Whereas my little brother was picked on and shunned by his teachers because he goofed around in class (what little young boy does not goof around through out his life). Everytime when my little brother comes home sad, I would ask him to tell me about his day at school: "the teacher does not listen to my side of the story at all. He keeps thinking I'm the one doing all the bad things." And these are just usual stories he would tell me when he come home looking like he's hiding something. I am very displeased and confound of the specific faculties that can side with "good" kids and neglects the "bad" ones. This does not goes to only faculties but also the principal: she does not listen to both sides of the story before executing her "I don't care but you're suspended." I know my little brother would not lie to me; I would put my life on the line for him. My frustration is that this school does not know how to handle their disclinary actions and how to monitor their faculties progression. Today was the last straw when my little brother was suspended for something that he did not get a chance to explain. My father does not speak english so he does not understand fully of what was going on, just that "your son is suspended for 'stealing' another student's item." As I questioned my little brother, the story is quite the opposite. Everything they wrote on his piece of paper were all accusations coming from one side of the story; how arrogant. I'm not letting this one slide off and let my little brother be scarred with authority figures doing the things THEY think are right. Listen to all your students for goodness sake.

After years of experience and having to move my children from school to school because of work-life…read morebalance, I feel with deep confidence this was one of the best elementary schools my children attended. Special Thanks: - Dr. Gary Gerstner and prior principal - Ms. Zachach (pardon the misspelling) - IEP staff - Speech therapist - Dolly Chatterton - Lilia (a name similar to Lily) - Parent/Community Advisory Committee - Parents in action Let me give you some context to compare amongst the other reviewers vs my review as a parent. When my children attended this school, I was a single parent, attending UCI as an engineering student, with a child in the IEP program, and having to manage my children's mother who was later found neglectful by CPS. All of this while working at Disney in customer service and born into poverty. Therefore, I had minimal chances to succeed as a parent, let alone the patience for all the possible mistakes I might encounter from being inexperienced. The Community: The people here are great and the kids are decently behaved. There might be a conflict between children every now and then but they do resolve it. The Parents In Action (PIA) cares about making a difference in the children's involvement with school activities. I've never attended a PTA meeting, sorry. The Staff: I don't like to generalize but they were awesome. I especially recall Dolly and Lilia (similar name to Lily). I put Dr Gary Gerstner and possibly the staff through some stuff with CPA getting involved, like the conflicts between the mother and I. In the end, I wish they knew it saved my children's life. Parent/Community Advisory Committee: The Advisory Committee is another level. I recommend attending if you're a parent looking for advance information regarding how to make the best of your interaction with the school system. For example, I asked what was the best way I can make the most out of the IEP meetings with advance resources. The person who answered my question was highly educated and very prepared. They taught me the steps on making a meaningful impact at each IEP meeting. IEP: The help in the beginning was profound. However, to make the changes necessary to improve as a parent for a child in the IEP, I had to be more involved. The specialists and teachers knew my limitations and made the best decisions available to them. The absolute best advice I received was from Ms. Zachach (pardon the misspelling), to make my child love reading and there is no limit to how much they should read.

He was entry level and therefore it should have been a department head doing accounting, or the principle. When handed a stack of invoices, he was told to do the accounting. My son had no idea how to go about doing the accounting. When he told the principle that, she said: Well maybe we should fire you. My son looked at her and said, no problem. I will resign. As far as I am concerned, he has a clear workman's comp case. If this is how the district operates with entry level employees, I have to wonder how they treat their students. My oldest son went to kindergarten at a Garden Grove School 35 years ago. We moved because the school was so bad. It seems the district hasn't changed.

I love so many teachers here that I request for my other kids to have . It's a close knit school . Front staff is helpful and friendly . The school has got better this year as far as activities and the PTA doing more for the students . They have a great / fun Halloween night every year that my kids enjoy and volunteer at . I've had issues thoughout the years but nothing bad enough to make me want to change schools . They have boys and girls club after school until 6pm for working parents that have tutors that help with kids homework and activities daily for the kids. My kids were in it for years but since they have sports every day they no longer attend . They give snacks everyday if child doesn't bring . Great programs and love that it's free for parents who need it .

She always made assumptions about kids. I was a passionate student who always got honor rolls until being in her class. I constantly felt depressed being in her classroom. She had a short temper, and easily lashed out. Back when I was in her class, my project popped and so I simply fiddled with it for merely a few seconds to fix the tape. She responded with forcing me to do a lap at 8:30 in the morning. I've also had a bad experience with a former fourth grade teacher but I can't say anything since he retired last year. Most staff simply aren't designed to be around kids. I do believe one sixth grade teacher, Mr. McPherson, is pretty good at teaching students in his class. He's pretty experienced, and he encourages his students. He explains things in a way in which they can understand pretty quick. The music teacher, Mrs. Son, is also lovely to be around.
