The trails are nice medium length distances for our kiddos. We walked alongside the American River, skipped rocks and stopped for a quick snack (we brought). We felt like Dude Perfect! When we got tired, there were so many options to recharge: giant chess or cornhole, watching the wakeboarders, or just sunning on the turf beside our cabana. I noticed a lot of the negative reviews are about the water quality. This is not a pool, so the water is not clear; it has vegetation; and stocked fish control for mosquitoes. Since we already read about this online, we were neither surprised nor grossed out. It was a fun day outdoors! The office staff were super warm, hospitable, and accommodating. Even as we added to our food order last minute (because I saw how active the kids were being... they were ravenous!), they flexed with our request. The pizza was hot; the fruit was refreshing. We felt so well cared for! Safety-wise, I'm glad we brought older kids, mostly very strong swimmers, and vigilant parents. The course is large, and there are spots that are invisible from the lifeguards' posts. We had to initiate with the lifeguards a few times because they weren't giving us any information/direction. (eg: Can we start? Where do we start? Any rules we need to know? Are you still on break, or can we go in again?) They did not seem to have a system for the lifejackets. They were sleepy and eager to clock out. This is the first open weekend of the season; I trust they will establish consistent group protocols as the summer goes on. I really don't think it is a safe level of algae for children since they are definitely going to get the water in their mouths. If they cleaned up the algae it would be a fun place but as it stands I don't feel the amount of algae in the water is safe for kids, The restaurant also only had one employee, who was the bartender, waitress, cashier and everything else, so as you can imagine it was very slow.

The teachers here are amazing! My middle schooler even had a teacher from his old public school, which was super helpful since he planed to go back to public high school later. This kept him on track (and even ahead) with what he needed to know. Something that I love is that the kids are outside ALL THE TIME! They have class outside, eat lunch outside, and do pretty much everything outside unless the weather is really bad. In summer, they sit under shady trees with nice breezes. In winter, they bundle up with jackets and blankets near space heaters. It reminds me of how European kids spend way more time outdoors instead of being stuck inside all day. My kids have learned tons and made great friends here. If you've read the book "Wild and Free," this school follows that idea perfectly. Kids learn, play, and grow at their own speed. Even if your kids go to regular school, Wild Roots has awesome summer camps that cost less than a babysitter! The kids learn cool stuff while having fun outside. My child attends the Early Engineer class during their school's after school time and she really…read morelikes it. This is her 3rd year taking the class and it is the only class she actually wants to participate in after school even though there are many other fun and educational offerings at her school (from Dream Enrichment Classes as well as other vendors/providers). This year has been her favorite b/c she really likes her teacher Ms. Tina. She says there's much more freedom to interact with other students and the noise level/interactivity isn't as much a concern with this teacher as previous ones so then the kids are more free to really get into their various weekly projects. Even though my daughter isn't especially into science/engineering/other STEM subject matters, she loves EE. She says it's just so fun and interesting. I'm glad for this program at her school and hope it continues. She enjoys it so much and the pictures they take show how much all the kids learn through all the weekly challenging projects. It is not cheap, per se, but for less than $400 for a whole school year's worth of classes, averaging out to less than $20 per class, my husband and I feel it's a good investment of time and money for our little one. We're glad she likes EE and hope she'll continue to grow in knowledge and understanding of STEM through this and other similar enrichment classes, even if she doesn't enter into a STEM career path, we still want her to be enriched through these experiences.

My friend and I went on an hour long horseback ride today and we had so much fun! Everyone there…read morewas friendly, professional and very helpful. The horses looked like they were well taken care of and you can tell the staff love each and every animal. I highly recommend this place to anyone who's a beginner or an expert. The ride was just long enough and easy but fun. One of our guides, named Donnie, was talking with everyone, cracking jokes and made me feel very comfortable. He was great!! However, during my most recent visit, I encountered two staff members I had never seen before, and they were noticeably rude and pushy. The tall, large‑built woman at the front seemed upset or irritated, and her attitude made the interaction uncomfortable. Their behavior genuinely made me reconsider returning, which is disappointing because the stables have always been a lovely place before this.
