Submitted application for a rental home first, paid application fees first and yet someone else got the property because "their approval" came first. I had an experience where a monthly rent payment was returned to the bank due to insufficient funds. This NSF payment was made by the parent of my son's previous roommate that had moved out and not been on the lease for 3 months. Apparently the parent forgot to remove their payment information from their portal, and the account they were using to make payments had been closed. Because of this error on the part of someone not even living at or associated with the property, a NSF charge was levied and I now will be unable to pay the rent each month with my bank account (since there have been 2 NSF payments on the account, the other also being due to banking issues with the other parent's account). My options for payment are now only cashier's check or credit card (with a 3% processing fee). I called and spoke with the owner of MMC and he was unwilling to see this as an extenuating circumstance and make an exception to his company's policy for me and my son. read more

I have lived in Northfield Lodge Apartments for 7 years. Never once have I been late. I put my 60-day notice in on 2/28/23. I was dogsitting for 10 days after I submitted my letter, along with my rent for March 2023. I got home to a note on my door stating that I owed NSF charges because my payment did not go through, but came back as a stopped payment. They also wanted me to pay a late fee. Since I had never been late before, they knocked off the late fee, and I paid the NSF charge with a money order/cashier's check. I talked with my bank and they said that there was no record or indication that the apartments had even tried to deposit the check. I then gave them a check for $1,500 for my buy-out fee, as per the lease agreement. The manager informed me that she may wait until the first of the month to deposit it, which I agreed was fine. We agreed that she would call if it did not go through, as I had plans to be away for a few days after the first of the month. When she attempted to do so, it came back as a stopped check. The manager called me to inform me of this. I called my bank again and asked if there was a flag against my apartments, to which my bank stated there was none. I returned to the apartment office with two cashier's checks, one for $920 for the month of April and $1,500 for the buy-out fee again. I do not understand how, after 7 years of faithful payments, after I put my 60-day notice in, how all of this starts happening. I was willing to give the apartments the benefit of the doubt in March, but for it to happen again in April is not a coincidence, in my opinion. These are the cheapest apartments in the area, and there is a reason. My dishwasher went out and they replaced it with another used and rusted one that has already broken once. My apartment has not been renovated since I moved in, like many of the other apartments, but my rent would be increasing by $200-$300 if I were to have signed another lease. Also (and I know many apartments do this now), they are having people pay, not only a pet deposit upon move-in, but also monthly pet rent. I do not know how or why my checks are being "stopped," as I have never stopped a check with them before. I have more than enough money in my account to pay for both months of rent and the buy-out fee. I do not have enough money or time to keep going around in circles like this with them. I don't want/need any money back at this time, as they have not charged late fees. I do, however, want to know why, when I call my bank they tell me that there is no evidence that the apartments tried to deposit the check and there are no flags against the apartments. I also want to know why this only started happening after I put in my 60-day notice. I can safely say that, due to this experience, I will never refer someone here. I don't know if it is the manager or the company who is being shady, but this is not right. It should not be this difficult to move out of an apartment. I should not be getting punished for moving out. I will not be paying anymore money to these apartments. I have never been so ready to get out of a living situation in my life. If I could give this company less than one star I would. I rented with this company almost 6 years ago in college with roommates. Roommate in charged of paying the rent was late 11 times (had no clue) he also paid with his debt card online most of the time (which is in his name). I now 6 years later own my own home never late on a mortgage payment good credit was told I was denied due to late payments from 6 years ago with them and damage to the property. The " damages" we had were TVs hung and pictures and regular ware and tear to the carpet after being there for 2 years. We hired a cleaning service to professionally clean the town house. Also paid extra from deposit money and a pet fee that we paid up front. This just goes to show what type of people run this company in this community. Lived in Murfreesboro, at the MMC 1418 E Main St. studio apartments, for 3 years and never had issues with management or my apartment/appliances. Sure it's not the most up-to-date complex but it is very calm and comfortable & I never had any issues with payment or renting. They also have an on-site laundry mat that you can pay with your phone so that was a major help. The monthly renting prices are absurd for what you get, but they were doing major renovations to the apartments when I was moving out, so it might be worth the money now that they're re-painting, re-flooring, and adding in new appliances. read more

This is basically a slum lord company. They are awful. My roof leaked for months. Reported it several times. It ruined my sons mattress and his room could be used due to mold. The building across from mine is missing shingles since we moved in over a year ago. I am so glad we are breaking our lease early and will never have to deal with them again. I read the reviews and I am very surprised by some of the poor ratings. I am on the other side of the fence, as I am a property owner. MMC has managed my rental houses for over 10 years and I have found them to be the best around at managing properties. I had used another company before and they don't compare to MMC. Any time any of my renters has had an issue, MMC has promptly, courteously, and professionally taken care of both the renters and my property. I suspect their high standards for qualifying for rental occupancy is part of the problem some of these folks have. I can tell you as an owner, I appreciate their diligence. Perhaps my perspective is from the wrong side, but I personally have never seen anything but the utmost respect toward renters of my property. I would highly recommend them to property owners and potential renters alike. And, by the way, I am in Tennessee, not California. read more

Tracye and I lived in our home on Sunray Drive for almost five years. Hunter was always prompt with me whenever I had concerns that needed to be addressed. I did have a concern with our rent that went up a few dollars a month after the third year of our rental agreement. I wish I had talked to Hunter about that but did not. I would make a suggestion that the future tenants be made aware of an increase before the next lease is drawn up. This would simply be a courtesy. I also broke a window in one of the patio doors while mowing the yard, and MMC took care of the damage with no charge to me. Hunter worked with us near the end of our residency due to untimely situations when we were trying to sell our former home and purchase a new one in the Boro. We were not sure when our exact date would be to take ownership of our new home, and Hunter was very understanding when it came time to give our notice to move out. He made it very clear through documentation what needed to be done when leaving the property so that we could be in a position to get some of our deposit back. A word of advice to future renters is to make sure you leave it better than you found it, and we feel for the most part that we did. Hunter assured us we would get part of our deposit back, and we were truly excited about that. Sometimes, no most of the time, reviews are very negative because they are written during an emotional experience. This is unfortunate. MMC management company produces no results. Do not rent any property managed by this company, especially Saint Andrews Apartments! Run! I live in St. Andrews, but not for long. I have been having so many issues with the apartments, I'll copy and paste my termination letter. I met with the on site property manager on 1/4/16 to discuss a few things. Jessica tries to be a bully, she lied to my wife about a few issues. She could use customer service skill training. After no resolution with her, she said she would have to give the issue to her supervisor. I asked for the supervisor contact information, Mrs. Music. I left a message on 1/4 for a call back. I did not expect one, I had to try to contact her. Again, customer service skills lack. I spoke with a guy by the name of Dave. No resolution. I can't recall how many times he told me "bedbugs are difficult to kill." Dave kept telling me I can't speak on the conjecture, I was explaining some of the things that transpired. He had the unmitigated gall to tell me that I should contact Kirklands. Now, back to Jessica... She was to have Kirklands pest control come out and perform a second treatment for that issue. I was finding live bugs as late as December 29th. I contacted Stanley Steamer to come out and clean, I spent an additional +- $80 on bug killer. I am not sure what Kirklands did, however a review on them is to follow. I am not attaching pictures. Please take note of the health hazards. Here is the letter: Good Morning, We will be exiting St. Andrews by the end of our lease, January 31st. This is due to the following reasons (these only date back to September 2015): 1- We still have bed bugs. Kirkland's told us that one treatment would work. It did not. Kirkland's scratched up my bed frame, no resolution yet. Issue was reported in a timely fashion. They damaged the floor in the laundry area, as well as the dryer. Your office did not even receive documentation that it was safe to go in! $500 for that? I have not been given an update as to Kirkland's visit on the 8th. Was anything found? Was anything sprayed? 2- The issue with the human waste backing up into our master bath that I had to clean up. Yes you did accomplish getting the floor cleaner to come out and clean the carpet, on December 7th due to the maintenance guy tracking it into the bedroom. However, given the fact that the issue started on the night of December 3rd, and the office was notified on the morning of December 4th there was ample time to prevent this issue. Beginning on the 3rd, when running the washing machine, dish washer, the other shower, etc., the master toilet would fill up and overflow. It was presented on the 4th because I understand that it was "not an emergency." This was not recent waste, it was a build up of previous usage. We contacted the emergency number twice Saturday night due to the heavy volume of overflow, approximately 6 gallons of crap! Fortunately, the maintenance guy came out on Sunday and stated that whatever I did fixed the problem. Unfortunately, he was a jerk to my wife during Saturday night's phone call and on Sunday. Luckily he did not speak down to me as he did her. As a side bar- Jennifer, giving me the excuse that Linda did not know the severity is completely unacceptable. She did see photos. "Not an emergency" turned into a health hazard. Fortunately, I did not post these pics on social media nor contact the health department, nor contact a news station. 3- Going over a week without a washer, having a washer was a selling point for us. Granted, we were credited $50, but we had to hound the office for 2 weeks. 4- In September, I had to change our air filter. The air filter that was in there was packed with dust and stuff. Fortunately after I made the complaint and showed the filter to the staff member, over the next couple of days air filters were changed in the complex. 5- The compactor is constantly broken/full, this has been on most weekends. Not something we want to look out our window at. 6- We pay rent on time month after month. The quality of service over the past 6 months has been completely unacceptable. And we are not the only family that has had unresolved issues. Excuse after excuse as opposed to quality results across the board. I am attaching pictures taken just this month. As you will see, they are all date stamped. I have numerous other photos and can go on and on with this.
