After years of experience and having to move my children from school to school because of work-life…read morebalance, I feel with deep confidence this was one of the best elementary schools my children attended. Special Thanks: - Dr. Gary Gerstner and prior principal - Ms. Zachach (pardon the misspelling) - IEP staff - Speech therapist - Dolly Chatterton - Lilia (a name similar to Lily) - Parent/Community Advisory Committee - Parents in action Let me give you some context to compare amongst the other reviewers vs my review as a parent. When my children attended this school, I was a single parent, attending UCI as an engineering student, with a child in the IEP program, and having to manage my children's mother who was later found neglectful by CPS. All of this while working at Disney in customer service and born into poverty. Therefore, I had minimal chances to succeed as a parent, let alone the patience for all the possible mistakes I might encounter from being inexperienced. The Community: The people here are great and the kids are decently behaved. There might be a conflict between children every now and then but they do resolve it. The Parents In Action (PIA) cares about making a difference in the children's involvement with school activities. I've never attended a PTA meeting, sorry. The Staff: I don't like to generalize but they were awesome. I especially recall Dolly and Lilia (similar name to Lily). I put Dr Gary Gerstner and possibly the staff through some stuff with CPA getting involved, like the conflicts between the mother and I. In the end, I wish they knew it saved my children's life. Parent/Community Advisory Committee: The Advisory Committee is another level. I recommend attending if you're a parent looking for advance information regarding how to make the best of your interaction with the school system. For example, I asked what was the best way I can make the most out of the IEP meetings with advance resources. The person who answered my question was highly educated and very prepared. They taught me the steps on making a meaningful impact at each IEP meeting. IEP: The help in the beginning was profound. However, to make the changes necessary to improve as a parent for a child in the IEP, I had to be more involved. The specialists and teachers knew my limitations and made the best decisions available to them. The absolute best advice I received was from Ms. Zachach (pardon the misspelling), to make my child love reading and there is no limit to how much they should read.

No Yelp pg for LQHS proper, so guess the review goes here. +…read moreGrateful for the AP classes offered here to kickstart my college career. Saved me time and $ to help pursue higher (under)graduate studies sooner and more productively. - Never realized how much the workout cage resembled a prison yard. - No pickleball courts. Qué lástima. - The literature teachers weren't good at teaching logical students how to excel in the arts. + The sciences teachers were excellent at teaching us the sciences and maths. Glad they were passionate about their fields too. - Their dance club organization was poorly executed. For every assembly performance, you were required to show up to practice 4am the day of or else you wouldn't be allowed to participate, even if you had been loyally attending all weekly practices prior. Since their 2025 remodeling, nothing's recognizable to us old alumni anymore. Fresh new grounds and buildings. Revitalized look.

To the mom wearing "Vietnamese student association la Quinta high school" shirt who smacked her…read moredaughter and embarrassed her in front of people Costco, way to show your narcissistic traits. Smacked her daughter so loud you could hear it with all the noise inside. I watched as the daughter was about to eat a sample only to be smacked! The daughter just looked straight ahead and took the verbal lashing her mom gave her. A teenage boy soon arrived to say only a few words only to be loudly scolded by the narcissistic mom, boy looked down in silence. I am familiar with those behaviors, looking down as it's a familiar feeling by my own mother. Neither child said a word. Why? Because they are used to being berated and if you even dare attempt to defend yourself, well be ready to be beat or unjustly accused of attitude for speaking up. Dear mom, I can only imagine who you treat your child in private if you so boldly assault your child in public. Seeing your face with that heavy eyeliner and trashy fake lashes brings back unpleasant memories of my own mother. Your behavior represents that high school simply by wearing it. DO BETTER.

It was, to say the least, terrifying to practice our backwards marching on a bumpy grass ground, as opposed to the smooth concrete floors that we should have had made available during this warm up. It's almost as if we were set up to fail, or that they were doing everything they could to encourage us to earn a low score. I truly do understand this effort, as I know that our school does pose as a threat towards others wishing to earn the title of first place. Next, to assess this schools environment, we will look to the overall vibe conveyed. I and other performers agree that a "fall feeling" was in the air. Nice trees, fallen leaves, and a peaceful area around our unloading and bus area. The halls were nice, and, to summarize, you could say we were grateful for the richness of this school, but also for the lack of money to make this one of those huge schools you could get lost in. Congratulations to Bolsa Grande HS for earning these four stars. -Marching Band Pro Performers
