I later learned that it's a Shell gas station IGA grocery store hybrid. It looks very unassuming from the outside, but it's almost bordering on a gourmet grocery (or gourmet for the area). I visited mostly for the restrooms, which they don't have many of (only two stalls), but it's fine. Walking around, they have aisles of groceries -- almost everything you could need. They also have a frozen section, a "beer cave," lots of snacks for the road, coffee and other stuff. There's also a chicken restaurant inside, with lots of tables to sit and eat there. The store was clean and very organized, and it was a pleasant experience to visit.

Upon entering two employees, one at register and the other on the sales floor, greeted me. I found all the shelves well stocked and the refrigerated drink stations filled. I'm walking around the store it's like a mini-grocery store minus meats. More than a 7-11 carries! Prices, to me, we're decent. Store was clean, well lit, and almost every employee I met greeted me with a Hello and a smile.

I stayed at the Gaylord opry resort so the walk here ( Is a bit (if you don't have a car, the walk is ~0.6miles one way). At least you get kind of a workout in for the day, 30min walk one way depending on your pace and traffic. They have bathrooms too which is often used by passerby travelers filling up on gas. Bring a scent deodorizer to be safe lol. Bathrooms are next to the lottery counter desk.

I've only ever got the cheeseburger from the meat-n-three in the back, and I remember it being pretty good. The menu back there changes regularly and there isn't any seating on the premises. Up front they have homemade sandwiches (the turkey is pretty good) and desserts (I'm a fan of the cookies). As for the convenient store part, you've got all the regular stuff, Coke and Pepsi products, Sweat tea, fountain drinks, chips (baked, regular and sun). They ask that you not pay with credit card for purchases under $10 though, which I totally understand.

The variety of items on the shelves is actually pretty funny and some of them look like they have been there for 40+ years. The couple that runs the place keeps a notebook with all transactions hand written in it. You can get homemade deli sandwiches on the super soft white bread that sticks to the roof of your mouth when you take a bite. Nothing fancy but it's nice to get lunch for 2 for less than $10 anywhere these days. They serve breakfast as well but I haven't made it in to try that yet. They also sell fuel but you can't pay at the pump. I would find that annoying some places but it just makes sense here. Unfortunately, there aren't a lot of places left like Shelton's.

My boyfriend was not too thrilled at the idea. My order was ready in less than an hour. Walked over to the store and stopped at the photo Dept. Gave them my name. The lady gave me my order and she was friendly too. I was in the store for maybe 2 minutes. I wish my local Walgreens store was well run like this location.

I've been here numerous times and experienced really rude and unprofessional service (e.g. I've personally been and seen others be judged and berated at the photo counter when picking up items "late" i.e. within a week or less of placing the order). Sometimes customer service has been nice or fine, though (e.g. one time the photo department called me when they found my photo order, which I appreciated - since when I went to pick it up the first time, they didn't find it). I return here for the location only, but I wish for a more consistently cordial (if not friendly) and efficient experience.
