His teacher never even asked what the kids' names were and had to find out what his teacher's name was by hearing another lifeguard calling for him. Lucas it was. The Guppy class. He had absolutely no control over his class. He let the kids who weren't having thier turn jumping in and out of the water and swimming around not paying attention. And he was definately not paying attention to them. He never taught them any swimming strokes. Just told them to do the backstroke and freestyle stroke 5 feet. He just watches them and never gave any critteique. Not once. They never swam even 1 length of the pool. Not sure how they can go from this class to the Gater class when the Gater class is swimming lengths of the pool the whole time practically. He did not know any of each kids strengths or weaknesses. Teaching them to dive from the sitting position on the side of the pool when some kids could do a great job standing. Then has kids who couldn't even do a fairly good job from the side of the pool to doing it from the diving board. Unbelievable.

I went for the Aqua-Zen & Hydro-Fitness classes. The teachers were both great; energetic and engaging. The classes were a mix of people. Lots of boaters, but that might be true for anything in Ft. Lauderdale. Water aerobics is easier on the joints so while it's good for everyone, it's one of the few exercises people can do if they have joint issues, or are recovering from an injury. While it isn't the same as swimming laps, I was definitely sore after my first class. I also like that classes are often back-to-back. So if you're like me and want to do two classes in a row it's easy to do. Your first class is free. If you just want to try it, see what it's like, you can go at no charge to you. If you enjoy it classes end up costing about $4 a class. Much more reasonable than Soul Cycle or Orange Theory and still a great work out. And it's outside! Hydro Fitness*: Monday, Wednesday, Friday 10 - 11 a.m. Water Aerobics I Schedule*: Monday, Wednesday, Friday 8:30 - 9:30 a.m. Saturday 10 - 11 a.m. Aqua Zen Schedule*: Wed 11:15 a.m. - 12:15 p.m. Pricing: Resident: $30/10-visits $75/30-visits Non-Resident: $45/10-visits $112.50/30-visits Senior/Military Resident: $15/10-visits $45/30-visits Senior/Military Non-Resident: $25/10-visits $75/30-visits If you wanted to do your own lap swim routine, Adult Swim is at the same time as the classes. There are lockers on site. Bring your own lock. Everyone in the class was also really nice. I think they said they even go out to lunch once a month. If you're into water sports it's a good way to get some water based cross training in.

She was the first woman to hold a strong mayor position in Florida, serving four times, from 1962 to 1974 and as a council member from 1981 to 1987. Her father William Booth, was one of the five people who donated money to help incorporate Davie in 1959. In 1998 Mrs. Roberts was honored as Humanitarian of the Year by the Davie/Cooper City Chamber of Commerce for her community service. For many years Betty and her husband ran a nursery along Southwest 61st Avenue, near Orange Drive where this park now stands. Mrs. Roberts passed away from cancer in 2004 from cancer at the age of 79. Betty Booth Robert Park amenities include two shelters with with electricity that can hold up to twenty-five people and be rented, a covered playground with climbing structures and ADA accessible swing, basketball courts, a multiuse field, and paved exercise path with outdoor fitness equipment. The park also has a 33 meter by 13 yard heated pool with 2 tube waterslides, open seasonally from June until September. Admission to the pool is $2 adults, $1.50 children, and $1 seniors. If you have questions you can reach out to them at 954-797-1146. This park is a great resource for recreation to the town of Davie. If you want to throw an economical pool birthday party by renting a pavilion and paying the inexpensive price for pool admission. The park has a lot of beautiful old trees and the outdoor fitness equipment looked brand new. I am sure that Davie pioneer Betty Booth Robert would enjoy knowing that generations of Davie families are enjoying her namesake park.

The park isn't very big but it has some basketball courts and a nice big playground. The bathrooms were pretty gross. They also have a pool area with two big slides which seem great for bigger kids but not little ones. The pool part was closed so I'm not sure if you have to pay or how much it would be. All in all it's nothing to rave about but a cool neighborhood park.
