I told him that I have to wait for the car to warm up before it will slip into gear. I asked Matt to look at the car and call me with an estimate. He called a few hours later and said that the transmission needed $5500 +tax in order to be fixed. I told him I would think about it for a few days. I decided that same day to pick the car up and not have it repaired by Matt. After picking the car up I took it to another local mechanic and told him about the issue. He took it for a drive and said that the transmission was fine. He said he believed that the filter was completely plugged. It turned out to be nothing more than a filter change. Since then I've put 5000km on the car and it's still running like new. I find it suspicious that Matt wouldn't see the clogged filter when he claims he looked at the transmission and deemed it "completely shot". Not impressed at all.

I told them I had the parts needed for the torque converter, and I was to have them install said parts. They called me back and told me that they didn't think that the problem was just with the torque converter, so they didn't install any or all of the parts. They wanted to check it further, I decided against it. I took the car to yet another mechanic and they immediately noticed two front transmission mounts were split, which was never noticed by Kingston Transmission. A third mechanic found the issue was a clogged filter, all along. It's been running fine ever since. There would have been no way around that filter, so I have reason to believe it was seen by Kingston Transmission's mechanic. Getting a second opinion is always a good thing.
