Shylonda - welcomed me and my questions early in her tenure with ATC. You get a definite feeling of warmth and receptivity with Shylonda. She seems eager to help individual family member of the residents in her care. Vanessa - spent time with me explaining how the two outstanding bills will be posted. She was easy to talk with and made clear what I can expect. Weekend staff - Toni as well as the person designated to help Rick that day, and the Sunday wellness staff person were helpful, showing what truly seems a calling for this kind of work. When I left, another staff member (male) went over to talk with Rick, making it easier for me to leave. Dwana - We had a nice talk on Sunday about life in Evergreen in general. It was she who suggested that I notify Shylonda of some housekeeping needs for Rick. I don't know if she, and your other staff, have a real idea how important, how comforting such short talks can be to new family members. It truly matters. Toni - I spent most of my staff time with Toni on Sunday. She could tell I was distressed over the evangelical nature of the activity taking up the full common area (not the learning room closer to the patio), as well as the lack of anywhere else for Rick to be for the approximately 90 minutes they were there. I know she will be reaching out to Stephanie, and I am grateful to her for rescuing Rick and me. When I entered Evergreen in the midst of singing and preaching, Rick said, "You rescued me!" Toni understands that we are not Christian, and she took us out to the patio and encouraged Rick to sing some of our Unitarian Universalist hymns. As you know, memory and music are a pretty amazing pair. I deeply appreciate both the initiative she took, and what, I'm sure, will be her follow up with Stephanie. You and I and your staff will continue to communicate often as Rick continues to adjust to Memory Care. I wanted you to know, after some of the bumps that you've worked out for me, how grateful I am. The prep and paperwork went very smoothly and efficiently, so she could move in on about two weeks notice. Also, the staff worked closely with her doctor to make sure all the medical forms were completed in a timely manner. And in the brief time my mom has been there, I am overwhelmed with how wonderful and caring the staff is, and how communicative they are - having a very comprehensive orientation meeting where I get to meet all of the staff leadership, and several of the staff initiating calls and texts to let me know how things are going (I live 3000 miles away in California). It gives me incredible peace of mind knowing my mom is in good hands and actually enjoying her days at Arbor Terrace!

There was a high turnover rate of care givers and other staff. Costs increased almost 20% within a year. The memory care is on the third floor of this old run down building, and she hardly ever saw daylight. They'll lure you in with a big song and dance, and then they'll put them in wheelchairs and they just sit there forgotten. Promises of 'activities, field trips, walks, porch visits'. It was sad and depressing every visit, and the third floor smells like pee. My mom was spry and could walk fine when she got there, and when we finally left for good not even a year later, we had to wheel her out because she never walked around and lost abilities, she was unbathed for weeks, and with a UTI. It's quite a shame. No one there, including the employees, are truly happy.

She replied by simply saying she had cc'ed her office manager, who could answer my questions and schedule me for a session with Dr. Nassar. For anyone with intense daily anxiety, time is very important. We need help from the hell in our minds asap. Dr. Nassar seems to be another example of a, "pay me first and then I'll tell you if I can potentially help you" psychologist. With that mind set, those if us on the edge and needing help will just have to go through several first visits with several psychologist and tell our story and explain our symptoms several times and pay several hundreds of dollars in the meantime. And if you're like me, there are times you have laid in bed in the deepest of anxiety hells, contemplating pulling the trigger just to escape the intense fear in your head. The clock may be running out on people like you and me. We don't have time for psychologist that won't simply say, "yes, I've seen this before and I believe I can help. I'll have my office manager contact you." Hang in there. There are good psychologist out there. And we'll find them. I hope.

I have to say that recently the care received from them has not been good. I just had an annual physical conducted by Mary and felt the visit was rushed. Although there are signs posted everywhere that annual well visits should only be that with no mention of other things such as not feeling well, I did mention at the visit that I have not been feeling good for a long while. The conversation was brushed off and I allowed that to happen because I knew I would be getting a full blood panel completed. When the results were received I learned that the white blood cell count was very low and had been that way for an entire year! While this physician group is generally pretty good I feel they have failed me. I had been to that office many times during that one year span for various reasons and no one thought to check previous bloodwork or anything in my file to get to the bottom of why I was not feeling good. What is the point of doing physical exams each year if you cannot go in and discuss any concerns you may have and notice about your general health? It also concerns me that there are many older people who do not manage well with technology and yet they force a new app on all patients to get their results from tests. The quality of care just did not seem up to par on my last visit and they should do better. Mary should do better.
