Call and make reservations! At least for dinner. I had reservations for 2000 and saw them turn away…read moreeveryone until around 2200. I won't lie, I wasn't too impressed with this place. Part of it was the service. I felt like they didn't give me the best service, especially watching them interact with other customers. I was the only American there and maybe that was why? Especially when the head chef came out to share a goat cheese (which was quite good). He didn't seem to want to interact with me, like he had no patience for me. I ordered the squid lasagna, the grilled fish and a local starter-but I apologize I don't remember the name and forgot to take a pic. In the English menu, it's listed as its Sardinian name-there's no translation for it. This and the lasagna were ok at best. I wouldn't order either one of them again. The lasagna really interested me as I've never had a squid lasagna and was really intrigued but the flavors of the squid and their lasagna clashed a bit. It was almost not good, like a bitter distaste. The grilled fish was the best and pretty solid but not amazing (like a 3.5). I finished with their version of creme brule which wasn't bad. The table bread they serve though, is really tasty. So dinner wasn't all too successful. I've got to try the lunch menu next time.

Best was however the perfectly fried calamari served with deep fried zucchini. We had it both days, and quality was consistently high. The house wine was good and bread freshly baked, which is quite often not the case. Also, the chef, or perhaps owner, walked around between tables and let us sample a home made cheese. Just a nice touch that added to the ambience. View over the water and a nice welcoming breeze makes it even better. Well worth a visit- or two...

During a recent visit to Alghero we came here for lunch following the suggestion of a local shop…read more We were not disappointed. The ambiance is nothing special (white walls with some contemporary paintings; a large TV showing Italian fiction with no audio), but the food did not disappoint. We decided to try the prix fixe lunch tasting menu which, for 25 euros it's an amazing deal: 4 starters (3 cold; 1 warm) plus a pasta dish, a bottle of mineral water, half a liter of house wine (for 2 people), 2 persons minimum. The first cold appetizer was cuttlefish with crispy vegetables, and this was perhaps the dish I enjoyed the most: tasty, refreshing, and delicious. This dish was followed by an octopus carpaccio with cucumber, tomatoes, and croutons; and then monkfish with purple cabbage, carrots, and radishes. The monkfish was nicely flaky and firm, but the flavor was somewhat lacking. The prawn tails with pane carasau breading and eggpant caviar was the warm starter, and it was delicious. The prawns were tasty and the carasau breading provided a nice contrast of consistencies with the eggplant caviar. The spaghetti alla chitarra dish with occhiata (sea bream) fillets, zucchini blossoms, fresh cherry tomatoes, and bottarga was satisfying, and it had an intense sea flavor that I particularly liked. Also, I'm a sucker for spaghetti alla chitarra, a type of fresh pasta that you don't find too often. Portions are large, and service is prompt and knowledgeable. If you decide to order fresh fish a la carte, they will bring you the fish first, and let you know the weight/cost, plus different ways they can prepare it. Plating was also very nice. They also serve pizza, but only for dinner.
