One of the worst trips. I bought a Groupon which they did not allow me to use when I called for the reservations so I had to charge the trip on my card and still have the Groupon on my phone. The boat was over capacity by 6 people. Which they pulled out knowing there were more people than holsters. They charged $7 for the jigs. Then the mates went around and took them back when the people went inside to nap. Only around 30 fishes caught all day. Waste of time. Don't go on this boat. And they did not give a fishing report on the day. read more

My husband and I took our kids for their first time on a boat. We were lucky enough to see a whale. Good experience until the lady that does the concession stand gave my husband a nasty attitude just for asking about the hotdogs that were included in our Groupon deal. My husband asked her if he could get the hotdogs and if she wanted to see the Groupon and after the huffin and puffin she looks at him and says " I'm over it". If she doesn't like to do her job then she shouldn't be working with paying customers. It was nice until it wasn't. Will most likely try a different boat next time. read more

The deck hands Jake and Alana were great. Everything else was poorly organized and executed. After paying for a 3/4 day trip, they put me on the wrong boat, which was for a 1/2 hour trip. Hardly any fish caught and I didn't see a single keeper on the boat. They just dont know how to find fish or run their business. Read the reviews and find another fishing/whale-watching boat. I wanted to go whale watching for my birthday and did some research and chose Miss Belmar based off reviews and glad I did! What an amazing day! My daughter and I were able to use Groupons, very affordable! As soon as we left the pier we were surrounded by a huge pod of dolphins! We saw so many whales that day! And we learned a lot too, the staff are very informative and friendly! They really care about what they do! We did a whale watching in Boston about 7 years ago and this was so much better, who knew in NJ! Definitely recommend! read more

First time ever fishing so wasn't sure what to expect. I thought miss belmar was a good experience but definitely had some cons. It was such an overcrowded boat. There were so many times my line was caught on to someone else's because they were so close to me. Also, with a group of 5 people doing a 3/4 trip, it was insane that we only caught one fish the entire time. The same employees fishing were the only ones catching fishes whereas most people on the boat did not. Plus there were a lot of people smoking, and some of the attendants had a lot of attitude towards helping out when our lines got stuck. read more

have been on one of their boats before on a fishing excursion, this is why I chose them to do a 3 hour whale watching tour. As usual the staff were friendly and helpful. We had a crew-mate named Rich near us to help with any issues, he was super friendly, guided as how to get the best pix & even helped me get my grilled to order food from the galley, which was good! The woman on the loudspeaker was extremely informative about whales in general, which types come to NJ, how they feed & breed. Unfortunately I didn't get her name. We enjoyed our time out at sea, although no whales breeched we did get to see plenty of action. Maybe next time I'll get that breeching photo? I have gone on several whale watching tours on the Miss Belmar Princess and highly recommend them. The crew works hard to make the experience exceptional for all. I would NOT recommend Jersey Shore Whale Watching, as I had a very poor experience with them. Miss Belmar is outstanding! read more

I have to say this about this boatbsnd crew. Having basically grown up with a fishing rod in my hand, I have to admit this is the BEST boat and crew (Head boat that is) I have ever fished with. Now at first the mates annoyed me. They kept wanting to tie my rigs on. Now for the novice fisherman that is great, but I have been Fly Fishing since I'm 8 years old, and I am now 59. After the umteenth time telling them I will tie my own rig on. I explained to them that I fly FishFish, and I probably tie more fly's on in one day than they tie rigs. They then let me do my own. Now I have also owned a 24 foot boat, and I ran a 25 foot Grady White and also a 43foot Jersey Sport Fisher. I spent many a weekend in the Canyons accessable to The Jersey Bite. So I do have the knowledge and experience to assess the product. I'm also a Sport Fisherman and I religiously do Catch And Release, so to their surprise when I caught a Striper I told them to let it go. They were do surprised that even the Captain came out and to be sure I was serious. Well I have to say that the mates and the Captain all shook my hand and basically said your a good man, too bad more people don't do that. The crew in general work their asses off and the Captain has no priblem burning fuel to ensure the boat and fishetmen are catching fish. I have been on Head Boats where the Captain goes to his destination and basically parks there till its time to go. That is not a boat I would ever go on again. The Miss Belmar is one boat that will move and move and move again to do everything possible to give their customers the best possible chance to succeed. Now you have to realize, sometimes the Captain can do everything in his power to succeed, but the fish just don't cooperate. That is not the Captains Fault. The call it FISHING not CATCHING for a reason. So no not every trip is going to produce, but this Crew will do everything possible to cstch them. I highly recommend this boat to fish on, in fact thisvis the only boat I will use snymore, and that statement is this boat and crew, and I will standby it. The experience was great for my kids, niece, nephew, Mom and Aunt but there was just a few issues. Firstly, the bathroom on the boat was disgusting and did not flush. Secondly, per the site we purchased the tickets from it mentioned that we would receive a free hot dog and a Whale Watching T-shirt which I was told by one of the members on the boat that's nothing they provide. Thirdly, when I went to purchase food there was a $20 min to use a card? I have never heard anything like this before maybe $5 min but $20 is a bit much. read more

They cancelled on us 5 times I wouldn't recommend you if they were the last boat around. They don't care that people take vacation days off work to go out and they cancel the night before 5 times! What a disgrace they have no respect for your customers They will claim it is due to weather or some other issue but the truth is it's because they can not fill the boat so they don't think it's worth going out. From Pennsylvania, I made reservations on the Miss Belmar during the summer. When I boarded the boat the seating was shoulder to shoulder. There was no place to put my small ice chest. I knew the lines would be tangled and I would be upset. Then I was asked to move so a group could be co-located. So I got off the boat after ensuring I would get a refund which I did. Glad others had a great time but since I came a long way to fish, I won't do that again. read more

What a great experience! It was memorial day weekend so I was afraid of the masses but everything was very much organized there was a few extra deckhands that took care of all of the hook and line work which really left us fishing the entire time we were anchored. GREED PREVAILED!!! Would like to first state that I attempted sereval times to contact the owner by text and phone messages and calls to the office. "Heather" in the office finally told me that the owner may call me back or he may not, that it's up to him, but he did receive my message. Took a trip on the Miss Belmar, 11/6 7:30A - 2:30P. Called around 5:30am and was told that there was "plenty of room". By the time the boat sailed I was told that there were 105pp on board. The cost for most was $95 + $15 for pole rental + $6/$10 for one jig which was ALL there was to fish with. No live bait. This little detail was not posted on their website. If you had no additional money, you were not fishing. My jig was eventually chomped in half by a dog fish, so I had to buy another $10 jig. The person next to me lost their jig in the massive tangle of lines and had to buy another $10 jig. He spent $30 on jigs. Customers spent half their fishing time untangling lines. We had to turn back to back in order to get our poles in the water. Even then not everyone was able to fish at the rail. I and other customers took turns letting people fish while we stepped back. It was one young man's first experience fishing on a boat. There were not enough seats, especially while traveling hours up and down the coastline. Customers had to literally climb over each other to get to the bathroom and the galley. My back hurt so bad when I arrived home. Out of 105pp, NO ONE caught any fish to keep. Every spot that the captain stopped at was fished no longer than 10 minutes. While I understand that not catching fish can happen having fished all my life, it was very clear that the owner did not care about the safety or comfort of his customers. It was all about the money. So much so that the crew herded everyone on board so fast that not everyone had filled out their Coast Guard registration card or paid. Midtrip the crew commanded everyone to stop fishing in order to retrieve their stubs so that the non payers could be sorted out. Unreal!!! Before docking, the crew ran around signing everyone's stub offering $10 off on the next trip. The captain then asked that the customers to not blame the crew for the horrible trip, but to make sure to tip them because they depend on tips, which I gave although they did absolutely next to nothing, except help with untangling lines and taking an occasional dog fish off a hook. A nearby customer could be heard tallying what the owner probably raked in for the trip, around $12,500. This was my fourth trip on the Miss Belmar, but definitely my last and anyone else who asks me for a recommendation. Too many other charters in the sea. read more

Overcrowded, told by some people we had to move because there were designated area where groups of friends took up the boat. Horribly organized and jam packed. Bad planning. 5 of the same people caught fish on the poppers and then They ran out of poppers to purchase, they never switched to bait fish or a different type of fishing. If only 6 of the same people catch fish they should change tactics... Toilet clogged. People not enforcing smoking area. Just disappointing all around. Had a group of 3 but won't join this boat again. I have caught a large cooler full of fish on your boat in the past and not catching fish is one thing but dealing with these issues is another. read more

The day i went out the boat had no bait.Crew said we had to catch a mackeral first.Went many minutes,several times ,with no bait,so we could not fish.Got zero help from the mates.Had to untie snarls and tie on my own rigs,remove my own fish,etc.Then they jammed everyone into the cabin so they could clean the boat on way in.I will not go back. read more

Went on a trip on the miss belmar 8-17-2019. They have a great crew on board. Very attentive to your needs. The deck hand joe is one hell of a caster. If you can ask him to catch a fish for you. Only thing I didn't like. You pay 80 dollars to fish and people pay 30 dollars to ride and watch. Now the people who people who payed to fish are squished between people being slick paying for one to fish and one to watch. The people who payed to watch shouldn't be able to come onto by the rail it's already tight. I would hope they change that rule. They have a huge upper deck and a huge sitting area in the center of the boat. It was terrible I had to deal with that most of the day. Besides that a great day out the captain went out far to find those fish. My family alone caught 25 fish. Ps don't bring bananas on the boat it's bad ju ju read more

It was an awful day on the water - cold as hell and no one caught anything. The boat was at max capacity because they canceled their other boat and combined us all into one. On top of that the current kept dragging my line under the boat and kept getting tangled up on the lines on the other side. The crewmember cut my line and lost the lure I had to purchased for $10. I had to then purchase another one. The crew was not really friendly either. I don't recommend these party boats at all. read more

Overcrowded. We caught a few fish but it wasnt great. Lines kept tangling cause too many ppl. Rods/reels available were junk. Bring your own but make sure its HD because they are gonna have you dropping 8-9oz sinkers to avoid tangles with other peoples lines. Probably wouldnt go with them again. I have been out with this boat and crew a few times this year. Each experience was great. The crew are very friendly and are there to assist in all aspects of the fishing experience, baiting hooks, helping land and unhook fish (and there were some monsters !) They made everything extremely enjoyable. The captain and crew are not happy unless they provide everyone with a great days fishing. They will move the boat as required in order to find fish. They do not disappoint. If you look at the website you will see pictures of people with their catches, and there are some pretty awesome fish! I highly recommend this boat and crew whether you are a novice or experienced fisherman. ***** COVID restrictions were respected and the boat was clean and sanitized. Social distancing was addressed by having a half full capacity which I appreciate is a financial hardship running a boat of that size. read more

Right off the bat the crew was selling diamond jigs for five dollar a piece. One of mates who had a spinning reel show how easy it was to catch blue fish. Since everyone on the boat had bait casting reels could not reel in the jig fast enough to catch anything. I kept bugging one of the mates to start chumming so we could use bait instead of the Diamond jigs. He finally started chumming and I put a munnet on my hook. First cast I hooked a good size blue. People were changing over to bait and catching fish. It was sad that I had to keep nagging the crew to chum so we could hook some fish. It seemed that the crew was more interested in selling jigs than catching fish. Also they didn't want to use bait or chum which does cost money. The cost of the chum and bait is included with you fare, if used cost the crew money. Otherwise it was a pleasant trip.' read more

all boats go to raritan bay where the fish are early season spring. we drove around back and forth up and down the coast looking for something but to no avail. why not go straight to raritan bay where you know there will be fish?? after i found out we were not going to raritan bay i stopped fishing because i knew nothing would come of this trip and obviously they cut the trip short and went home early. very disappointing to say the least. i had my son on the trip with me and we both were really disappointed with the trip. read more
