So, I was thrilled to find Son Imports, where diagnostics don't involve a USB cable, and they know where to find the parts for a car that's older than some Yelpers. This is the first time I've ever written a bad review. After…read more1300 dollars spent my car is running worse. They misdiagnosed the issue and were wanting me to spend another 700 to fix wrong problem. Here is what happened. Car was running rough for about a yr. I'm disabled and grieving my only child passing away and had not been able to afford the work. So I just drove gently. I finally was able to save up some money. Well 1300 dollars worth of work later (more than the car is even worth and more than I could even afford-had to borrow money) ... after spending 1300 on crankshaft sensor and egnition misfire sensor and new spark plugs.... the car was running waaaaay worse than when I brought it in. I was then told they were absolutely certain it was the fuel injectors and I could pay them another 700+dollars to fix that. At this point I'm in debt and I've never had a car get worse after 1300 dollars of work done. The engine was loud, the car shaking, it was spitting smoke and stalled for the first time in the 10 yrs I've had it in the middle of traffic a few blocks away from the shop. So at this point I say I want a second opinion. Andy's charges 180/hr which is well above the average 150/hr average rate in Oregon. So I took my car to Maxim Automotive which has 149- 5 star reviews as being a very HONEST mechanic. He takes the engine apart to diagnose it. Only charges me 200 dollars (Andy's wanted to charge 500 for the same level of labor) and at maxim... he swaps good injector into the 1and 3 cylinder and they still aren't speaking to the engine when he does the balance test and electronically turns the cylinders on and off. He then finds that the wires are melted going to the injectors. He does a quick fix on that to see if it changes anything and the engine still isnt speaking to the perfectly good injectors. So he has now effectively done a proper diagnosis and it's clear that the injectors ARE NOT THE PROBLEM. The wires and ECU computer got fried. I would have thrown 700 on new injectors plus labor down the drain as they played guesswork and misdiagnosed the issue...when they knew I was on disability and a budget and now in debt. I was in tears I'm the shop. Plus the mechanic at Maxim found that when they put my intake manifold back on that there were several screws missing. They never told me at Andy's about missing screws... and it's still very strange that the car got soooo much worse after I spent 1300 at Andy's. And they wanted me to spend 700 more on the wrong part. They never really officially diagnosed it at Andy's... it was all just guess work. I am very disappointed that I spent 1300 dollars and the problem I wanted to address (the running rough) never got resolved and is now worse for some odd reason. A new ecu and wires for the car is easily another 2000+dollars... and the vehicle isnt worth that much. So at this point i have to cut my losses and figure out what I'm going to do. Maybe get the correct ECU & wires from the pick & pull and see if I can get a mechanic to put that in. We'll see. This was a very bad experience.

Here's the situation: We paid to park there on a monthly basis so I seen these guys/mechanics all the time. So I decided to get some work done tune-up and new tires, cost me around $1150. I wasn't trippin because they let me make 2 payments instead of one. Now here's where it goes bad...My car would come on then cut off if I didn't have my foot on the gas pedal...it had never done that. When I asked them about it, they said, "we didn't touch anything with the starter" missing the point that whatever they did caused this problem. And the tires I spent $450 on were low brand and sliding all over the place in the rain. Waste of money. When I picked up my car I was told that the mechanics dropped a large wrench on hood. This was apparent with the big ass dent that was in my hood! The owner said that he would have his body guy come to fix it and since our car was there everyday it'd be easy peasy. Well weeks went by and I asked repeatedly when it would be done. They blow me off over and over. Then about 2 months later I asked again and the owner said "Oh, it never got done?" I thought he came, blah blah!!! I was like okay can we get this done, he was like yeah I'll call him. Do you think it got fixed? Nope by the end of 3rd month I stopped parking there and decided to pursue a claim via my insurance because the dent had started to rust and look tacky. I had to pay the deductible and they won't admit to doing it! Scum bags...screwed up my hood, then lie about it. But hey, this is a lesson learned, take photos, get documentation, insurance info, etc. Business is business.

I was so completely screwed by Kevin at Repair Right, I don't even know where to start. Please go…read moresomewhere else if you have the choice. I brought my new Mazda CX7 to Repair Right for an alignment, new tire installation/balancing and an oil change. When I picked up the car Richard explained to me that everything went well, but he couldn't figure out how to turn off the tire-pressure indicator light on the dashboard. His advice was to read the manual. This should have been my first clue that something was off. One day later I realized the steering wheel was shuddering hard above 60 MPH and I could not make the tire pressure indicator light go off after following the instructions. I brought the car in that week for a re-examination, this is when I met Kevin (the owner). He came on a ride with me but could not feel the shudder and told me not to worry, he's been doing this over twenty years and everything was fine. Then he mentioned that he was not really sure what work was done on the car because they had taken it to Les Schwab for the alignment and tire install. WTF? I brought the car to these guys to support the local guy and they took it Les Schwab? On a Friday I brought the car to the Milwaukie dealership for an inspection. Things started to get really interesting. The dealer found 3 main problems. 1. Someone lost, or never reinstalled the tire pressure sensor for one of the tires. This is the reason why the indicator light was on. 2. The tires had never been balanced. Zero balancing weights. This was causing the shudder in the steering wheel. 3. The alignment was way off. This also causes a shudder. After fixing the problems at the dealership all is well with the car. However, problems with Kevin at Repair Right are not. I contacted Kevin after the dealer repairs and explained to him that I needed a refund for the work I contracted them to do and they failed to complete (alignment and tire balancing) I also asked for him to refund the $88 for new tire pressure sensor. After 2 months and 5 phone calls I received a check from Kevin for $40 and a copy of his receipt from Les Schwab. Obviously this was lower than I expected. I called Kevin that day and explained to him my disappointment. I explained that I don't give a flying fuck what Les Schwab refunded him, I didn't take my car to Les Schwab, I took it to him at Repair Right. I was upset at this point and I did raise my voice when I told him that it was his responsibility to make this right. At this point in the conversation he said, "You know what; I want you to come down here right now so I can beat the piss out of you, because you're a whiner." Seriously...he threatened to beat me up!!! Well, if you call someone who dislikes getting fucked by mechanics a whiner, then I guess I'm your guy. Needless to say I won't be returning to Repair Right and they should receive a small claims notice from the court soon.
