DO NOT GO TO THIS MINUTE CLINIC!!! All I needed was a simple throat culture and even though the website said they can do same day appointments, I waited for four hours and still could not be seen. The doctors when walking past wouldn't even make eye contact with me and gave me unreasonable excuses for why it was taking me so long. When I finally asked one of the doctors where my name was in the line, she told me that I wasn't even ON THE LIST because I didn't have an "appointment" meanwhile people who were checking in on the screen just like I did were being seen before me, and then she made me feel like them being backed up was my fault. I am absolutely beside myself, never going to this MinuteClinic again. read more

Sorry for the length. This pharmacy will never win any awards for reliability or customer service; the employees are sullen and act overworked. But most days, I am able to accomplish what I'm trying to do. Today, however, was not one of those days. I made an appointment for a booster on the CVS website with their Minute Clinic (MC), arrived early, and received a text that instructed me to check in at the MC kiosk with the code in the text. I did so, and sat and waited. After a few minutes, an employee from the MC approached me and asked what I was doing there. I said I was there for a booster. The gentleman condescendingly implied that I didn't read the text correctly and that I was supposed to check in at the pharmacy. The text VERY CLEARLY said to check in at the MC kiosk. But, as instructed, I walked over the pharmacy and waited for about 10 minutes, then was asked what I needed. I said a booster, and that I had tried to check in at the MC kiosk but was told that was wrong and that I needed to check in at the pharmacy. The pharmacy employee rolled her eyes, said no, you need to check in at the MC kiosk. I said I did, but they sent me to her. She shrugged and walked away from me. So I went back to the MC, and told my story to another MC employee. She said no, I needed to go back to the pharmacy. I said they really don't want me there and they sent me to her. She then walked me over to the pharmacy and told the pharmacy employee that I needed a booster. That employee said I will have to make an appointment on the CVS website. I said, "That's what I did!" They said, no, you made an appointment at the Minute Clinic, we don't take walk-ins, and you need to make an appointment online for the pharmacy. My appointment was for 0930. It was now 1000. I left the store without getting my booster. FAIL read more

I wish I could provide a positive review here, because the people at the clinic were actually quite nice. I just cannot do that in this case, however. Here is my summary from below, up front: the people I dealt with in the clinic, face to face, were very nice. That said, they inadvertently injected me with COVID, told me they wouldn't charge me for a PPD as a result, charged me for the PPD, sent me to collections for $21, reduced my credit score by 100 points, and then the billing department acted like there was nothing wrong with that and it was my fault. None of that is ok. My issues with Minute Clinic of Alexandria (E. Monroe Avenue) were: (a) medical malpractice; (b) slightly dishonest/bad billing practices and quick referral to collections, and (d) the fact that if the billing department had just been cool, nothing else would be an issue. Medical Malpractice: I came in for a PPD shot and they accidentally shot a COVID booster into my arm. They are EXTREMELY lucky I'm not a vehement anti-vaccination person, or I sure would have sued them. I'm not sure I need to explain more. You just can't arbitrarily give someone a COVID vaccine they did not ask for. That is a fact in American society today. It was a mistake, they did not mean to do it, they apologized, I didn't mind, it made my life a bit uncomfortable for about a week (due to being applied intra-dermal), and then it was fine. The problem came when... Bad billing practices: The folks at the clinic told me that they were very sorry about giving me the inadvertent COVID vaccine, which I recognized as a mistake, no big deal. They did proceed to give me the PPD shot. They also told me there would be no charge for the PPD shot/reading since they had just given me an unwanted COVID vaccine by mistake and without authorization from me. Again, no big deal but I did think it was appropriate that they not charge me for the visit. They then charged me for the PPD visit, but sent me the bill in the mail. I was out of town for several months. The bill was $21. This is petty. You gave me a COVID vaccine (I have very, very bad reactions to COVID--both the vaccine and the disease itself) that I didn't ask for and didn't need (already had a booster) and then you're going to charge me $21? That is just petty. To be clear, I don't care about the $21. I care that I didn't notice it as I was out of country and they sent it to collections quickly and my credit dropped 100 or more points (may even have been 200...it DROPPED). I never got a call or an email. This seems like the minimum they could have done--given the medical malpractice issue--before they dropped my credit score 100 points for $21 that neither I nor they care about. Just a call or an email would have sorted this out. Billing Department: Lastly, I was very polite in calling the billing department to explain the situation to them. I asked to speak to supervisors and gave them every opportunity to do something to make it right. If they had done anything whatsoever, I would not have made this review/complaint. They seemed extremely disinterested in the entire ordeal, however, they did nothing to help me, and for that other must know to avoid this place like the plague. Final note: Again, the people I dealt with in the clinic, face to face, were very nice. MinuteClinic at CVS - Urgent Care Near Me - ALEXANDRIA, Virginia

Not trustworthy. They ran a quick test for strep and when the results came back negative, the NP said they would send the test to the lab and call me either way the following day. That call never came. MinuteClinic therefore cannot be trusted. You do not mess with peoples health. Period. I need these lab results to know what medicine to take. And you cannot call the location as they don;t have a local phone number. Go to a place that actually cares about their patients and their health. read more

After doing lots of research and finally deciding on place , I chose this CVS minute clinic to get my stitches removed. They don't accept my insurance but still seemed to have the most reasonable prices in the area. I arrived about 20 minutes after they opened with two people in front of me which wasn't bad. I waited about 40 minutes. I was nervous with it being my first time being a patient at a minute clinic but the nurse (Joyce) was very very nice!!! She was very caring and very gentle. Had my stitches removed in less than 5 minutes!! The paperwork took the most time LOL I would definitely recommend this minute clinic to people with minor issues. MUCH MUCH better and affordable than a trip to the ER. You can also hold your spot in line if you are concerned about wait times and they will send a text about 30 minutes before its your turn to be seen. Regardless of where you receive medical attention you are likely to experience some wait time, so you should make sure you have more than enough time. All in all, my experience was GREAT && I will definitely return in the future if needed. read more

This place would have been no stars except the Nurse Practitioner there was lovely and I felt like she did care about my well being. She gets 5 stars. This clinic needs 2 practitioners. I call it the 137MinuteClinic. That's hours folks, not minutes. They also seemed to bee poorly equipped. The computers were down so I was not able to take a copy of my prescription with me, and the prescription didn't make it to my pharmacy either. So then I had to wait an additional 3 hours to feel better while they all sorted out what was what. Again, the only thing redeeming this place is the NP. If you have an option to go to another - I recommend you do. read more

I like my primary care doctor, I really do. But it is a HUGE pain in the butt to get an appointment. And when I felt an ear infection coming on, I dreaded going to their office only to find out an OTC decongestant would solve the problem. So I opted to go to the Minute Clinic. I was rather impressed! The doctor didn't have the best bed side manner, but she was there to treat, not laugh at my jokes. I walked right in, she took my medical history and diagnosed a simple earache. 20 minutes later I was at the pharmacy counter picking up my antibiotic. Sadly, they didn't take my insurance, but that $60 was WELL worth the low stress walk in appointment. My FSA covered it, but it is something to consider next time. read more

Just back from Minute Clinic. Very cool stuff. It's a little tiny room in the back of the CVS. You fill out your info on a touch screen computer and wait your turn. I had no wait, which was nice. You should absolutely check out the website for what they treat. I went in with flu like symptoms - I wouldn't normally, but I have to travel tomorrow. The nurse practitioner there was very helpful and offered some good advice. She also cleared me of anything more serious that would require antibiotics, etc. This was SO much better than the doc's office or the urgent care clinic in Arlington. read more

This is a good experience if you get there before the minute clinic opens...if not you're screwed. Signing in immediately upon arrival at cvs is critcal. I had to come here twice within 24 hours to be seen once. First time I went was at 5 pm on a Wednesday night...needless to say there were so many people in line that I would not have made it to the closing at 8pm...glad i left work early for nothing. Thursday I was still sick _ potential Strep... I was smart and I arrived 15 minutes before the clinic opened and was the first one signed in and there fore the first person seen. Walked in and NP was ok...a little abrasive...like a mother who doesn't believe you're sick. She gave me a strep test, which was negative, and a prescript for a throat numbing rinse which was nice...except the cvs didn't have any...so after I waited another 45 minutes at the pharmacy...i had to take a cab to ANOTHER cvs. Because I don't have a car....loved this. Pharmacy girls were very rude to me. All in all..it cost me a lot of TIME to do this....but it only cost with insurance $25 bucks. Fine for emergency when you don't want to go to the ER...but I'll be getting my own general doctor going forward. read more

When you make an appointment online and still wait an hour!! Absolutely absurd! this is the 2nd visit for me at this location just to get a vaccination. Last time the nurse was very apologetic and said it was only one person here today. Today still only one person here. CVS needs to adjust the time per patient it is way off. I was on day 3 of a fun fever/sore throat/head cold combo when I finally decided it was time to get it checked out. I didn't think it warranted making an appointment and sitting in a waiting room forever at my general physician's office, but still wanted to make sure I didn't have something that required antibiotics. The CVS Minute Clinic on Monroe Street was fantastic - friendly, quick, easy, and affordable. I was seen by a nurse to do my intake evaluation and a nurse practitioner for my actual exam/diagnosis. The NP did tests onsite to confirm I did not have strep throat or the flu (both done within 15 minutes!) and asked lots of questions to make sure I didn't have something more serious. This place is perfect if you need to see someone for an everyday illness. I didn't need to make an appointment. My wait time was less than 5 minutes (shorter than it took to sign into their computer system!) and they accepted my insurance (and for those who don't have insurance - the prices are clearly listed). This is my new go-to place for when I have the sniffles. read more

I went to the Minute Clinic on a Sunday in September. I had a killer cold with an awful sore throat and an ear infection, too. I just couldn't wait to see my PCP since I needed a doctor's note to get out of work that evening (as a waitress...nobody likes a snot-nosed, hacking server!) I arrived about 20 minutes after the clinic opened and was #8 in line, according to the automated sign-in/waitlist. The annoying part of this experience was the wait. Each person ahead of me spent about 20 minutes with the Nurse Practitioner, so I waited over two hours to be seen. I was not amused, especially given how sick I was, but I was desperate. Once I finally got in to see the NP, the situation improved dramatically. She took a very detailed medical history on the computer and was very thorough with her questions. The diagnosis (cold+ear infection) was certainly not a surprise, but she was able to rule out strep with a Rapid Strep Test, which I appreciated. I was impressed that she kept her cool even though there were, like, 15 antsy people waiting outside the door. Since my insurance didn't cover the visit, it cost me $60+ an additional $18 or so (for the Strep test). With my prescriptions, I was out the door for about 100 bucks. Even though it took 3 hours and cost much more than a visit to my PCP, I would go again in a pinch. The NP was thorough, professional and under her care I was better by the end of the week. **Bonus points because the automated computer system prompted the NP to warn me that antibiotics render the birth control pill ineffective for awhile. While I've known this for years, MANY doctors don't bother taking 2 seconds to say it. read more

Went to the CVS Minute Clinic in Pentagon City, on a Friday afternoon around 7pm. There was no wait. The nurse working was pleasant to deal with and seemed to know her job. This is a great concept. It was the right approach for a very minor issue - something needing a nurse but for which I could not justify inconveniencing myself with missing hours of work to go to my primary care physician (if they even could fit me in). The walk in approach, with good hours, on the Metro, is a winning combination. Best of all, it was in network for my Aetna plan. I would never completely replace going to a MD for something serious, but this is a good way to get access to very basic medical care. Good move by CVS to pioneer this concept. read more

I developed an allergic reaction on my legs from a cream from a Utah restaurant shop I shouldn't have used. It resulted in a rash on a third of the surface of my legs and was very itchy. I was traveling and didn't have access to my PCP. I have to say that the hours are great and I got there right when they opened. No waiting at all, except for them to open! Ok, I did let a couple in ahead of me when they entered with a clearly sick child. So I did wait for about 15 minutes. All I received from this Minute Clinic was a prescription for over-the-counter ineffective medications (Benadryl and Cortizone-10, and had to pay $79 for the privilege because I was out of network. The nurse practitioner simply entered my symptoms on a computer and read the screen to me as to what I needed. Nowhere did she take into account that a third of the surface of my legs were covered in the rash. Itching escalated even after using the OTC stuff I got from them. When I returned home, I visited my PCP and got MUCH stronger prescriptions (an oral antihistimine plus a cream and oral steroids (the latter is prednizone). My own nurse practitioner was much more aggressive for my $25 copay. The itching nightmare ended after 2 days when the three "real" medications took over. If you have a common condition, being computer-evaluated might be fine. But things out of the ordinary might best be handled by a better diagnostician. You might not need Gregory House, MD, but it would be good to have someone who doesn't get all the diagnosis from a computer. read more

Went in yesterday for what I thought was (another) raging sinus infection. It was Day 2 of Hurricane Sandy, and my doctor's office was closed. However, I had been sleepless and hopelessly congested for four days, so was desperate for relief. Clinic opened on time at 9AM. I signed in at 9:30, and I was #8. The NP who was working informed those who were waiting that it would be 15 minutes per person, so that people could go and do something else and come back. Most people stayed--I paced around the store because I couldn't breathe--and were polite and quiet despite the long wait. I waited an hour and 40 minutes to be seen, slightly longer than the 90 minutes I'd expected, but was pleasantly surprised once inside the examining room. It is quite an efficient operation. The one in charge was a NP named Bob. There was also a student NP who examined me initially. The supervising NP reexamined me after evaluating the student NP's assessment, took a thorough medical history, input all data while he was talking to me, explained what was going on with me in great detail, and ultimately prescribed a steroid nasal spray rather than another antibiotic. I should mention that this was my second sinus infection in four weeks and I had finished a ten-day course of amoxicillin only 2 weeks prior to developing symptoms again. It was his belief that my misery was due to an exacerbated allergic reaction (leaf mold has been a major issue this autumn), and that the main problem was that my sinuses were largely swollen shut, thus allowing the backup of fluids and resulting bacterial growth. Reduce inflammation and open the sinuses, and things will drain without antibiotics. He said it would take two to three days for me to start feeling better. He was efficient, but compassionate and caring. 24 hours later, I can say that he must have known his stuff, because I feel MUCH better than I did yesterday. Still not at at 100%, but just two doses of the spray cleared things out enough to allow me to sleep last night, and I've continued to feel better today. My teeth and cheeks are hurting much less as well. As a result, I was able to go to work today, which would have been impossible yesterday. The only thing keeping me from giving them a five-star review is the lengthy wait. An appointment system of some sort might be useful. read more

One one hand, I was a bit annoyed. Because my fever was 103 degrees, they would not treat me and referred me to an urgent care center. I had a routine flu, but their liability rules are strict. However, Ms. Moon, the nurse on duty, was really great and totally made up for the runaround. She made calls to all the area urgent care centers and made sure they accepted my insurance. In addition, she printed off directions for me, and even though she wasn't able to treat me, she genuinely cared about me as a person and did everything in her power to see that I got the right treatment. Plus I had no wait whatsoever, but I understand that is an anomaly. Overall I was very pleased! read more

Thought I'd write a review since most of the reviews were years old and have gone to the Minute Clinic often for sick visits as my primary MD is 30 minutes away. First, cool concept! You sign in at a kiosk takes less than 5 mins and then wait for the NP call you in. (Weekends and afternoons are busier).No need to see a front desk person, then another person to do your temperature, BP etc. and then finally sit in a room waiting for your MD. Straight to the NP and she does everything for you (checks you in, takes down your history, medications, and a few other questions) then you start your visit. The NP does your assessment and diagnosis right then and there and if you need a prescription done! Amazing! Second, fast but understandable very busy because it is a WALK IN clinic. I think people need to have the right expectations when going here. So be ready with your insurance card/ payment, ID and list of medications you've been taking. Plus, now if you sign in they have a part where it can text you so you don't have to sit and wait, this is great with kids and weekends! Third, the NP took so much time to explain to me her assessment and what I had. She explained everything, even called to check on me the next day. Major props!! My usual doctor is great but takes forever to get an appointment and even then only about 5-10minutes with me- always leave feeling disappointed. Go give it a try if you are sick, your kid needs a school physical/ camps and vaccines before going traveling or pregnant. Obviously, the clinic is limited because they can't treat everything they will try their hardest and guide you to other resources if they can't help/ treat you. read more

By far the worst MinuteClinic I've ever been to. Their online registration was broken, checked in and was told it would be a 40-minute wait. I waited over 2 hours to be seen. Poorest managed facility around. Do better....especially with unwell patients. read more

I lucked out with arriving close to closing time on a Saturday, and was therefore seen within about 10 minutes. The RN who gave me my vaccine and the NP who checked me out were incredibly nice, thorough, and got me out of there pretty quickly. It was a great experience! read more

Spend the extra time and money and go to urgent care or your primary care dr. The nurse practitioner was at lunch when I arrived, 30 minutes after the website said she would be back from lunch. I was lucky and was the first patient on the waiting list, but there were several following me. The NP seemed more concerned with getting through the waiting list than with my ailments. She tried to talk me out of the visit-if I didn't need to be there, I wouldn't. Didn't do a strep test and told me to keep taking motrin. A week later, symptoms had gotten worse and I went to my Primary Care Dr. who did a strep test and antibiotics. Feeling so much better-sadly I could have avoided a week of misery if my symptoms had been assessed correctly. read more

ALWAYS register online before going to this clinic! It's best to check other locations in the area to determine who has the shortest wait time. The wait was suppose to be an hour and a half and I ended up waiting OVER 3 hours! My zero minute wait was really an hour. I think I would be better paying more and making an appointment with my PCP. read more

Went to get a prescription renewed, they don't do that. Go to urgent care on rt. 1, don't waste your time here.

I arrived on Friday a little before 7pm the sign was already up that clinic was closed. Clinic closes at 8. I was greeted by the physician who promptly shooed me away stating that she had two people before me (they were together) and an appointment coming in at 745. Technically then I could have been the middle appointment?? This is a walk in clinic, not appointment based clinic. How is it that this person was permitted to pick a time to come in yet I was refused (and present to wait in cue), I would have happily wait to see how long those two people took and then if 8pm rolled around respected that clinic closed. The physician complained to me that she had not gotten a break since 3pm and refused to see me. These are your hours and this is your job. Don't complain to your clients. The Nurse Practitioner (Mary) at the Monroe street Minute Clinic is hostile and provided inadequate care to my son. As soon as I started to convey my son's symptoms she cut me off mid-sentence and without examing him she told me he had not been sick long enough to be prescribed an antibiotic. She never took his temperature, looked in his eyes, ears etc.. When I tried to speak she cut me off again and said "if you are not satisfied then go to your primary care doctor." In less than three minutes we were sent out the door. I was baffled. Before we got to our car we saw her come out of the building and head to her own car. She did not communicate that it was the end of her shift but it was clear that she was only interested in getting off from work. I'm giving them one-star solely for the wait time. They are called a minute clinic but I waited for over an hour and half to be seen. Ridiculous. I had a sinus infection and just need antibiotics but the way all if were being treated you would have thought we had Ebola . Don't go here unless you're desperate. read more

Quick, efficient, competent service and extremely reasonable fees, even if you don't have insurance. The nurse practitioners and PAs can handle only a limited range of problems, but for basic colds, flus, and infections, this was perfectly fine and a much better option than having to go to an overcrowded, expensive urgent care. The antibiotic I received at Urgent Care, for a $300 bill, made me sick and was not even one that is at all effective for sinus infections. Next time, I think I'll just go straight to CVS. I would guess that individual mileage might vary depending on who was on staff that day, though. read more
