance after the show was over. Be aware it takes a lonnng time for them to send someone to help you though, before and after the show. ADA seating was very comfortable with wide rolling seats and lots of open space. Even though the seats are in the last row, the view was excellent. Important note: the ushers are hardcore (even the older ladies) and will have you thrown out for talking too loud or yelling at the performers or even worse, recording the show on your phone. They may look like grannies but they will come at you like a pit bull if you act stupid or break the rules. Granny don't play dat'.
