The NP at the MinuteClinic told me my kid didn't need a flu test, but after my insistence (I am a physician myself and was sure he had the flu), the NP finally gave in. The flu test was indeed positive for the influenza B strain and it was early enough in my son's course for him to benefit from Tamiflu. They took my insurance and had me pay my copay. Everything seemed okay, right? 3 weeks later I get a bill of $170 despite my insurance, including an incorrect double charge for the rapid flu test. I figure, not a problem, I will call billing and get this straightened out. Here is where MinuteClinic needs to be investigated by the media and legislators, because it is impossible to reach a human being on their only customer service line at 1-866-389-2727. I waited 2 hours, only to be hung up. The next day, I call again, and immediately the transfer to billing goes straight to voicemail (!). I leave a message and was never called back. I try again the next week and the same thing happens. I can't for the life of me reach a human being despite asking for billing, customer service, supervisor, etc etc. Worst still is two months later, I get a third-party collections notice for this bill. It too has the same number for me to call to resolve the bill 1-866-389-2727. I still can't reach a human being to this day. I can only gather that this is done intentionally so that when patients receive a collections bill and cannot reach any human to resolve legitimate issues with the bill, we then are forced to pay the bill in full so as not to hurt our credit scores. Even trying to pay the bill took 1 hour of waiting on the phone. This is a disgrace and should be illegal. Never again will I go to or recommend any of my patients to go to MinuteClinic for the convenience. You will pay for it later in the sheer frustration of being unable to resolve a legitimate billing issue with a real human being and taken to collections anyway.

I had scripts that my Dr. in Fl couldn't fill due to state requirements (do the math on that one) and I was made to feel very easy. I am beyond impressed with Dr. Martin and the entire office. Instead, you get a voice recording saying wait times are longer than expected due to staffing issues. My elderly parents went in today during operating hours and the door was locked. The admin inside would not open the door to explain they were closing early or check to make sure they weren't having a medical emergency. If my parents knew the office closed well before the posted hours, they would have arrived earlier or chosen another location. Hard pass. If you close early, you need to make this clear on your website, on your answering service and on your signage. Don't make sick people drive home without treatment during your hours of operation.

I have never been a fan of the corporate "Concentra care" but having frequented this location since…read moreI was a little kid, old habits tend to die hard. Over the years, this urgent care location has fallen under various owners and is currently owned by Concentra. The building itself is nice and located right off of the main road (and alongside Rite Aid pharmacy). As for the inside, it is pretty bare bones, all the signs have been changed to the Concentra blue and orange colors but everything else has remained the same. This location is not the best to visit if you need to see a doctor or nurse in a timely fashion, as each time I have visited the wait for anything other than blood work has been at least an hour. There is usually only one medical assistant on duty at the front desk and I'm sure this attributes to the wait time. As far as Urgent Cares go, I'd say this location is pretty standard. The doctors are knowledgeable and as helpful as they can be, but they do seem a bit overworked and understaffed. The shining lights of this Concentra are the Primary care doctor, Diane Dubois-Hall and her medical assistant Ann. I feel truly blessed to have met Dr. Hall as she is a rare gem. I love her down to earth approach to things and she never makes you feel bad about anything, if there is a problem she is ready with different ways to handle the situation. She will always give her honest opinion and genuinely cares about her patients, this is not just a job to her but clearly something she was born to do. The medical assistant Ann manages things at the front desk like a pro and if I call for anything she always goes above and beyond to help. I visit once a month on my lunch break to get a B-12 shot; she opens the office during lunch hours for me when she notices my car pull into the parking lot! I see this personalized care as going above and beyond, a true rarity with medical offices these days. Dr. Hall and Ann will be leaving for their own practice independent of Concentra in about two months. I certainly cannot blame them for wanting to leave the corporate medicine bubble, and fully intend on following them to their new practice. Concentra itself gets two stars; but Dr. Hall and her new practice will certainly be receiving 5 stars from me, upon it's opening.
