Douglas is $65 no matter the size and the Nobles and Grands are $75/each. Cash or check only. No frills but they do have complimentary cider and popcorn and it's a nice relaxed atmosphere. Family members help shake and bind the tree and provide ropes for tying on the car. They also have saws to cut the tree on your own. This is our go to farm and we'll be back again next year to support this family business.

Ages. But we got gorgeous pumpkins and I grabbed a few of the fancy blue ones for decor. For three "medium" pumpkins and a couple small ones we spent $41!! What value. Where they get you is the corn maze. Skip it!!! If we could have gotten a refund we would have. Trust me when I say BEYOND disappointed. It was muddy. SO muddy. And that could have been remedied with hay on the ground. That would have saved everyone's shoes and cars. And it was $5 per person for a literal circle. It wasn't a maze. It was a circle. That took 5-7 minutes to slowly walk. That was insane. That's where we PAID for the pumpkins. Everything here is pay via Venmo or cash box on the honor system. That's why we paid out the wazoo for the maze. Ugh. How crummy!! (So you HAVE to use Venmo or cash ONLY!) A little bonus was being able to see baby sheepies and the kids loved feeding them corn stalk leaves and watching them. Sheepies!!! Anyway, next year is YES to Pumpkins and sheepies and NO to the maze.

I love that the farm is totally flat, making it easy to park and walk around. Seeing and hearing the baby and mama sheep was a delight. There is also a corn maze located toward the back of the property. The maze is a cool attraction but I have to agree with another recent review, it really isn't a maze at all. It truly is a circle or a lap, like taking a lap around the park. It's not challenging or engaging, it's just a muddy lap through the corn field. Spend your time with the sheep and the pumpkins & skip the maze.

This year I made it a point on the first decent driving day to take the long ride up the oiled country road to see what I would find at trails end. In this case, what I did find was a cool home surrounded by a lovely glade of trees. Serene. No one but us and the little birdies. My husband and I listened hard for the whispering, but there was not enough wind that day, I suppose. As for the layout, there is a small outdoor building with shiny baubles for the garden (the little building is super cool) and a wandering path with small signs marking the type of tree/plant you are appreciating. It isn't much to it, though I wonder if they do weddings? We certainly enjoyed our 10 minute break and near the end of our time we were gently greeted by the nice owner lady that led us into an interior art space/store where she creates some lovely ceramics. I was feeling touristy, so I ended up buying a really cool set of handmade coasters (A bit over $20) that I adore. This is more just a thing to do along the way to doing other things, as it doesn't occupy a whole lot of time. As far as how this place is for pre-adults, I cannot say, though I for one was incredibly happy it was just us grown ups. NOTE: This drive requires going a good ways on unpaved roads. We walked around the store & got to chat with the employees & ask them a bunch of questions. They're a true farm where you can buy local honey, eggs, pie & seasonal produce like potatoes, corn, zucchini, cucumbers, tomatoes, plums, pears, grapes, onions, garlic, berries, cherries, etc Info about what's in season & available can be found on their website. After walking around the store we headed out back to check out the pumpkins, vegetables and flowers. We had the whole place to ourselves. My sister also went through their corn maze. There's a beautiful view of Mt. Hood from the back of the farm. At the start of this review I said this was my favorite of all farms, part of the reason is because they had the most variety of pumpkins & each & every pumpkin was beautiful!!! When we drove past the farm the following day, (Saturday, October 15th) the place was packed for their Farm Day. There were tractor hat rides, a petting zoo, & a taco truck in the parking lot. Unlike other farm there is no admission fee at this farm for families to visit and enjoy a day at the farm.

I always loved seeing their flowers as I drove by. I never did stop by, and now I live in Hillsboro. It's not that far of a drive, but I don't drive by very often anymore. Well, I saw a water color painting class event on Facebook being held at Blooming Junction. My sister and I have been really getting into doing water color painting. I signed us both up. I was excited not only for the class, I was really interested in checking out what Blooming Junction had to offer! I'm so glad this opportunity presented itself. Such a lovely nursery, all the plants looked so healthy and well cared for. It's much more than a nursery though. There was a market to buy fresh produce and other sundry items. I was delighted to find Bubbies brand pickles. I find this brand at other stores, but the dill relish has been illusive. I was just thinking to myself this morning while making chickpea salad how I wished I had Bubbies Dill relish..and lo and behold I find it here! So happy! My sister and I strolled around before our class started. Bought a drink in the market to sip on throughout the class. There was a water cooler also in the workshop area. We had fun getting in touch with our creative side! After class ended, we strolled around some more. I ended up getting the Bubbies relish and strawberries. They were so sweet! There are so many things to see besides plants. I am sure I will be back!

What pottery is worth carrying back to Hawaii?…read more My mom picked out a color scheme for her kitchen based on one of her favorite pottery pieces. Prior to us all visiting Oregon this June it mysteriously got destroyed (We won't name names here). Fortunately while visiting the "Made in Oregon" store and wandering around Saturday Market she discovered the works of Nick Molatore. He had a whole line of pottery featuring just the right colors. My rents and lil bro carried back an entire set, and even gifted us a beautiful tray (which we ended up bringing back to Portland with us...so glad we moved here). What makes FarPoint's pottery special is it's high firing. This extreme heat process produces a durable product that also being lead free is microwave and dishwasher safe. His designs range from pretty pedestrian to just plain pretty. Anyway, our piece has so far survived traveling to Hawaii and back, we'll see how long it survives us. :)
