Kole was super kind in giving us a tour of the lavender garden, where we harvested our own bunch. He also introduced us to the horses, mules, and chickens. He was the same age as my kids, so they had fun talking and laughing. We also saw quail, honey bees, and the cutest bumble bees. The ranch is situated in a hidden pocket of the foothills. The drive to get there off the 395 is simple and beautiful, and also near the Alabama Hills. I'm so glad we visited. There was no one else there. It was so nice and peaceful. Definitely well worth the trip if you're passing through.

Leaving the park and heading into Three Rivers, there stood an adorable red and white "chalet" of delights where we could have some ice cream next to the dancing waters of the Kaweah River. We entered the ice cream shop, the furthest to the right when viewed from Hwy 198(Sierra Dr.), and were immediately hit with the aroma of their freshly made waffle cones and bowls. After reviewing their in-house made ice cream flavors, my friend opted for Blueberry Pomegranate Gelato and Three Rivers Wild Blackberry in a waffle bowl and I chose the Wild Blackberry and Raspberry Cheesecake for my waffle bowl. We made our way through the gift shop, the furthest building to the left, and out to sit on the covered deck, where 2 red Adirondack chairs waited for us. For me, enjoying an ice cream treat whilst sitting on the back deck overlooking the river is a part of visiting Sequoia. Reimer's opened this flagship location in 1956 and it's a special place where hand made confections, created with the finest ingredients and proudly displayed, are offered alongside delicious ice cream, sherbet and gelato, with seasonal flavors highlighting local fruits, like our wild blackberry this day. The gift shop carries some local items featuring Sierra motifs, in case you need one last souvenir from your trip. Sparkling ornaments and decorations are available all year and add to the happy and festive nature of this classic gem of a roadside stop. The ice cream hit the spot, but the waffle bowl is a true standout. I don't know the secret recipe, but notes of vanilla hit my nose and hints of cinnamon danced on my tongue. SO good! They cracked open with ripeness! There was a really adorable little hay stack enclosed section where they had the larger size pumpkins located. There were corn stalks, small pumpkins, gourds, and a scarecrow. Adorable; my nephew and I had fun picking out a pumpkin in the cordoned off haystack area. They also offer fresh honey, dehydrated fruits, bagged nuts and tons of produce. The woman operating it was friendly and patient with us as we hemmed, hawed and guffawed at the options available. I walked in to see their cheese factory and was surprised by their different flavors of cheddar. I like dairy products but dairy products don't like me, so I didn't pick anything up this time. The petting zoo was the most intriguing to me. Most of the animals were excited to be fed while others were just hanging out in the shade. Their enclosures looked a little small for them though. There was only one rabbit who was hiding away in their little house. It looked like it could use some grass to hop around in. I wish the hand sanitizer dispensers were filled. Every single one was empty, but I eventually found the restroom to wash off. I noticed there's a dog park here too. I'm hoping I could come back here with my dog during our next road trip. I'm sure he'd enjoy this change of scenery.
