It's definitely not the cheapest clothes shop out there, but you can always guarantee quality with Next, and I think you pay a fair price for what you get. Clothes that I buy easily last for the time that my child is in them and are still in good enough condition to be passed onto a second and third child. I think children, particularly boys, make a good test of the quality of clothing since they know how to wear them out quickly, and Next has definitely surpassed the quality test better than any other clothes brand my children own. While many clothes stores seem to have a continuous sale, which often appears as a ploy just to get people through the door, Next are one of the few shops to offer a genuine sale at a few select times of the year. People do go totally crazy for the Next sale though, and I personally find it a crowded nightmare, but there are definitely bargains to be had!

There is always enough parking and even though there is suppose to be a cost for parking that you can reclaim, this is never in force whenever I have been there. However, the TK Maxx ethic is to create a 'jumble sale' feeling, where the shopper is encouraged to hunt for bargains. You have to sift your way through long rails of clothing to find something you like, and it can be rather time consuming but that's fine if you have the time. This store is pretty big and I like it.

They have great underwear obviously for the bigger busted women, which can be quite hard to find these days. Also a good selection of wide fit comfortable and fashionably boots. the only downside is the prices, sometimes it's a bit steep but I suppose you pay for quality. Sometimes you can get a few bargains. But be prepared to spend quite a bit on an outfit.

The food department, though small has a lot of stock and you can pick up anything from frozen food, to ready meals, snacks or that indulgent treat at the end of the week. They have an okay selection of wine (Could do better but it is a small store and what they stock is good quality wine) and a good selection of soft drinks. This is a good place to pop to before a party to pick up a nice food item to impress.

I…read morehad been living in Hitchin for over a month, and I saw this super cute, colorful store front being built, and, like a little kid, I kept pressing my face to the window (if you have ever seen the movie Chocolate, it was kinda like that). Finally, it was OPEN! I ran inside. There was a life size woman, who, literally WAS ALICE! She was totally beautiful, with rosy cheeks, long blond hair, huge eyes, a curvy figure, bright tights and an equally charming personality. She apologized for being a bit down (?), but explained the store's grand opening had been the night before, and she was a wee bit under the weather. Everything in the store reflected her glowing colorfulness. Hot pink bags, big enough to fit my records AND my lap top, cool clutches that even my picky lesbian cousins thought were cool (i just HAD to mention that, since my cousins buy stuff for me based upon if they think it is ugly- if they think it's hideous, they know I will like it. Helen's stuff is the first and LAST time we have ever agreed on ANY fashion item!!). Funky necklaces of baby deers, earrings of coke bottles- I wanted everything! Helen is super inspiring, since she makes her own bags herself, so by purchasing her stuff, you are actually supporting an indie artist, not some random "made in China by a poor under nourished child." She is so cool, you want to hang with her all day long. I ended up buying a big bag with a cupcake on the side, and a fab purse with fish / newspapers backed with chips (this is the piece my aforementioned cousins and I agree is HOT). Helen is totally worth a visit to Hitchin, I swear!
