They ring that giant bell periodically and have live music. Still, make no mistake, it's a restaurant for tourists. We sat for lunch and no reservations were required. The beer was good as was the food. You're saving about 5 Euro at Watzke per person by crossing the river for revert same experience you would have had adjacent to the replica buildings in old town. Bring a light jacket because it gets chilly down in the cellars. At the end you get to taste the fresh beer right from the aging barrel. This is unfiltered and unpasteurized beer and it tastes phenomenally good!

A great little pub/restaurant in Dresden's Neustadt. Another review I read referred to it…read more(positively) as a holdover from the East German days, which I'd disagree with- it's modern enough, although the prices/attitude are both enjoyably low. I had the bierbraten and a couple of their house brews- all good! I sauntered in around 6pm and didn't have trouble getting a seat, although it started getting more crowded around 7-8pm. Luckily it looked like table sharing was a common occurrence.

Strahov Monastery Brewery Was hoping to tour the monestry…read morebut that didn't happen. Arrived here in the late afternoon and hardly anyone around. There was a restaurant to the right and also brewery to the right. We made the left turn and noticed two huge copper kettle welcoming. The lady told us to sit at the two seater desk right next to a person coughing real bad and that really made us comfortable. Ordered DIPA. Soup and salad. Pilsner arrived first by mistake which I didn't touch. Turned out to be for the guy coughing real bad. Soon, mine arrived. It was one of the best tasting DIPA. I had to compliment the bartender. Apparently, this one is brewed here also. Very nice ambience especially with two copper kettles at the front. Monks stopped brewing beers for awhile. No ales.
