Holy smokes Batman, Barnabé is just as good if not better than its competitor, Mocotó. Both…read morerestaurants are far away from the city, since both are so far and very close to each other, I give props to Barnabé though, it's right across from a police station and I constantly saw cops walking rounds, and there is plenty of parking on the street since there is a huge church and library across the street.
Food:
Torresmo (fried pork, fried pork, fried pork,)
Queijo coalho frito - (fried little dices shaped tapioca flour and fresh cheese, with guava marmalade dipping sauce)
Baião de dois - Feijão fradinho, arroz, pedacinhos de carne seca, tudo com caprichado tempero sertanejo. (like a fried rice but not fried, rice, beans, salted beef chunks, northeastern seasoning)
Escondidinho - Purê de mandioca com recheio de carne seca, requeijão e queijo coalho. (like a shepherd's pie, stuffed with pulled salted beef, covered with creamy yucca puree and soft cheese)
Food is a tad different from Mocotó, it taste homier and less industrialized (not saying that Mocotó is industrialized), prices are more affordable, service is very friendly, and food comes out quite quick! Overall this place is awesome, if you are debating which one to go, I'd say try both, but if you are short on time and want a local experience, Barnabé will not disappoint.
