We rented 4 boats (2 - 74' 1-65' and 1- 50') in mid July and the boats were clean and fully functioning. The customer service was awesome from the start. The office communication,about the rental and the questions we had, the crew that helped get us all set on and off the boats and the people working the gas pumps, the store and the restaurant. All very professional, fun, clean and organized. We will definitely be retuning for our next family trip to Dale Hollow. Thank you Sunset Marina for making houseboating easy. My family and friends rented a 50' family boat and I was so impressed with how nice the boat was organized. The marina was clean and had everything we needed for a GREAT long weekend. The Marina is impressive with the bridge over top of it. Loading and unloading was efficient and there were plenty of heavy duty carts to get your gear moved. SUNSET Houseboat- 50 footer very comfortable for 4 couples! Generator was brand new and started very easily. Overall fantastic experience. Staff was really courteous and knowledgeable. When we did have an issue with our fridge, they came out immediately even though we were camped 15 miles away on the other side of the lake. They took care of us! A+++++ service.

This recreation area has some great views and some good picnic areas, however the island across the…read morebridge is completely neglected. Facilities are ok. There are lots of picnic tables in a variety of settings, from open field to hilltop shaded, and some have grills nearby. As you cross the bridge to the narrow island, you will find a mostly secluded trail that runs in a loop along the sides of the island. The further you go, the more neglected the trail. Wear closed toed shoes, as there are some small washouts and lots of poison ivy just off and sometimes on the trail. On the north side, there are small caves and cliffs that make a beautiful juxtaposition with the lake and woods. I recommend sticking to the north (left) part of the trail and going to the small caves and then turning around from there. The deeper you go, the more neglected the park, including ruins from a campground. Near the bridge there are rock shelves that make swimming or wading easy for all skill levels and ages, just be aware that the rock shelves create sudden drop-offs into deeper water. The swimming area is roped off on one side to minimize concerns about boat traffic. The lake is refreshing on hot days, so have a picnic and then dip your feet. All in all, this park could five stars if it wasn't so neglected. It's still a nice place for a picnic and a swim or a boat trip from the ramp.

RENTER BEWARE... We rented a pontoon boat from this marina…read moretoday. This was our third boat rental this week on Dale Hollow Lake, and we've rented from three different marinas as our location changed. During the pre-rental walkthrough, the dock attendant attached the anchor to the boat. About two hours into our rental, we dropped the anchor, but the clip the dock attendant had used came unclipped, causing the anchor to fall into the lake and be lost. This wasn't due to anything we did--it was because the anchor had not been secured properly. When we returned the boat, we were charged an additional $125 for the lost anchor, even though it was their employee who attached it incorrectly. The anchor itself appeared to be a basic, inexpensive model worth around $30. To make matters worse, the staff was rude and disrespectful when we tried to explain what happened. Based on this experience, I would not recommend renting from this marina.

When we pulled up to meet our friends on the water, they looked at our pontoon and said "wow that pontoon's been through a lot." There was mold all over the seats. The boat would not shift into gear easily. There was no anchor so we couldn't dock anywhere. We won't return to this marina. We also addressed our concerns with management and their response was "you guys are abuncha democrats." We've been boaters for 20 years and have visited lakes all over the country. We've never had this experience. On the bright side, the lake was really beautiful, and there are plenty of other marinas on the lake we will use in the future.

Once we could swim then houseboats were ok. I have always loved the drive to the lake the warm air with the windows down. The smell of water and fresh rain. The hills and valleys with the boat following behind. I always knew that we were in for an amazing days at the lake. The staff was always so welcoming and helpful we have had some injuries over the years that being 20! That they were able to help with getting to a ER and also watching that boat. There are so many different amenities that it's just the place to be. Sadly we moved to CA way to far to travel with a boat, but we always remember our time at the lake so much that college has sent me back to the east coast. I highly suggest if you try this lodge do so knowing you will need to have your own taxidermy the "in house" taxidermy sounds great but that couldn't be further from the truth. Oh and yes I still have no mount and the excuses still exist.

Todd was our guide and we had a great time with him. The staff would bend over backwards to make sure you had what you needed. Scenic views. Con's - the meals were mediocre at best. There was a pretty bad smell near the Razorback Lodge due to being next to the skinning shed. Main hunting area can be crowded with other hunters. Razorback lodge could use an extra bathroom.
