All of the teachers we have come in contact with have been extremely helpful and just want to see each student succeed to the best of their abilities. This junior high is ranked one of the top in the SW part of town and the parent club is very active. While you only attend two years it is a great transition before starting high school. I would recommend this school as well as the district it is located in to anyone looking to move to the area based on schools for your children.

Built in 1893, it's one of the oldest high schools in Central California, and after all of these years still boasts top-notch faculty, diverse student body, active parents and top students. It's also one of the only high schools in CA with streets and traffic bisecting it. *Highlights* - Elm Grove, a beautiful urban park in the middle of campus - The Drillers, a unique and distinctive mascot - Harvey Auditorium, the only real performing arts center in a Kern County high school - a WPA building, btw. - Warren Hall, 3-story main classroom building built in 1920s Beaux Arts style - Griffith Field, a top-notch stadium that is the envy of area high schools - Diversity, this is one of the most diverse h.s. in central California, both culturally and socio-economically - Blue & White, a nationally-award winning high school newspaper - Oil Derrick monument that fronts California Avenue - Offers the highest number of AP classes in the Kern High School District - Famous Alumni include Frank Gifford (of ABC Monday Night Football fame) and Earl Warren (U.S. Supreme Court Chief Justice) The teachers are overwhelmingly qualified and caring and it is as positive a time as one can have in high school. Students can go here and be very well prepared for college and graduate school. Every high school has its negatives. I'm certain that it is an awkward time for everyone, but I guess my conclusion is that BHS actually inspires growth and real-world collaboration compared to other high schools in the area.

Ok. I'm going to be 100% real here..This school is (in my opinion) the most AMAZING school! And I…read morehad my 2nd thoughts MANY times until my I went to my daughters game at another school and I saw that NO one was wearing their masks except for us! I got really concerned for the students health and ours. I made a yelp review for that school as well and I'm not going to name-names. I was seriously worried for my child's safety when I even thought about enrolling her anywhere before hand, but this school made me more confident in where she's going. I looked at some reviews and even some that maybe some people deleted but I'm going to keep this up for y'all in case this helps or makes our job easier Also, I must say the education here is fabulous! Though my child only goes she talks about her day like she's in the Thunder Cat's lol So I'm going to do you all a favor (those who are reading this) some reasons why you should go to this school by a parents POV: 1. This school tries it's best to bring controversy in the picture and make it comfortable for the students no matter their race which I love and most schools need. 2. ALL the staff members! At the beginning of the year I got to go to a back to school night and parent conferences. I know I wasn't able to see EVERY teacher but by the looks of it they looked very efficient. 3. The pay is worth it. Parents, if you've ever paid for you child tuention and it's not worth it you know where I'm going with this. It might be a little pricey/expensive but for what it's worth. There is not dime a dozen here. Your child might not be christian but they can learn! And maybe they don't that's fine but they still have to take it! lol By time they will get used it and their grades will definitely get up. 4. They have a really great extra curricular! I can't tell you because there would just be so much to say and I don't want to make you read a long list all day, your going to have to just find out your self!

Let's talk about favoritism. BCHS has a clear pattern of treating certain students better than…read moreothers. If you're not part of a well-known family or you don't fit a specific mold, don't expect the same opportunities or treatment. Whether it's in athletics, academics, or even discipline, there's a very obvious bias at play. It's disheartening and exhausting to watch students who work hard be overlooked, while others skate by simply because of who they are or who they're related to. Snobbery runs deep here -- among both students and staff. Instead of fostering humility and kindness, there's an unspoken hierarchy that rewards arrogance, status, and appearance. If you're a little different -- whether that's in how you think, what you wear, or what your background is -- you're treated like an outsider. There's little to no effort made to include or support students who don't conform. And let's be real -- for a school that prides itself on being Christian, the lack of genuine empathy and fairness is pretty shocking. You hear about grace and forgiveness in chapel, but that message often doesn't show up in how administration actually handles things. Decisions feel inconsistent, and it's hard to trust the system when you see double standards in action. And you also cannot forget the corrupt dean that works here. Talks badly about student after they leave to other students that our currently walking the campus. If you're a parent thinking of sending your child here, I strongly encourage you to not go here. Waste of a 17k a Year.
