I'm sick as a dog, Yelp. I have a nasty sinus infection and have been out of work for a few days…read morerecovering. If not for the good folks at Westport Family Medicine Center, I wouldn't be able to go back in tomorrow. I went to their patient-only walk-in clinic yesterday and was out an hour later with a diagnosis and three prescriptions that have been working wonderfully to bring me back up to full speed. Although the doctor I saw was not my PCP, he did a great job at making me feel comfortable and taken care of. I've been a patient of Dr. Jane Li since December and the level of service the doctors at this facility provides is above and beyond. I switched over from being a patient at the STARR Clinic near my home and the difference in service and quality is astounding. Their facility was recently renovated and everything is brand new and squeaky clean. If you're looking for a new PCP, I can't recommend switching over to Westport Family Medicine Center enough.

The reason they are not getting 4 stars: I went in there one day for something, and they had funny hours, something about lunch hour or other. This put a huge damper in my day, as a walk in should be open at least during normal work hours with no interruption. The waiting room has absolutely no warmth at all, but it's funny, beyond the doors of the waiting room, there were touches of niceness scattered around. The room I was in the first time overlooked a pond. Definitely would recommend for a townie.

So today my husband and I scheduled our appointments back to back. His was at 2pm, mine at 3pm. We were both here on time. My husband 15 min early, and I was 30 minutes early. Well it is currently 3:40 and I have yet to be seen by the doctor and my husband is still here waiting. I understand covid makes things a little slower, but this is unacceptable! I've thought about switching Drs for a while now but this has solidified my decision. Unacceptable to keep a patient waiting almost 45 minutes and my poor husband who has been sitting here since 2pm (it's currently 3:45). At least check-in within 15 minutes to let me know you're running really behind allowing me the option to leave!!

I called back and explained I just need to know of Blue Cross is accepted at walk-in. Again the girls says let me transfer you to billing. Will the receptionist say thank you for your blue cross card or will she say no ~ It's not hard She transferred me to walk-in and I was on hold forEVER I can't decide if their customer service just sucks or they really do not have a clue .... This place is hit or miss. If you get Dr. Chen, then you've hit the jackpot. He's a terrific…read moredoctor. He'll go the extra mile to make sure you are taken care of. He certainly did so with me. Called me at home to fill me in on test results, but I wasn't home. Before I had a chance to call him back, he called again, and on his day off! Every doctor should aspire to be like Dr. Chen. But if you end up seeing Petrillo-Bolanos, expect to be hustled out of the examination room as soon as she has performed a perfunctory examination. Don't expect any follow-through nor follow-up. Once you are out of her examination room, you are forgotten. And don't bother leaving a message for her, she won't return your call. Can't speak on Dr. Nace nor Dr. Fitzhugh, have never seen either. What you gotta watch out for with this place is their billing practices. Even if they have all your insurance info, and you have no co-pay due, don't be surprised if you get a bill anyway. They have pulled this with me and my wife more than once. My guess is that they send phony bills to elderly people, (we qualify), in hopes that they are intimidated, or just don't know any better. Hawthorn Medical is part of the Steward Health Care system, which was once owned by Cerberus Capital MGT., but is now owned by a consortium of doctors, who, hopefully, care as much about their patients as they do their wallets. Unfortunately, our beloved doctors adopted the business practices of Cerberus, whose motto was, "show me the money." If you remember your Greek Mythology, you will remember Cerberus - the three headed monster who guarded the gates of hell. Nice symbol for a health care facility. Finally, if you have an urgent need for urgent care, (not an emergency), and you go to the urgent care facility, only to find that your urgent need is subordinated to those who have made appointments ahead of you presumably because their urgent need could wait until the appointed time, then where, pray tell, is the urgent care?

The receptionist asks do you have an appointment , I say no and she says then step aside and scan the QR code . No hello how are you how can I help you . She is rude and acts as if you are a burden to her rather than being welcoming or nurturing . It's absolutely unacceptable . Now I wait an hour to go back . As I go back I tell the nurse what's going on how I'm feeling he was the only nice person I came in contact with the entire time I was there . Finally the doctor comes in and I tell her I have pneumonia a lot and that it hurts to breathe in and I feel like I have an ear infection. She checks my ears listens to my lungs and asks me to take deep breathes . I'm squinting in pain taking these breathes and she says your lungs sound great your ears look fine your fine . I said but I'm telling you I am not fine I'm telling you I am in pain . Well you can go to the hospital to get X-rays . She was so cold and rude and demeaning. I asked her for a note for that day and the next day and she told me I would be all better tomorrow . She didn't do a Covid test or a flu test and she didn't try to help me at all . She knew me better than I knew me . Now I wake up unable to swallow or breathe and I'm headed to another urgent care . This place is a disgrace . Absolutely inappropriate and unacceptable I hope this place get shut down . No one should ever have to experience treatment or lac there of when walking into get help .
