You can eat in their amazing steakhouse with a full bar or grab a quick bite in their banquet hall. They have tons to do including a full scale offroad park! There is also cabins and lodging onsite. Recently there has been some growth in the restaurant industry in the area and that's. Good thing. However apparently the Ranch has been around for awhile. It's located in the Good Evening Ranch that has horse trails, show arena, cabin rentals and much more. It's really beautiful. The restaurant offers a good verity of choices for appetizers and meals. We ordered some smoked wings and BBq pulled pork for dinner. The portions are huge. It's more than you can eat so get a to go box. I really enjoyed the Smokey flavor on the wings and pulled pork and the wings were crispy so I think they fried them after smoking. That's a good technique. The sauce on both the wings and pork tasted like store bought and had just been poured over straight from the bottle. They would do well to create a homemade sauce or two and incorporate it a little better. The baked beans were not good at all. They tasted like they came straight from a can. The slaw was fantastic. I will visit again and try other items on the menu. Service is great. Our waitress was very friendly and checked on us frequently. The inside has a lot of room for seating and is nicely clean. It has the classic ranch house feel.

The charming 42 acre ranch is owned by legendary guitarist, Jorma Kaukonen, from Jefferson Airplane and founder of Hot Tuna. Big bands from the 60's. But the ranch also includes a terrific concert venue, cool "psychedelic" museum and homey cafe. If you are lucky enough to attend a concert here you are in for an awesome, special and incredible experience. I say lucky because the concert venue has approx. 220 seats and 3/4 of them are held by season subscription holders (30 shows). The remaining go on sale to the public and are typically sold out within an hour of becoming available. At times, it can help to know someone. ;-) Their approach to seating is unique and refreshing from most every other venue you have ever been. The place itself is pretty in a rustic way and intimate like your family room. The high quality sound system compliments the superb artists playing. The crowd can be described as old hippies with a sprinkling of younger music aficionados. People are not trying to take pictures, but instead just grooving on the sounds. Along with the music you can enjoy popcorn, cookies, coffee, cider , etc. that are for sale. But, there are NO ALCOHOL SALES. Probably a good thing since it is out in the MIDDLE OF NO WHERE and you have to drive on a one lane, winding road, up a hill to enter & exit. At night, it is black out there! Being at FPR is a memorable experience that you will want to recreate many times over.

But Amy was very good with answering our questions and giving her opinions on various dishes, as well as her interactions with Oliver We started with some wings with house hot sauce and an order of cheddar and candied jalapeño fries. Both were very good, the candied jalapeños had a nice heat but were not rude. I had a Cubano sammich, as you know I am a sucker for these and once again - no plancha!! This one wasn't even squished in a George Foreman grill. Just served on a (good and tasty and crunchy) bread. Oliver had a cheeseburger and fries, and the table order was rounded out with a braised beef sandwich. That was declared by Amy as the number 1 sandwich at the place. Oh jeez I almost forgot - they've got several beers and Amy was again a font of knowledge asking us what kinds of beers we liked and helping craft suggestions based upon what we liked.

I checked beginner, and told them I had no experience riding a horse I HIGHLY recommend beginners stay away from this location. This type of negligence could cause serious harm. I was told that my horse "June" had ADHD and got distracted very easily. This was a complete understatement. The gentleman who was giving the "safety " talk seemed bothered and completely put out that he had to be there. If I would have known I needed to be an equestrian to ride here, I would have went somewhere else. But we didnt know, I let them know I was inexperienced and they ignored that fact even after the waiver we filled out and not once, but twice I asked to get down and that I was not in contol of this 900-2,200 lbs beast. I stressed to the handlers this. They told me I'd be fine and reshowed me how to "control" June. See, I was with June for about an hour and I realized real quick that she needs a more experienced and firmer handler than what they put on her. (Me) The problems started early, pretty much as soon as I got on. During our beginner two hour ride my horse June, decided to show me how much she truly did not give and ounce of care that I was doing all the things they showed me to control her. She was in charge and I was just there for the ride. Which was the most frightening experience of my life, and I served in the army. I am also a registered nurse and have been in some really frightening situations. The trails we were on were poorly kept. It wasn't her fault, the trails were just so unsafe. If this had been a young child i worry the day would have ended much worse. The trails were very very poorly kept, entire trees were down on the trail. There were ditches of mud which we were warned about but this definitely was not a trail for a bunch of beginners. June would not stay on the trail no matter what I did and the trail guide just kept yelling to kick her or pull the reins (WHICH I WAS DOING). very aggressively I might add. Then I was seriously worried she would just get spooked and bolt. I didnt trust myself, june or the ranch hands not one bit. This caused a lot of small injuries, at one point my horse decided to freak out and started to scramble backwards on a steep slope, by doing this, she pushed my sister who was behind me on the horse named Elsa into a tree which subsequently pinned her knee between the very large horse and a very unforgiving tree. I was struggling to "force" June back on the trail and not get taken out by trees as she forged their own path due to her "adhd" I just held close to her and tried to avoid the worst of the branches and tree trunks. I'm very surprised by the large amount of positive reviews here, I'm never one to complain about a service but I feel obligated because I really do feel like this is an unsafe environment. I dont want a refund, I am not asking for anything, I just want to know how a business is ran this unsafely and are still able to operate without any governance. I also want people to be warned. Our group unfortunately didnt do their due diligence and scour the reviews, but again not our fault completely, this place should not have been able to have 10+years of tormenting unsuspecting novice riders with their incompetence. This place has a waiver, I appreciate this, but when a customer explicitly says they are not good at something as dangerous as this could be, it is the businesses responsibility to be transparent about what said customer are getting themselves into. Like I said, I hate to complain, I really never make posts like this. However, if I help avoid one serious injury caused by this locations negligence then it is worth it in this case. Don't risk injury at this location, go somewhere else.

I chose it for the nostalgia... and the sense that as a member of the OU community, this was my hotel. I won't be making that mistake again. Here's what happened: I booked a room for Mom's Weekend 2026 a full year in advance -- because that's what you have to do when a hotel decides that one weekend a year justifies a $500/night rate. Fine. Supply and demand - I get it. What I didn't get was any reminder. Every hotel I've stayed at across the world -- and I travel frequently -- sends a "We're looking forward to seeing you this week" days before check-in. The OU Inn, apparently, has not discovered this technology. Instead, I received a reminder email at 7:10 PM -- after check-in had already passed. Not so useful. When I called and acknowledged my own mistake -- I genuinely did forget -- I wasn't asking for a free pass. I asked only to cancel the second night, understanding I'd eat the cost of the first. The response? A rigid recitation of the 48-hour cancellation policy by River at the front desk. On a sold-out Mom's Weekend. When hotels in Athens are turning people away for months before. The idea that they couldn't rebook that room -- on the busiest weekend of the year -- is either dishonest or incompetent. And then the cherry on top: I received a cancellation confirmation email Saturday morning, which gave me genuine hope that someone with a pulse had reviewed my situation and done the right thing. Nope. Turns out the system auto-cancelled when I missed check-in -- and then staff **manually re-entered my reservation knowing full well I wasn't coming.** That is not a clerical error. That is a choice. I have kids at OU now. I will be making the trip from California multiple times a year for the next three years. I was fully prepared to be a reliable, repeat customer -- someone who picks the OU Inn on principle, even when better options exist. That's what loyalty looks like. What I experienced in return was rigidity, indifference, and staff that were, frankly, rude about it. To management: you had every tool to make this right. A waitlist. A goodwill gesture. Basic human flexibility on the most in-demand weekend of your year. You chose none of them. For $450 (refund for one night), you've lost a customer who was already sold on you.
