The hype is real folks. The pizza my sister and I had was incredible. There are 4 very simple vegetarian pizzas on the menu.
The entire menu is in Italian with no french or English translations, so while my sister and I did the best that we could on translating what we could---our waitress was extremely helpful in helping us find the vegetarian options. Our waitress was such an angel, by the way. Very gracious, the exact right amount of attentiveness and very kind and helpful throughout the night. She definitely helped correct the nit so great impression we had when initially walking into the restaurant. (I'll talk about that at the end).
Some of the vegetarian options included a margarita pizza, and a white pizza with basil and yellow tomatoes. We opted for the vegetarian one that came with mushrooms, eggplant and tomatoes over a tomato based sauce. For such a simple pizza---it was incredibly flavorful. I'm not typically a fan of the edge crust because I get to it and am like, "awh, sad---no more toppings." This crust was not tough, not too crispy, not sought at all---just perfect. And very flavorful. The eggplants were masterfully cooked. They rated a little smoked. It was heavenly. The pizza had just the right amount of cheese on it, and the basil and mushrooms were perfect compliments to a tangy and savory sauce. I highly recommend this pizza. Even if the veggie pizzas seem simple---the flavor profiles that come through and powerful. So don't think that they are boring, because they are not.
With me gushing about this pizza---why 3 stars? The fellow we encountered when we first walked in to be seated was rude. We inquired about seating and he said, "You don't have a reservation? You can have a table outside." Mind you it was chilly enough to still need to wear a coat and scarf if dining outside. We had no problem with sitting outside we just wanted to know the situation inside. Like---is there a wait time if we wanted to sit inside, or did they have reservations booked for the rest of the night. My sister and have have lived in Dallas, New York, D.C., and LA. We are very accustom to waits of 1-1.5 hours for tables. So we were just curious.
The guy got visibly frustrated and just shrugged his shoulders and said, "we're completely full man---I don't know if people are going to leave."
Dude---simmer the hell down---it's just a damn question. Next time, we know, we'd make a reservation. But if you can't answer the one and only question we had for you without getting flustered and frustrated, you probably shouldn't be the front of house representative. Capeesh?
So---while the patio is completely delightful, the restaurant does have overhead heaters attached to the side of the building. And they just weren't hearing strongly enough to make sitting outside comfortable. I feel like other restaurants fire those heaters more strongly which makes sitting outside when it's chilly much more rather pleasant. I can definitely see how in the spring and summer, or even when it warms up during the day now---how this patio can be completely lovely. Great busy intersections that makes for lovely people watching. It just wasn't comfortable while we were there.
So anyway---4 stars on the pizza, 3 stars on *our* overall experience. read more
