They bus kids in from all over the place for the Magnet, but the wait list is long, so sign up early (like seriously at birth) to ensure your kid a spot. My daughter did Transitional kinder here with Mrs. Furr, and this year tested at 2nd grade level in reading and 1st grade level in math. Last year I would pick her up from Magnet and she would teach me all about bats, snakes, the water cycle, insects, you name it. It was wonderful to pick her up everyday and see the happiness on her face. The teachers and staff really love the kids and care about their education and development. I can't say enough good things about the school. It is a wonderful and safe place to educate your child and I recommend it highly.

I am extremely disappointed with the lack of professionalism from I believe is the secretary named…read moreLaura, also certain staff at this school whom are friends-coworkers have been gossiping with my child's mother and sharing private information that should never be discussed, overstepping their boundaries and removing me from receiving emails from the school especially when there is a court order in place granting me the right to be informed of my child's upcoming events and other information to keep me aware of what's going on. This kind of behavior shows no respect for confidentiality or parental rights. Schools should remain neutral and follow legal boundaries, not take sides or spread personal information. I strongly urge administration to address this immediately and ensure staff are properly trained on privacy and court compliance. I believe a child should present a Dr's note in every absence and not a call from home claiming illness when there's clearly none. If a court is requesting it follow the guidelines. Unfortunately it's going to take a parent to seek legal action and file a FERPA lawsuit maybe then this school will follow protocols.

We were lucky enough to have her twice since she moved from third to fourth. She would spend her lunch time tutoring my son when he needed just a little more help. She genuinely cares about her students and it shows. My son asked her to move to the fifth grade so he could have her again. I wish we would have been so lucky in the first and second grade. It wasn't the best experience. I feel my son did not mesh well with the teachers and they were very LONG years!
