The previous day I was at the gym and that morning i was in the ER with a huge clot in my groin area and possibly a few minutes away from things going completely downhill. I was going through treatment for a so-called calf muscle tear by a so-called experienced orthopedic surgeon who completely misdiagnosed the situation. And on the evening of March 7th, I was at the gym when my leg swelled real bad, almost double the size. Long-story short I had to be rushed to the ER the next day where Dr. Herscu was the Vascular Surgeon on duty. I thank God every day since for having me there in his presence that day. Dr. Herscu is a very pleasing personality with incredible bedside manners. Doctors seldom teach you in terms that you can understand. Be assured that you will not only understand your situation better, but will also be heard completely. Most doctors like to see their watch and want to get done as soon as possible. Dr. Herscu is different in every sense. His skill and knowledge is shown not just in his office, but also in the OR. He is so confident with what needs to be done, what he is doing and what has been done. If Dr. Herscu is your doctor, take it from somebody who has been given a new life, you are in the best hands possible. Thank you Dr. Herscu. We are forever grateful!

I had no idea what to expect, but I cried the first day on my wound care appointment, because I was so traumatized by my hospitalization (and ESPECIALLY when they told me I would be having to visit every week). But they were so comforting and kind on that very first day. Not JUST the receptionists-- but also the nurses and the doctor. Now, funnily enough-- and ironically-- I look forward to coming every week!! This place is amazing and so are the people here. :D

He plays music and tells you what is is doing while he is working, and the procedure itself was much less uncomfortable than I imagined (and took less than 40 minutes). Upon entering the exam room, the doctor's verbal and physical mannerisms felt brash and uncaring. I showed him the areas requiring treatment, yet he insisted that I personally mark all of the treatment areas myself, stating, "I don't care how your legs look," before leaving the room. Regardless of intent, such a statement was inappropriate and lacked the empathy and professionalism patients deserve from a physician. When I calmly expressed that his manner seemed unkind, rather than addressing the concern or offering clarification, he cancelled my appointment altogether. Personal frustrations, if present, should never influence patient care or the overall clinical experience. Unfortunately, this visit fell far below the standard of professionalism and bedside manner I had anticipated and previously experienced.
