But unfortunately for last few years the sinus infections are back. Anyone who suffers from this knows they suck! So I went yesterday for my appointment and the staff are great. I called when I got there as that's protocol with the whole pandemic. They have hand sanitizer and of course a mask is a must. Wait was not that long. The doctor I saw Caitlin ( who I never met) was very Thorough and great. She looked in my sinuses and told me what I need to do going forward. She suggested another antibiotic as I've had sinus infection for 2 weeks now and also Blood work to be done and then a Cat Scan that I scheduled. When I go back in March, I will see Dr Gordon and after my results we will go from there. If you suffer from sinuses like I do, this ENT Facility is definitely the place to visit. They are very nice and understanding. I'm glad I finally went back!

To be specific, respectively so, a receptionist coughed into their hand without using hand sanitizer after doing that, which is especially worth noting since one of their tasks involves handling cards, including IDs and credit/debit cards. Equally bad is how said doctor metaphorically waved away my aforementioned concerns by rather condescendingly stating I hadn't been infected enough to treat them outside of immediate contexts. The icing on the cake came when I asked what I should do if I get infected again and was told to take more anti-biotics, which is what I had been doing... Going here is akin to a dead-end -- it'd be best to find a quality detour to avoid having to realize that personally.

As for the other departments, it really depends on which doctors and nurses happen to be working that day. Two months ago, my GI doctor sent me to the ER for a STAT CT scan. Even though he called ahead to let them know I was coming, I still had to wait about 3 hours to be seen. Once I was brought back, things moved quickly with a series of tests. Initially, I was placed in a large shared room with about 10 other patients, which was not going to work for me--I'm immunocompromised and very cautious about exposure. Thankfully, they were able to move me to a private room, which made a huge difference in how safe and relaxed I felt. They ran a bunch of tests, diagnosed a GI infection that had spread to my organs, they were supposed to give me IV antibiotics, but they ended up giving me them by mouth instead and monitored me for any allergic reactions before discharging me. I was very clear from the beginning that I have a complex medical history and that I know what I need. I've learned that being my own advocate is the only way to survive in today's healthcare system. The ER doctor even said, "You're really on top of things," and I reminded him, "I told you I would be." This particular visit was a somewhat positive experience--but that doesn't mean everything was ideal. The waiting room itself is honestly filthy, overcrowded, and... a bit scary.... I strongly considered waiting in my car to avoid picking up something else, but staff said I'd miss being called if I did that. It's disappointing that there aren't more accessible facilities in the area for STAT imaging like CTs or MRIs when you have a script and just need urgent outpatient care. That gap in care really needs to be addressed, but I know probably will never be.
