My father went to MC, during WW II, on a scholarship, and earned 25c/hour as a night watchman to pay for food & clothing. Somehow he wasn't drafted for the war. He did well- he later went on to the S. Baptist Seminary, in Louisville, KY I think- and did well there. Later, he went into the Air Force; then studied Engineering Geology, got his degree, and worked in Hawaii, Cambodia, & Thailand, then back to Clinton, MS- all as a geological engineer- he got to be out in the Sun, as his father was. I finished High School there. If you are Christian, it's pretty good. I myself graduated the University of Michigan [about the same cost as MC, oddly enough], then New York University. I was open to a lot, when younger, nowadays I like being around moral people with hearts, who help others, and some Christians match this profile. It's a good school, somewhat provincial, but some like that. Michigan was wild- in 1975, pot was everywhere, some hard drugs, it was a shock to me. I never smelled pot at MC, never saw drunks, never saw druggies. I paid off my student loans in the US Army. I enjoy finding true heart-based Christians wherever I can, they are usually a joy to be around. They existed at MC when I was there, and no doubt still do. I really miss that WW II generation of people, in Clinton, they were all great. There were a few triple K people around in town, but never at the college; triple K and college, well, just don't go together. MC was admitting blacks in the 60's, the ones I met were decent people, they had a few folks from overseas, also. read more
