They have a donation table in the front of the lobby. One thing I really appreciate is the transition my oldest came right when he was 1 years old and began walking at 1 yr n 1 month. Now my youngest who is turning 1 next month arrived when he was 6months and to watch them go from class to class has been such a beautiful thing to witness. Even prior to COVID19 there were less than a dozen kids coming here. At a friends birthday party I ran into a child that had recognized my kid. She told me she was also going but told her parents she didn't like it there after a week, so the parents stopped. Seeing what the staff does and doesn't do I understand. My niece who had gone here for preschool said the pretty much the same thing now that she is in high school. It's pretty much like paying a teenager to watch over your kids, just having them watch TV, play and eat Goldfish crackers. The kids while waiting for their parents are walked down to the Wah Mei and allowed to play in the courtyard for an hour before going in and allowed to run around. When the weather is cold or raining they are allowed to run around the next door church instead. When there is a disruptive child in the group the staff does nothing about it. Most of the time the kids just all give and all run around and play instead of focusing on study and homework, what the staff should be doing. 6 months ago they invested in a TV so the staff could just plug in their phones and watch Youtube videos instead of running around.

And, tuition at non-profit Wah Mei Preschool is a fraction of what you'll pay at other preschools in the city. The school opens as early as 7:30 and closes as late as 6pm. I can't say much about what they teach and how much my child learns, but he can def write some letters now and vocabulary seems to be expanding. One thing I noticed is my son cannot count much passed 10 (and that's what I taught him before he started school) so I began teaching him myself again the other day, and he is starting to get it. He will be 4 in 2 months. I do wish they did more lessons with numbers and basic math, the kids would pick it up quickly if they did some repetitive number games and lessons for instance.

It's an Emilio Reggio school with a phenomenal teaching staff and the director works diligently alongside parent volunteers to be sure that the teachers are consistently feeling as supported and appreciated as they make our children feel every day. There is a full time garden teacher, music teacher and art teacher who all have great expertise in fostering curiosity and appreciation for the beautiful world of nature, music and art and work with the children and alongside the classroom teachers to bring these amazing components to the kids. The school community feels like a home away from home. There are numerous ways parents can volunteer (which is completely optional) and be involved in the school community. My daughter started school in the height of the pandemic and the staff really thought outside the box in how to keep that feeling of community going. Now that we're past that, events and opportunities to come together as a community abound and really make us feel like we're living in a small town. Children do not need to be potty trained (let's just say this was VERY important to us ). The teachers really meet the kids where they are and gently encourage them to step outside their comfort zone to grow. I have personally learned so much from watching the teachers respect an individual child's own comfort level in any situation and think outside the box to ensure each child feels respected to be who they are. Yet through creating a safe space and gently encouraging growth, I have seen the children blossom into confident individuals and take such pride in their own achievements. My daughter will say things like, "mommy, I'm so proud! I believed in myself and I did it!" Logistics perk: drive through drop offs. I had a newborn at home when my daughter started preschool and I'm sure that every parent can relate - the drive through drop offs without needing to get the baby out of the car saved my sanity . Almost 2 years later, I still find the drive through drop off option to be an incredible, time saving perk. I still love to walk my daughter into school or go into the classroom to pick her up, but having the drive through option has been a game changer . The Pre-K program really prepares students for elementary school and the director, Karla, works alongside families to provide resources and guidance as they navigate the process of transitioning to elementary school. When we reached out to Mindy, she reassured us that my son would be taken care of and laid out a plan to help him get potty training and find other ways to cope with his anxiety. Teacher Mindy and the whole team has over 20+ years of experience. Its been only 4 months and I have never seen my son so excited to go to school. If we have more children in the future, they will definitely be going here as well -- without question. There are a few things that make this preschool really special: 1. Welcoming to All Stages Happy Days is one of the few preschools in the area that accepts toddlers who are not yet potty trained. Our son started attending when he was about 20 months old, and he was nowhere near potty trained at the time. The school welcomed him with open arms and supported him through this phase with great patience. 2. Truly Above and Beyond Care The standard pick-up time is already quite generous at 6:00 pm, but when Head Teacher Mindy learned about our demanding work schedules, she graciously offered to take our son home in the evenings so we could pick him up at 8:00 pm. Over the past two years, Mindy and her husband have become like grandparents to our son -- a bond we will forever treasure. We honestly don't think we could find this level of love and care anywhere else. 3. Wonderful Development Our son has grown into a smart, happy, and outgoing little boy. He was well-prepared for kindergarten -- he performed very well in school interviews and was accepted to every private school we applied to. Most importantly, he loves learning: he enjoys school, homework, his teachers, and his classmates. 4. Incredible Value For all of this, the tuition is very reasonable.
