I'm not too sure where the short pudgy bearded dude that walks around the lot at Mint Auto sales gets his vehicle valuations from, but he's waaaaaaaaay off! When asked for the price of a Ford Escape he stated, "$15,000!" I told him that I just looked at Lincolns down the street for that same year and price, and this is a Ford Escape! He then said he spends a 1/2 hour researching all the vehicles before he puts them up for sale. I'm not sure what world he lives in, but, either this guy believes that EVERYONE goes out there and pays $1000 over stated KBB/NADA retail prices without looking up values, or this place is a front for something else - cause 'ain't' no sane person buying from this joint at those prices - PERIOD! read more

My husband and I were going crazy looking for a small pickup truck. We had stopped by a few smaller places in hopes of having a decent choice of stock and avoid the salesman BS you get with most larger dealerships-no luck. One place, told us if we didn't put down at least 7k on the 14.9k Tacoma he had, the payments would be over 350 a month. We were so discouraged and I was about to just give up. On our way home the Husband said lets just stop by this Mint place that I pass it every day and I keep seeing this gorgeous frontier they have. (so i am like eyes rolling back please shoot me) But...we did. To be honest, I just had a good feeling about the place from the start. (a rarity in a dealership) Their entire stock was small, but looked so well kept and clean as was their office. It was impressive in the midst of this pollen tsunami we are having that they kept the cars so shiny and nice and it told me they car about the place. We them met Steve, who was warm and calm and not even the least pushy- he was pleasant actually. We saw the frontier and left our number. No pushing involved at all. We were just looking. Later when we got home, I was thinking about the place. I decided to give steve a call and explain our situation and needs and tell him that we had been told over and over we need more than 2k down or we wouldn't be able to keep the payment down. Steve told me not to worry, let him work it out- We went in the following Tuesday and within an hour we had a beautiful, well maintained Nissan frontier with low miles, clean carfax and a ridiculously low monthly payment. Steve had gone through a local credit union and gotten me a very affordable loan. It was literally 1,2,3 done. They had it gassed and clean and explained every step of everything. To be honest, I have no idea how I have not heard more about this place they were just awesome. Really- They even tried to throw in an accessory they had on hand that didn't end up fitting, but it was the thought. I was given a much needed cup of Starbucks --when they ordered theirs, they included coffee for us too. Nice guys--this was actually a fun experience if thats even possible when car shopping. And if you saw what our second vehicle looks like...You'd say wow... we got a great deal at the end of the day and we are thrilled. read more

Trying to find a decent used pickup on Long Island is harder than trying to find an affordable home here. After about a million miles, I had to say goodbye to my beloved Saturn and was looking around for a used small-size pickup that hadn't been beaten into the ground, or was $30K. Anyone who knows about trucks also knows that you either drive it until it's a bucket of rust, or only sell it once something MAJOR goes wrong with it - turning the task of finding a decent used one into a Quixotic endeavor. Luckily, I happened to be driving past Mint on my way back from Toyota in Bay Shore (I really had my heart set on one of the early Tacos, but they're all being used to either smuggle opium in Afghanistan, or stripped down to jump rocks on trails in PA) and spotted a little F-150 perched on the corner. So I did an about-face and wandered on in... Mint is a SMALL used-car sales lot, staffed by what seems like a father/son team. They were helpful with showing me around the truck, and brought out a flashlight to help me poke around underneath the hood (it was about 7 o'clock in November). This 2003 F-150 was EXACTLY what I was looking for: 4WD, step-sides at the head of the bed, hard-locking-top over the bed, and get this - just under 90K miles! This truck really met the definition of "mint" and I was dreading finding out its history when I CarFaxed it later on... Well, what'dya know, CLEAN CarFax! I have no idea why the previous owner had to sell this truck, it's beautiful. About 10 months later here, and it still runs like a dream (though I don't drive like a crazy person, and I keep up on the maintenance) - it was REALLY fun being one of the only people on the road the day following the Nemo blizzard, and I finally was able to help pull other drivers out of the inevitable snow-traps with my tow-chains. Sure, it sucks down gas faster than a drunk on a bender, but if fuel prices keep on going the way they have always been, this might be the last time in my life I can realistically own a truck - and I love every minute of it. Thanks, Mint! They were super helpful with handling all of the registration/title/etc issues and if you call and they don't answer, leave a message. Like I said, this isn't a place with 20 people working in it, so the odds are that someone is outside helping another customer. They always called me back promptly. read more

I purchased a GMC Sierra from Steve the salesman last year April 2021 fast forward to this year I was looking to trade in the vehicle little did I know it was hit it had undercarriage damage that Steve never told me he lied to me and told me the vehicle was never hit mind me he lowballed me for my wife's Mercedes on a trade-in I go back to him about the situation and he tells me he wants to put the truck up on a lift to see if it's damaged mind me I purchased the vehicle damaged and now he wants to put it up on a lift so he will put it up on a lift and say there's nothing a matter with it The damage was done it has a bad Carfax it cost me thousands of dollars due to the damage on the Carfax report that he claims he would be able to take off the resolution I gave him was to give me back prorate my warranty that cost me $2,000 That's the least he could do he said no to that resolution stay away from this dealer read more

Just to add to my October post...since then this incredibly safe car that anthony would trust his daughter to drive left my daughter stranded...dead battery apparently? Mechanic came to save the day and when he replaced it he said he has never seen such an old battery. No wonder how the car even ran. This review is for an experience I had years ago with Mint Auto. I purchased a Ford Tempo at a fair price. I remember that customer service was not pushy and I dealt directly with the owner. I think when it comes to used car sales, when you need service is when a used auto lot's true colors come out. I was visiting family in New Jersey when my car broke down shortly after purchase. I didn't know what to do. I towed my car to a nearby mechanic's shop. Mint authorized the fuel pump repair and promised to reimburse me which they did when I got back to Long Island. They gave me a great price for my trade and got me a great interest rate when nobody else could. My credit has been bad since my second divorce and every other dealership treated me horribly and refused to help me. Bought a 2005 Santa Fe the end of July 2013. I asked them to make sure that it wasn't a Sandy car. I was told " No, by law we would have to tell you!" 3 1/2 months later took the car in for 4 new tires. No big deal right. WRONG there was so much rust after they removed the tires that the guy asked me to come back and take a look. I asked him if it was from Sandy another mechanic came over and said that the way it rusted and the water line made him sure it was. The car was fixed at a cost of 900 dollars. All parts were given to me to show the damage. I called Mint and inform them of the problem. I was told my car was still considered new being I had it such a short time. He said he would look into and get back to me. Of course I haven't heard back from them. I did hear the guy repeatably say that the place was under new ownership. read more
