It is at the edge of Cannock Chase and if you sit on the far side of the pub by the window you can see for miles. The name comes from the old windmill in the grounds across the bowling green. In the winter it is lovely sitting by the roaring fire. There is a bar, lounge and upstairs restaurant. Sunday lunch is excellent with a good choice of meat. You can also order off the menu. The fish and chips are massive and amazing with crispy batter. Never had a bad meal here just sometimes they go over the top with peas but if you love them it's fine. They do good bread and butter pudding with custard. They also do real ale.

The staff were all very welcoming, and we were all really impressed with the friendly, efficient service. The menu was full of English comfort foods...and they executed everything beautifully. Just look at my photos to get an idea...I tried the goats cheese and caramelised onion strudel, which came balanced on potatoes and perfect ratatouille. If you ever find yourself in this part of the country, it is definitely worth popping in here for some lunch! *Pro tip: It sounded like they get very booked up in the evening, so ring ahead to ensure you get a table!!

The drinks tick the boxes too, even stocking some fairly unusual beers for a suburban boozer such as Blue Moon from the USA. Be warned though, the pub can get very busy when in it's in drinking mode. On Friday and Saturday nights expect a queue at the bar. On some evenings it can feel like this place is the local for all of Four Oaks' residents. Lunch indoors during the winter months next to the log fire or just reclining in the comfortable arm chairs is a heart warming joy. The food is always excellent, from a large yet mainly traditional British menu. They have a well stocked wine menu and plenty of guest/traditional beers & ales. The ONLY downside is that the establishment is a bit small in size (indoors) and so on popular nights can get quite cramped but in the summers months the outdoor seating helps to alleviate this problem.

We ordered and were given our receipt, all good we thought. 50 mins later with three hungry children and a hungry wife I said the next member of staff to come out I'll ask where our food is, about 10 mins later (1 hour after ordering) I grabbed a member of staff and asked about the food I had ordered. 5 mins later the chef came to our table and told is they had missed the ticket and our food was priority. 20 mins later I put my coat on and was ready to leave when finally our food came. Sadly it was cold like it had been waiting to be served and the burgers were burnt to a crisp. We ate what we could and left. Wont be coming back.
