My husband was referred to this doctor after a hospital stay…read more Here is what happened. On June 7 we went there for a visit. I asked when his prescription would be ready and I was told three days. On June 18 I went to my pharmacy to pick up the prescription. There wasn't one. I called twice from the CVS parking lot but it's impossible to speak to a human being. I left two messages. I drove to Winchester from Martinsburg to have the doctor send the prescription. I was told that it would take three days. I explained this is what I was told on June 7. They said there was nothing more they could do but call the prescription in and it would take three days. I reminded them this is what they'd said before. While I was there talking to the receptionist my phone rang and it was the nurse returning my call. Because I was talking to the receptionist I couldn't picks it up on time. I called back but again there was no human to speak to. I went to my car in the parking lot of this facility and called again. No human. As I was driving north to Martinsburg they called and told me they could not find my husband's record. I explained I'd been there on June 7. They finally found it but the woman was too soft spoken. She told me to pull over. I did. She said the prescription would be at CVS in 72 hours. I explain this is what they'd told me on June 7. She then told me to go to my primary care doctor. I told her I had been referred to Dr Galbraith by the hospital. She started talking over me and telling me to mind my blood pressure. I explained it's my husbands blood pressure medication that I'm trying to get and that they hadn't sent it to the pharmacy on June 7 like they said. The woman then hung up on me. I dumped this place. I don't care about the hospital referral. I made an appointment for the next day with my husband's regular doctor who treats us like human beings. That place is just the worst medical service imaginable. Over ten days to send a prescription to the pharmacy and then to get told to go to my regular physician. DO. NOT. RECOMMEND. STAY. AWAY.!!!

The ability to do lab work on site makes visits a lot easier. I have always been able to get an appointment when needed. The doctors are also very responsive when I send messages via their portal. I recently switch to their cardiology service. They offer doctors, stress test and echo-cardiogram services all on site. I met with the cardiologist Dr Saraiya on two occasions. He was prompt, personable and thorough. I recommend Selma Medical and Dr. Dr Saraiya.

Dr Ott…read more I want to publicly thank Dr. Ott at Selma Medical Center for the exceptional care and advocacy she recently provided me during a very serious medical situation. I have suffered from blood clots in my legs and lungs for more than 10 years. A few weeks ago, I went to the ER and was diagnosed again with blood clots and placed on blood thinners. During my follow-up appointment, Dr. Ott became very concerned about my condition and instructed me to return to Winchester Medical Center to be admitted for surgical treatment. Unfortunately, after spending nearly five hours in the ER, I was seen briefly by the ER physician, who never examined my leg and discharged me home. Dr. Ott did not accept that outcome. She spent hours personally investigating what had happened, reviewing records, identifying multiple errors in the ER doctor's report, and tirelessly advocating on my behalf until I was finally admitted to the hospital for the surgery I needed. What impressed me most was that she did all of this while continuing to manage a full day of patients. I later learned that the delays this caused in her schedule led to complaints from others, yet she never stopped fighting for my care and safety. Dr. Ott's compassion, professionalism, persistence, and willingness to advocate for her patient may very well have saved me from a much more serious outcome. In today's healthcare world, physicians like her are rare and deserve to be recognized. I will never forget the kindness and dedication she showed me. Thank you, Dr. Ott.

I've suffered from a combination of Severe Anxiety with Panic Disorder, Associated Depression, and PTSD since I was 10; I've tried nearly every medicine on the market and nothing has been able to really improve my quality of life. I'm a mom of three with an intense career and going through a brutal custody battle, which has made it so much worse. It's $500 per infusion but I'm using my healthcare FSA and plan to pursue reimbursement from United Heathcare as well. The office is calm and lovely with no wait. My first session, the nurse (Angie?) was an IV needle ninja and reminded me of a Chinese Ping Pong Olympic match but with the fastest, easiest IV placement I've ever seen. The team was so thorough even though I was SO nervous about the dissociative experiences I had read about. They preventatively gave me Zofran for nausea and Versed for anxiety; I had a super comfy chair and crazy soft blanket I really want to buy for my house; and while the experience was VERY WEIRD, it wasn't unpleasant but felt very healing. Having read about music and the role in the treatment I played the Lord of the Rings soundtrack with the ups and downs and it was bizarre how it guided me through processing both my good memories and feelings and bad, but sort of helped me feel like I could overcome (a la Aragorn?). Highly recommend something like that to listen to. In a very weird trippy way I could FEEL the mental healing and I really mean that even in my now clear headed state. It's amazing, truly. My appointment was at 11:00-11:45, groggy feeling passed by around 12:15, by the time I was home just around 1 I had no problem getting back to work "fully there". My boyfriend was SHOCKED because he noticed a difference immediately. That's from one infusion. It's incredible and I can't believe it. Looking forward to tomorrow's and on Thursday!

The group of doctors there are amazing! I have known them for years and trusted them with my wife.read more

If you need real medical care and expect to deal with logical professionals who actually want to…read morehelp, avoid Amherst Family Practice. I recently had to leave my previous primary care provider because they refused to issue referrals or cooperate with other doctors or my insurance company. It got to the point where my insurance carrier recommended I find a new PCP--pretty insane when your insurer is more reasonable than your doctor. Amherst was in-network, so I gave them a shot. Ten days ago, I submitted the required forms so they could request my records from my previous doctor. But they told me they won't even schedule an appointment until they receive those records. That's a first. Imagine moving to a new area and needing to establish care--get prescriptions refilled, discuss health concerns--but the office refuses to move forward until they contact your former doctor, wherever they may be. I've never heard anything so absurd. It feels like they either don't want new patients with my insurance plan or have some bizarre internal system designed to screen people out. I honestly don't understand why some of these doctors are even in this field if they clearly don't want to help anyone. Amherst is in-network, so this makes even less sense. I've moved across the country before and never had an issue. You find a new doctor, bring your prescriptions, get your refills, and start care. That's the job they signed up for. But if you're expecting anything logical or helpful from Amherst Family Practice, you'll be sorely disappointed. Don't waste your time like I did. If I'd known they were going to play these games, I could've spent the last 10 days finding someone else.

Due to the diagnostic coding my insurance ( Anthem) did not cover procedure and I paid out of pocket. Just be cautious and ask questions up front about whether your procedure will be coded preventive care or diagnostic . Definitely know for next time . Email from Winchester Gastro Associates: (Unfortunately, this procedure cannot be build as a preventative screening, due to a history of polpys. If a polyp is removed or abnormal tissue is found during a screening, future colonoscopies (surveillance) become diagnostic, even if the patient feels fine, because the time interval for follow-up shortens. A screening colonoscopy becomes diagnostic when the physician finds and removes a polyp, takes a tissue sample (biopsy), or identifies an abnormality that requires further investigation during the procedure. While it begins as a preventive, routine check, it converts to a diagnostic procedure for billing purposes once a, medical condition is discovered that needs treatment or analysis. We do offer payment plans with no interest if this is something you would like to set up, I would be happy to help. I hope this information helps.)
