This was my 3rd try at various PT establishments in town. Why did I not begin with SM&PT??! Without hesitation, it was the best I've ever attended. A small area, 4 PT/DPT therapists, an acute friendly atmosphere, and to-the-minute, on-time sessions. At the end of my 3 months, Mike printed out exercises I could do in the pool to continue strengthening the muscles that support my spine. It only allows 5* yet 10* would be more likely! To Mike, thank you for being patient/supportive, and to Sydney, Caitlin, TJ, and Mike, I wish you continued success because you certainly render comfort, laughs, grammar, and geography tips to all of us, all the while we perform as you instruct us and voilà, the hour is completed and my back finds relief! You are treasured...many, many thanks. Annie DuBois

They got me back in action and it wasn't painful like I expected it to be. It was great going to PT here and I'll do so again if there's a need. Caitlin certainly knows her stuff and got my shoulder back in working order quickly and then worked with me to get range of motion and strength back. I appreciate everything she did and the time she spent with me. I always felt I had her utmost attention when I was there and she was just so very nice! Mike is great too! He helped me with all the insurance mess, kept me on the straight and narrow and did a great job on working with me regarding the appointments. They all have such a great sense of humor as well as work ethic! Kudos to them! Thank you, Holly H

I had surgery by this butcher in 2003. The only reason I'm writing this after all this time is that…read moreI ran into another woman with the same story all these years later. I saw Dr. Allen for a painful knee and was told I needed an arthroscopic surgery on it to repair a torn meniscus. When I woke up I discovered that this man had done a much more invasive surgery without ever mentioning it to me or my family waiting outside. The procedure is called a microfracture and meant that instead of the three days on crutches, I would be on crutches for at least three months. As my family watched the waiting room clear out and the hour grow late, my sister approached the desk to learn that Dr. Allen had left the building and had the rest of the day off and would not be talking calls. He sent me home with a drug for pain I clearly told him and was on my chart to be highly allergic to. He would not take calls then either to perhaps phone in something I could take. So I toughed it out with the vicodin and a lot of Benedryl to combat the severe itching. There was NO therapy and despite repeated requests for it he refused saying the "all those quacks will do it put hot and cold packs on it". The standard protocol for a surgery such as this is continuous passive motion to keep the joint from freezing. Dr. Allen never heard of that and his solution was another trip to the surgical suite so he could break the adhesions (and line his own pockets with more money.) I had two followup visits and both were AWFUL. This man is sadistic, rude and after the second visit where he was a total jerk in the exam room and he actually YELLED at me in the hall about the way I was trying to walk, I was so shaken up that I never returned. I have not had one step since 2003 that has not been painful. I can't drive past his office without getting a sick feeling in my stomach. I haven't been able to run ever, ever again because of this horrible surgery done by this horrible, horrible man. As a single woman that ranches, I credit Dr. Allen with putting a terrible limitation on my physical activity. The lady I ran into recently told me virtually the same story as my own. Hard to believe he is still practicing and pulling the same scam on patients. This woman was also emotionally devastated by the way she was treated. A couple in my church told me that her husband had thrown Dr. Allen out of his aunt's hospital room because he was SO OFFENSIVE AND MEAN. Do not use this man for any reason. You will regret it as I have for every minute of every day with every step and every single thing I could do and not can't because not only did he NOT fix my knee, he made it much, much worse that it would have been just left alone. The way I know this is that I went to another orthopedic in San Antonio with my records and the photos taken during the surgery. Two surgeons concurred that the surgery was completely unnecessary!
