Went here four different times. Twice for an issue with the AC, this was for my teenage daughters car. We were told that the AC was fixed and it wasn't, blew air but not not cold air. Called and was told not to add anything or touch anything because it was under warranty. Brought it in " under warranty" with no charge as long as we didn't touch anything, he was very pushy about that. Was told today that they would still charge us $21 to look at the AC since the thing that was causing the issue isn't what they fixed, was quoted $250 for the "fix", which is probably what should have been fixed the first time. Last time we were there they got okay to fix the car by some number that wasn't even mine. The mechanic hinted at doing work on the side. Guessing that's where he actually fixed the problem instead of charging you hundreds to fix something that wasn't broken. This place has one mechanic who clearly is scammy and incompetent. read more

Poor handling of a problem. I took one of my vehicles to Moats for repair and they did a good job. We've had several good experiences with them. Finished on time, work well done, price as quoted. So far, so good. When we picked up the vehicle, we noticed the windshield was damaged from what appeared to be some type of impact. (It was not damaged when we took it in.) My son noticed the damage as he was leaving the lot and circled back to the garage to report it. The attendant, granted not the owner, simply the gas station attendant, and it was a weekend, was anything but attentive, but eventually did take our message although he refused our request to call someone who might discuss the issue. After 20 minutes of mostly being ignored, we left a message and awaited a call back. The message we left was, we have some damage, it appears to have happened here, we don't know how, do you have any ideas?. Now the problem. After receiving no response, we finally called again to see if we could discuss. We took a non-accusatory approach, simply reporting what we knew and asking what they might know. From the outset, the owner took what can only be described as a violently defensive position, and he communicated it aggressively and rudely, saying, "I have watched the tapes and I saw nothing we did, and I stand by my mechanic, and I'm not paying for anything!". Surprise. Not that I had asked him to pay for anything, I was trying to have a conversation. He then hung up on me as I tried to respond, mid-sentence, and that was the end of it. We have a $100 deductible and it was not the end of the world, however his rude and defensive handling of the situation made me conclude that it would be my last trip to his business. I've since heard a similar story from another customer. My recommendation after that experience is that you go elsewhere. read more

Everyone recommended I take my car here for some normal maintenance- back in June of 2023. The mechanic mistakenly never wrote my rescheduled time down. Financial reasons kept me from again, rescheduling. Fast forward to September: car STILL needs work done. My dad had called to make another appt- I made arrangements to drop it off this past Sunday. Monday morning, I get a call from Hector- why is my car there???? What? Again- had to clear that up w the owner! My car is apparently done being worked on- I pick it up, and as I drive away, the squealing is even worse than before. Grrrr! I held it together- but drove it right back to the shop- and apparently "Hector" was unaware of the noise- and I had to leave my car there, AGAIN. Next day, it's completed- I made arrangements to pick it up. I had a credit card that for some reason, only covered everything BUT about $15.06. I didn't really have that money- but my ride needed to go get to a very important Dr appt. They would NOT let me take my car bc of $15.06- after ALL the hassle this took, on MY part- even after a phone call to owner- NOPE- can't take my car. I lost it immediately, which I rarely do. As a manager for a business- I know that that $15.06 could have easily been either a write off, or even a gesture for everything we have been through with THEIR lack of communication. Really??? Gave them too many chances- but the fact they were so ridiculous over a measly $15.06- they've lost a customer, but I hope to stare my personal experience to help others with their decision of where to take their car!!! Dishonest! TLDR: owner's son tried to rip us off then told us off when confronted about it. Went in for an inspection, was told by Tyler, the owners son, that the vehicle would need new brakes new rotors to pass inspection. I was quoted $350. My husband is handy with vehicles so he replaced them himself. When he took off old brakes and rotors, he discovered that the brakes and rotors still had plenty of miles left in them. When we went back to finish the inspection, we brought the old parts with us to ask why they failed inspection. The mechanic on duty at that time (Hector) measured the brakes and rotors and said that they should have passed inspection the first time around. When my husband spoke to Tyler on the phone after the inspection was finally complete, Tyler said he failed the brakes and rotors due to brake shake. My husband was not pleased with that answer, and told Tyler that was an unacceptable excuse, since there was no "brake shake" before we brought the car in initially. Tyler got loud, my husband got loud, and ended with my husband telling Tyler we will not be bringing our vehicles here for service again. Tyler said, "Good! I don't want customers like you!" I would give zero stars if I could. Save your money and go elsewhere. read more

Come here for gas. One Time I killed my battery I need to jump in and went right to moat auto repair to see whether or not I need a new battery. The gentleman looked at my car told me I was fine and didn't charge anything for his consultation. read more

My car was making a weird noise took it close by to get it checked out told me it would cost around 3k to fix. Decided to get a second opinion from someone I trust but farther away and had no clue what moats auto repair was talking about. DISHONEST. Trying to get people money. Never again. Don't recommend. I had a nail in my tire and the mechanic came over and helped me within a few minutes. The men working were extremely kind to me and charged a fair prince. I also went here to get gas, and as someone from Jersey I really appreciate a full service gas station! read more
