My co workers and I tried finding a nice restaurant in this area; however, they were either packed or only accepted cash. We spotted Mlsnej kocour and decided to give it a try. We were seated promptly as a group. I ordered the salmon with Spinach and added potatoes. Once the food arrived I dug in. My food was nice and hot. The salmon was cooked to perfection and so was the spinach. The potatoes, not so much. The potatoes were bland and kind of undercooked. I would definitely come back to try other menu items when in Prague again. I would recommend this restaurant. read more

Stopped by after a short visit to the crowded Christmas market. Seemed like a well known place as diners had to be turned away because it was filling up with market goers. Traditional Czech cuisine with a local pub feeling. Clean and lively with local patrons. We order a few traditional dishes. See photos for details. Server was pleasant but the food took a while so I fires that's a good sign since a couple of the dishes were slow cooked. The star of the dinner was the pork knuckle. A must try when in Prague. Our hotel advised we try this for our first authentic Czech meal. He said if we like duck, their's would be excellent. I love duck and just came from Paris, so a very high bar. I loved every bit of it! Pork tenderloin was prepared perfectly medium rare. Juicy and flavorful. The sides are the typical accompaniments of dumplings. Only thing there is I wish we had much more gravy. Lots of beer choices but I stuck to the pilsner. Others had their Aperol spritz. Good authentic food for a reasonable price. read more

It's our first day in Prague, and we came across this place whilst wandering around - honestly we were attracted to it by the funky cat logo on the outside! The food was dynamite and can't recommend enough - We had the 'gratinated French potatoes with smoked and pork meat' and the 'chicken breast and roast pork in spicy vegetable salad'. I will say that the portion sizes are pretty huge, so keep in mind when you're ordering! They also do homemade lemonade which went down a treat, especially since they come in supersize mode too. As with a lot of other restaurants in Prague, prepare to eat a lot. I ordered a brie starter which I thought might be some slices of brie, maybe deep fried brie fritters, brie on bread. Nope. Out comes an entire brie. I am a cheese fiend so this did not bother me. I thought that it was supposed to come with bread and it didn't, though I decided against asking for some when I considered how many dumplings my main course might include. I failed at eating the entire cheese but what I did eat was delicious. For my main I had duck with red cabbage and a wide variety of dumplings. I love all dumplings but particularly bread dumplings. The duck was well cooked and super tasty. All in all a very tasty and filling dish. A huge bonus point about this place was that they had Fenix wheat beer which was amazing. I didn't actually see this in many other places in Prague but maybe I just wasn't going to the right places. read more

We were looking for a place to have ribs. I don't have a comparison with other places in Prague but to compare with what I had in USA (if you don't count you make them by yourself) - they were good. The taste, the meat, the sauce - all yammi. It should be 800g according the menu. They bring you 3 pieces - you think first this is not 800g but they are full of meat - so you will not starve. If you want more - have a starter. Sauerkraut cakes are deli. And another one plus for them - they have real "rezane" beer. read more

I was recommended this place at the hotel I was staying when I asked him for places to eat nearby. After my first visit I wouldn't have bothered If I had to travel an hour. The food is just straight up excellent. So delicious! I've tried three of their local dishes (duck confette, rabbit and lamb shank). I've also had one lunch there. I can strongly recommend all three dishes! The restaurant itself is nice too, but If you have to sit outside it's next too a pretty busy street. Not ideal for a romantic dinner so you should make a reservation. The size of the portions are also way above average. Especially when you conider the prices. It's my "I'm an American and I just need a big slab of bloody steak!" restaurant when I'm missing the Land Of the Free Range Beef. Even compared to spots like Crazy Cow, I'd still probably pick the Mlsnej Kocour steaks. This place gets bashed in the local English language reviews but I'm not sure it's fair. I've always been happy and the assortment is good, whether you want traditional Czech, salads and soup, or attempts at international fare. Prices are high, even considering the neighborhood, but it's stayed consistent for years. The menu hasn't changed much but they do vary up the specials. Service is good and tolerant of the English-tongued (though I'm the "try-and-order-in-Czech" type so your mileage may vary) Big perk is the ample non-smoking space but be wary, because it can be pretty full at nights during peak dinner and spirits hours. read more

Oh, I was here almost a year ago. Good food, prices are of course like in the restaurant, I prefer more "Hospody", but I liked the salad with beets and goat cheese. And dessert was also delicious. Hey, this is a good one. Especially just for hanging out with friends. It´s non smoking so that´s good. Enviroment is ok. And it´s easy to reach because it´s right at Náměstí Míru. Their cousine is focused more on meat (so burgersd and steaks) and on czech meals. So don´t expect too much of healthy cousine but what the hell. You need a big portion of meat and gravy and whatever else makes you happy, right? The beer is pretty good but only the Pilsner. Service is ok, just maybe sometimes llittle bit slow when it´s crowded but that´s ok. You just have to order beer when your glass is still half ful :-) read more

I've been here three times, the best trip was for lunch 3 months ago. I had a roasted beef with some sort of hot potato salad. It was excellent. The second time I was here, I had the pork knee, which while tasty, was not nearly as good, overall, as some other pubs in Prague. I returned today and ordered the roast beef and spicy roasted potatoes for 95 CZK. The beef was reasonably tender and the gravy was nice, though I could do with a little sautéing of the onion. The worst part was that 2/3 of the potatoes were completely inedible. Way overcooked, and not at all spicy were these leathery potatoes. I'm not sure any chef in the Czech Republic knows what the word spicy means, but this one certainly did not. As is so typical in the Czech Republic, the staff was completely unconcerned with my satisfaction. Not was I asked how I liked the meal, or for that matter, if I wanted dessert. They do have wifi (13Mb down/2Mbps up) and a few tables have a power outlet. The ambiance is quaint, and you can find people of all ages, in here enjoying their time, though I haven't seen children in here before. They did, however, provide the wifi password (KocoureK) and and English menu, so they do get credit for that. Still, a new front-of-house manager, and certainly a new chef are warranted here. Credit cards accepted if you decided you need a half-liter of their Pilsner-Urquell beer. read more

Apparently, due to a good location right at Namesti Miru, this place is full almost every evening. I cannot say it belongs to my favourites, the menu selection is not the best, and the place is usually too noisy and smoky. It's a typical Czech pub offering huge portions of heavy and rather unhealthy food, not always well-prepared. The prices are average, and the service is standard. For me personally, this bar deserves not more than two stars, but I observed that some customers are very fond of this type of places, so I give it three stars, as it's quite ok for an ordinary Czech restaurant. read more

Very nice local food, very cheap. We ate here twice and we thought local food was better than the hamburgers which were a bit bland. Stews are excellent, meat very tender. Warm cozy, traditional atmosphere. read more
