My son, Eliot , and I had an overnight trip on the Mirage . This was our first time out to the ocean. The crew & captain were outstanding with all their help and attention. It was an amazing experience, much better than I could have imagined. Thank you for everything and we will be returning.

Captain knows where fishes are. The crews know how to help anglers. Whatelse do you need for fishing? Everyone on the boat is really nice, helpful, and encouraging. The best crew member and they make sure to help you land thoses fishes you hook. I wish I can be on morage everyweek.

The MIRAGE is my first choice for sportfishing. Captain Tucker is the best in the business. He puts you on the sweet spot every time. Just look at the fish counts. Tuk is the man. He finds the fish and leaves the rest to us. The crew is top of the mark too. Ryan, Shane and Chase are there to assist you so you can enjoy the best fishing experience ever. Andrew is the best galley cook you'll ever meet. His smile is infectious. If you are looking to book a sportfishing trip, look no further. You have found the best boat to fish on. You'll see why they are the most consistent boat on the Pacific Coast. Be sure and remember to tip your deckhands. They are the hardest working crew I have had the privilege to fish with. They are always there to help you at a moments notice. And don't forget Andrew either. It's rare when a Galley Cook brings you your beer or burger to the rail as you fish. I could go on, but you get where I am going here. Thanks to Joe and Erin for everything! Without you, there would not be the MIRAGE!

First catch of the day, and the only WHITE SEABASS that day. thanks to all the crews that helped me out. You guys are awesome.

Me and my friend was invited to overnight fishing with mirage on june 30th to july 1st. This was our first time fishing out to the sea, We both have little to none fishing experiences. The crew members goes above and beyond to make sure their guest are having fun. Me and my friend are spoiled by the crew hahah shout out to "LARRY and ALEX". All of crews are really friendly, helpful, make sure no one comes home empty handed. All i can say is this, if i ever get a chance to fish again, i would love to go with the mirage again. I would highly reccomend everyone if you like fishing.

Probably the best sport fishing boat operation in its class north of San Diego. They specialize in fishing the Channel islands for rockfish, lingcod, halibut and white sea bass. Like the finest restaurants who serve great food they must also have great service . For a sport fishing boat they must catch fish, and have great customer service as well. The Mirage and crew are excellent at both, and they consistently catch fish. First they (Capt. Tucker for us) always puts you on the fish... they know the spots was well as whats working. The galley (Andrew) has top quality burgers and breakfast items ..... not like most boats with average food. The deckhands (Ryan and Shane) are always there to help .... tangles are freed , fish are gaffed fast, and they always work hard with a smile! I cannot tell you how important that is on a fishing trip !!! Thats the reason why they are chartered 90% of the time ..... If you can charter the boat or get on a trip you will not be sorry!! Be sure to tip the crew 20% + like you would a nice dinner !! ..... really they work harder . When do you see servers cleaning the restaurant (wash the boat) , working 12+ hr shifts, and prepping the food (cleaning the fish) ?

How's the new captain? Tucker was on the fish trip after trip.

The last time I went, we were fishing in 500 to 600' deep water. It wasn't fun, cranking it up, letting it down cranking it up letting it down. I don't wanna fish in water that deep. We will have a group of about 10 or more people people... Three… Read more

Even NBC 7's helicopter eventually ran out of fuel while trying to film the event! It took me almost an hour in the morning to drive from Pasadena to Ventura Beach. I set the GPS to navigate to the pier, where there is a garage nearby. I drove in and found it completely unattended; the fee booth was empty. After driving around inside, I found an outdoor parking lot that was even closer to the pier. There was no one at the entrance, likely because it is the "off-season." It was less than 20 meters from the parking lot to the wooden steps of the pier. There were fewer than 20 people on the pier that morning, even though it was nearly 8:00 AM. The restaurant wasn't open yet, and they likely don't open during this time of year. Walking on the pier is very peaceful, even if the sound of the sea is quite loud. The public restrooms were clean as well. It is a wonderful break to have on the drive from Los Angeles to San Jose. My recommendation: go there early during the quiet season.

The end of the pier had a lot of people fishing combined with some homeless people and after taking some pics and watching the surfers, we walked back. I noticed some picnic benches on the pier and a seafood spot to eat as well. If you're visiting by car to visit the pier for a quick stop. Do not park in the $10 flat rate parking lot. Just one the other side, there's a parking structure along with outdoor adjacent pier parking for way cheaper. We paid $2 for about 45 mins. Overall, cool to visit. But, the amount of homeless people hanging out around the bathrooms and pier area was a bit much.

We boarded the boat and got rigged up. Then ducked down to the bunk room for a quick nap until we arrived at anacapa island. Made a few drifts looking for seabass, on halibut hit the deck along with some scattered white fish and other incidental catches. Ended up leaving the island and heading east in search of game fish. Captain Mike and the crew worked hard but we weren't able to find anyone seabass, halibut, or yellowtail that were willing to bite. Headed offshore for some shallow water rock fishing. Caught some nice sculpin. Then moved to deeper water after a few drifts in search of other species. Found some reds, occasionally, chuckle heads, and starrys. A few lingcod made their way onboard as well. We tried anchoring at anacapa for some more shots at game species. Several calico bass, most shorts but at least on keeper was in the bag. Pulled the hook and headed back to Ventura. Grabbed another nap after derigging my rods and reels. I fish a lot and was impressed with the whole operation at Ventura harbor Sportfishing from the reservation to handing out fosh filets after the trip. I'll be back an hopefully find the white seabass next time.

Drive here the evening before the fishing trip to get acquainted with the area. Initially, the guy didn't pay any attention to us or even acknowledge that we existed. Finally, he noticed us as we were about to walk out. We confirmed where we can park in the morning and best time to arrive. On the morning of the trip, we got there super early to check in and this guy was more attendtive than the one the previous evening. Showed our ID and Fishing License and waited til it was time to board the boat, the Pacific Eagle. I normally don't get seasick but on my last fishing trip, the waters were extremely rough and sure enough, my tummy wasn't feeling well. I didn't want to take any chances, so I put on some motion sickness patches behind my ear as a just in case. Good thing I did! Since it was going to be a few hours before arriving to our destination, we went down to the bunks to take a quick nap. When it was time to drop our lines, we did just that. we caught some Sculpin, White Fish, Calico Bass, Starrys, and a small lincod. Others caught Reds, a Sheephead, Halibut, Whitefish, Sculpins and Starrys as well. Captain Mike and the Crew were extremely helpful and patient with us. Doug was the chef of the day - makes a great breakfast sandwich. I wasn't hungry for lunch tho. I told him that he's an Asian Pro - cooking with them chopsticks! I do the same. LOL Our fishies were filleted and I kept a couple of my fishies whole, but also kept the skeletons just in case I wanted to make fish stock. All in all, a fun trip!

We spent 3.5 hours on the boat before a single line even hit the water. After finally starting, we fished for about 30 minutes, only to pack up again and spend another 1.5 hours cruising to a different spot near an oil rig. Yes, the fishing improved there--but by then, most of the trip had already been wasted just moving around. On what's supposed to be a ¾-day trip, we spent roughly 5.5 hours doing nothing but traveling, dealing with tangled lines, and waiting. That's not "a slow day of fishing"--that's poor planning and inexperience. It was openly stated this was a new crew, including the captain, and unfortunately, it showed. To be fair, the deckhand was great--helpful and professional. But that couldn't make up for everything else. What really crossed the line for me was the environment on board. At one point, another angler yelled at my son, blaming him for a tangled line--only for it to be proven it wasn't even his fault. That should never happen, especially on a trip where families and kids are present. Completely unacceptable. Then, when we picked up our catch, we were given more fish than we actually caught. I understand sharing when limits are reached--but this felt off, like we were handed someone else's hard-earned catch. That takes away from the whole experience. At the end of the day, the low price makes sense--you truly get what you pay for. But I'd rather spend a little more for a well-run, respectful, and enjoyable trip than deal with chaos, wasted time, and a hostile environment. If you're considering this charter--especially if you have kids--I strongly recommend you look elsewhere. I've gone out with Ciscos Sportfishing multiple times, and they have never let me down. Professional crews, organized trips, and a much more family-friendly atmosphere. Save yourself the frustration. Go with a crew that knows what they're doing and actually values your time and experience. Date of trip: 4/4/26 Boat: Coroloma
