R. emergency room, I was hooked up and totally ignored, while the staff was loud, laughing and seemed like they were having a party. I understand that they have to stay UP, but to the patient who is sick it's NO party. I finally had to unhook myself go to the door after 45 minutes or more almost screaming to get help, and wave to get attention, to go to the bathroom. My problem today was; that the staff answering the phone at Singing River and the last time I called seemed like they were out partying all night, very sick, couldn't articulate, yawned several times during the call, seemed like they were drugged, or just seemed like they would rather be anywhere else. I finally got a person in the radiology department that was Great, answered all my questions and was very helpful. We all have bad days, but after it happened like 4 times on the same day, I think someone needs to pay attention to the customer service/ phone etiquette procedures and provide training classes. Not being mean, just feel someone needs to address the situation.

This is how they legally overcharge you here: first they charge your insurance for the 'physician services' (say $200), for which you generally pay a copay. Normally my copay is only $15 for a doctor visit, and that's all I pay. But not at this place! Because here, on top of that, they charge your insurance AGAIN in the same exact amount (so another $200), only this time, it's charged as 'hospital services,' which are generally subject to deductibles and coinsurance amounts. All of that equates to a much higher out-of-pocket expense for you. It's like going to get a haircut and the hairdresser telling you afterwards "okay so your haircut was $40, and you owe me another $40 on top of that because I cut your hair inside a salon." It's very deceptive & they don't tell you any of that up front.

Terrible experience! I read an article came out a couple weeks came out saying that the medical…read moreindustry is not in the business of healing and it's in the business of making money. I experienced that firsthand. I came to the Emergency Room due to severally spraining my ankle last week. I should have crawled home instead of coming and wasting my time. I arrived there around 7pm. Now I know military medical installments are always "hurry up and wait". They'll say "we'll be with you in a couple minutes", those minutes are longer than expected. Anyways, where was I? I had X-Rays, completed - done. No damage. I was in so much pain and asked for some type of medicine. I didn't get anything until 9pm. The Dr. came and asked if I was okay. Ummm, yeah...no I'm not. Now that wasn't what had me livid. After all the exams and X-Rays, I was told I would be sent home in a boot and crutches. Waited another hour. One of the assistants asked my height for the correct crutches and asked my shoe size for the boot. Told her and she said "I'll be back in a couple of minutes". I smirked at that. Dr. came back and said "we don't have your height in crutches nor do with have the size boot, so you're free to go home". I looked at him as if he was speaking a language I didn't understand. I was more shocked at how nonchalant he said it. As if, he knew when I came in the ER what the outcome was going to be. I told him, what am I supposed to do now. He literally ‍. Then I said "this is BS and what kind of business are y'all running? "If I were an 0-5 (Officer) I can guarantee you that you all would have found crutches and a boot". I was just shocked how there is no inventory on the basic things you would need at an ER. It sucks because being a military member you would think there would be some kind of help, but it's not. Which goes back to me now really thinking that the medical industry doesn't care. It's about a dollar. I was better off doing the RICE method. Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation. It would have save me time spent and the agony. Lesson learned. I ended up going to an outside civilian ER and hobbled out of there in a boot and crutches with NO HESITATION.
