The enmoladas chicken was tough and mole wasn't that flavorful. WORST part was the rice and beans! Awful, microwaved flavor rice and old tasting beans, I mean how hard is it to make your traditional dish? I saw the Mexican cooks. How lazy are you? This was so disappointing I cannot believe it. Low food quality and not even good authentic Mexican food which surprised me again because they were Mexican cooks.

They told me at all cost to avoid anything other than Taqueria la Escondida. With such high praise, I had to set my course. They warned me that it was a food truck. Warned me? C'mon! That is something that I would look to add to the plus side of my visit. Even though I didn't know my way around town, I easily found the non-descript white trailer in a dusty parking lot on the side of the road. Wow! What a Central Florida treasure. I ordered two steak tacos that were just fantastic. At only $2 apiece, I contemplated ordering another round. There are no tables, so I ate from the back of my Honda which I thought added to the charm. I have a few more trips to Wauchula over the next few months planned for business. Without a doubt, Taqueria la Escondida will be a part of the destination each time.

Menu was vauge. We got 10 tacos of different varieties, all great. there was a slight language barrier but all taken in stride super nice people both as employees and patrons. best part is u dressed up your food; red or green salsa, onions tomatoes, lime, cilantro, pickled veg plus some other things, and it was all fresh and delicious. the pastry and breads looked awesome too. this is an older local market so take it in stride if u cant deal with rubbing shoulders with all society.......adventure is sometimes rewarded. one lone picknick bench out front. the Manager and kitchen employees were nice enough to let us eat inside as it was cold out and he overhead me saying so in parking lot before we sat down at picknik bench, they pulled out a table wiped it down grabbed some chairs and my family was set up in the warmth.
