I had my first experience with Mirror Sound last month. They helped my remote production agency get my Voice Over demo tracks done. This was a great experience! Working with Derek as my sound engineer was amazing. He made sure that I was comfortable and had everything I needed. He professionally and efficiently set up the room so that I'd have the best possible sound on my tracks. He worked tirelessly with my remote producer to get all the takes needed for our production staff. He offered his opinion, when asked, on our demo scripts to make sure that they sounded grammatically correct and smooth. Lastly and most importantly, he drove that soundboard like a starship captain pilots his ship, clearly the master of his domain. Thank you so much for making my first in-booth experience - and the creation of my all-important VO Demo - a fun and memorable one. read more

I made the mistake of taking the recording course. When the original date was altered, there was ZERO contact by the instructor. Course was pushed out nearly two months. Course finally starts, and I find myself dealing with his intern while he typically showed up 20-30 minutes after the start of class. As we neared the final class, I received a call about him trying to get a live band in for us to observe....still haven't had that final class....it's been 2 years. If your intent is to take his class, DON'T waste your time or you money!! read more

Mirror Sound Studio is the best! My wife and I were traveling in Seattle for the weekend (we live in LA). At the airport, she got an email from her agent about a big VO role, but the submission was due the next day. Since we were out of town, we didn't have access to any of our recording equipment. So, we frantically started calling recording studios in the area. Mirror Sound called us back immediately, and were able to fit us in the next morning. Both Ken and Matt were very professional, and were amazing to work with. The VO demo recording turned out great - it was a comfortable, relaxed environment to work in, and the sound quality was excellent. The next time we're in Seattle and need to do some recording, the only place we'll go is Mirror Sound Studio! read more

As a newbie to the voice-over community when it came time to record my demo reels I was naturally a little nervous about going into a studio for the very first time. I must say, Matt at Mirror Sound Studios made me feel comfortable and relaxed. As we got going with the recordings I was thoroughly impressed with the quality of the equipment and the entire studio itself. Somehow they got my last review deleted. So I guess I'll…read moretype up another one. I emailed Joe, the owner of Orbit Audio. I requested 4 weeks in advance to have a spot booked up. I messaged back and forth with the audio engineer he assigned. As a side note, I flew from San Francisco, CA to Seattle, WA to record with them. 3 days before hand, they told me I was still good to go for the session. With about 16 hours before my session they cancelled on me telling me they had booked someone else and couldn't take me in. As a musician of 25+ years, they treated me like a 'second rate' musician. So let me tell you this. If you're an indie artist, DO NOT go here. They cancelled on me just to get a couple more hours of time booked. A little bit of extra money in their pockets. They didn't take into account that I had spent the previous 4 weeks non-stop preparing for the session, just to cancel on me with less than 24 hours notice. These are audio engineers, not artists or musicians. They simply do not care about anything other than the money in their pockets. When I was told I was cancelled, they tried to get me to go to another location at one of their audio engineers house. Please tell me how if I'm looking at paying anywhere between $500-$1,000 for a day of recording and mastering that I would want to go to someones house to record. They will rush you and attempt to take advantage of you. Stay away from here. P.s. If you don't believe me, here's a screenshot from the owner apologizing forgetting to book me. Even though they had CONFIRMED with me 3 days prior to cancellation that I was good to go for the session. Did I mention I flew into Seattle, WA from San Francisco, CA to do this session

From the beginning the session was fluid and the dialogue clear (not always easy when it comes to music). Studio is equipped with anything you would need, unless you are an orchestra. I didn't record in the large live room he has available, so I will just speak to what we did. Voice, acoustic/electric guitar, bass (which he kindly let me borrow), some percussion, and samples. I was very impressed with how quickly he captured the acoustic guitar and vocals in iso booth, spot on and much more efficient than even the bigger (i.e. more expensive) studios I have been at. I had a pretty good vision of what I wanted, but Frank really helped guide the song through the editing process like it was his own. He also logged in several hours gratis doing the rough mixing, a huge time saver as I usually end up just sitting around nodding my head when it comes to that stuff. I only planned on one song, but would most definitely return in future. Thank you Frank!

I originally heard about Mirror Sound Studios from ads for their PARC Course (Practical Audio Recording Course). I wanted to get a head start on home recording, and the course is a great introduction to classic recording techniques and best practices. I was eager after the PARC Course to focus on more Pro Tools, and continued with another course specifically designed to improve Pro Tools skills. I used these skills to record our bands last 2 CD's. Our latest CD wasn't really getting the sonic punch I was looking for (using home mix), so I reached out to Ken to see if we could mix the CD at Mirror sound. When we were finished, the final mixes had the 'glue' and consistency we were looking for. We were really happy with the results. Mirror Sound is a great studio for small bands such as ours. It is well equipped with some top notch equipment, and the rates are very reasonable. The atmosphere is laid back and casual, and you don't feel like you are 'lost' in a large commercial studio. Ken and his staff are very friendly and accommodating, and I would not hesitate to recommend Mirror Sound for the classes or any recording projects. read more

I was looking for a studio that provided a course that would further add to my education and pursuit to be an Audio Engineer. Mirror Sound Studio was the perfect environment.
