The Ming Palace is literally a three minute walk from my house, so last Friday, The Man and I decided to give it a shot.
When we couldn't find a menu online, he gallantly offered to walk the three minutes up the road to order for us.
I asked for veggie chow mein, spring rolls and something with beef.
The chow mein was very tasty, but the "something with beef" was something akin to kebab meat in a Bisto-type sauce, with slimy mushrooms.
When given an option for large or small spring rolls, The Man went for large. We received one GIANT spring roll which was about 98% bean sprouts, 1% hard odd tasting pork, and 1% tiny shrimp.
It was far too much poor quality filling and not nearly enough tasty crispy casing. Plus it came with no sauce!
We also ordered fried rice and received shrimp chips, both of which were fine but nothing to write home about.
All in all, I might consider trying a veggie dish here again if we're desperate, but probably not ... read more
