Picaya is like a high quality Earth Bounds Trading Company (are those still around?). Like a more eclectic, expensive, and small Pier 1 or World Market. Their tagline is "Many cultures... one source" - simple and fitting. It's super cozy in here, like a really awesome, worldly, and wealthy person's living room. Beautiful furniture, pillows, lamps, mirrors, hand woven baskets, bowls, wooden boxes, glass pipes, fancy candles and soaps, crystals, rugs, handmade toys and trinkets. Everything is so earthy and fragrant with vibrant colors and unique details. You could probably spend hours admiring all of these handmade goodies from around the world. Incense, spiritual decor, jewelry, wind-chimes, gorgeous wall art, kitchen tools... I didn't end up buying anything because we were only passing through and I'd already spent enough $$$, but it was definitely my kinda boutique. I wish I could fill my entire house with treasures from Picaya.

Imagine a store filled with handmade carved wooden boxes of varying sizes and uses (I own at least two just for their aesthetics), multiple incense scents to choose from, mirrors, statues of dragons and buddhas, energy crystals, hand woven rugs and old school (yet still unique) children's toys designed to amaze and delight. The place is just excellent for finding something totally unique to take home to that unlucky soul who couldn't come to Telluride for the skiing. There are plenty of things that are easily packable (and many that are easily breakable too - ask about assistance shipping fragile or larger items home, they can accommodate), and as I said, since almost all is hand made, it's all unique. Every time I go, I have to pick up something new to remember the trip by. Great find. Even if you don't want to drop any coin, it's definitely worth wandering into and poking around - you never know what treasure they'll have.

What a great store! Yesterday, as I was walking past on a break during a vacation work day, I…read morenoticed my favorite chocolate bar in the window and that drew me in. I didn't have time to look around, but did buy two bars and chatted briefly with the two friendly women behind the counter. Note: one bar already "disappeared" as I was working in the afternoon. ;-) Later in the day, I stopped back to check out the entire store. Again, what a great place! Lots of items that are cool gifts for either someone or yourself...and everyday items such as soaps, lotions, throw pillows, and much more! While there's a lot to love about the store, my favorite section may have been the cards. No, make that it WAS the cards! They reminded me of my favorite card store in the world, called Two Neat -- located in Mill Valley, CA. (Yelp it and you'll see why.) Needless to say, I'm surely "hooked" on Hook! ;-)

The first thing that caught my eye was a big display of delicious gourmet chocolate bars as you walk in! Yes, please! This mama can't have wine right now, so give me all the chocolate! I really loved their home decor items. I have an obsession with tablescapes and their cloth napkins, placemats, etc. were gorgeous! They have yummy smelling candles, soaps, and lotions that make great gifts as well. All in all, this is a fab spot to stop into if you're looking for a gift or unique home decor items! I also don't think it's super overly priced like some other shops in Telluride. :) I scored the cutest Christmas tree ornaments on major sale, along with tasty chocolate bars. It's safe to say that I was a happy girl. Definitely pop in here if you're roaming the streets of Telluride!

After I replied we were just looking for now she was respectful and didn't push which I always appreciate. As we browsed the store I approached her to try a few coats I liked and she was very helpful. I ended up buying a reversible coat. Checkout was simple and she gave me all the info I needed for taking care of it. Quality seems to be good and even though most things are made in Turkey it is an American Brand.

I had bought a leash from their store for my dog Zeus, and while walking him the leash broke in the…read morefollowing way: the clip slid out of place as the hole was too large - see picture. We were fortunate to notice immediately as we live on a busy street. The company responded in an unacceptable fashion offing money vs. acknowledging the fact that their products are sub-par and doing something about it. I strongly discourage anybody from purchasing any products from this company, given the danger that these products expose our pets to!

We have bought collars for the 4 Bernese Mountain Dogs we've had over the years from Alpen Schatz…read more Once, I wanted a different design and went with a different company - the decorative studs came off and the collar stretched out during play. I immediately went back to Alpen Schatz, never to stray again! These collars last for years and years and look great. When one of our dogs passed away, I wanted one of the decorations from her collar to put with her ashes. The folks at Alpen Schatz suggested one of their key rings which would have both the stud and a nice piece of leather. I attached her dog tag to the key ring and it's a perfect remembrance. Fabulous workmanship, beautiful execution, lasting design. I recommend them highly.
