Going through the museum I was overwhelmed by the history our nation has experienced in the past century and this century. Part of me wanted to read every display and look at every detail. Time was brief though. This was my second visit to this museum. There are three different areas in this museum: The military police, chemical, and engineer museum. There are three gift stores inside, and they were full of items I could not get outside of the base in most stores except online. I got post cards of the crossing pistols, a giant hoodie jacket, and tee with the crossing pistols.

I was especially curious about all the animals and how they interacted with each other... they all roam around together (Emu, dogs, cats, chickens, pigs, horses, etc) and they all get along like Noah's Ark. The animals all behave, like to play and love the attention and crackers. I have never seen so much pig paraphernalia! I wish I had know about her when Aunt Betty died to donate her vast pig collection to the museum. She also rents rooms (Air B&B) for $40-$50 per night. We met a great Indain couple who had been there for 10 days taking advantage of working remote to stay in fun places and see the country. i can't wait to talk the stepdaughter.Go visit! But…read moreif anyone has driven on a Missouri highway before, you've seen ads for Meramac Caverns, which is just up the road from the Wax Museum. Unfortunately, they operate with tourist season and open after Memorial Day. But this is a diamond in the rough, I swear. The museum is based on the testimony of Rudy Turilli, who says that Jesse James was not shot by Robert Ford. In fact it was all a ruse, and Jesse lived to be 102. There is a video you watch when you first enter the exhibit, with live video of Jesse James. Yes, I was skeptical too of the idea of "live video", but there is footage of the 102 year old James. Along with a WAX figure of the 102 y/o!!! I KNOW. TOO COOL! It even turned out the nice man playing banjo tending the museum was related to James. This place totally trumps the Caverns. And right next door, is the Toy Museum, which we skipped this time around.

Stopped here during a weekend trip near Lake of the Ozarks. Missouri has so many caves and I'd been…read morewanting to do one, so glad we picked this one. You can grab tickets online or in person, and they have a really cute gift shop with fun little trinkets worth browsing before or after your tour. Our tour guide Lee was so amazing! He's been there for years and years and you can just tell. Great stories, super personable, the kind of guide that makes the whole experience way more memorable. We even spotted a bat hibernating which was such a cool unexpected moment! The cave itself is fascinating and I loved that it was great for all ages. Our group ranged from little kids to people in their 70s and everyone was into it with no problems. A few spots can get slightly slippery so just watch your step, but there are handrails throughout so nothing felt unsafe. Also found out they host events here too like a black light event and even concerts inside the cave which sounds incredibly cool. Definitely want to come back for one of those. Overall I was really impressed and would highly recommend adding this to your Missouri road trip list.

That's pretty rare with cave tours. This was the only cave tour we did during our week-long family summer vacation in Missouri and we enjoyed it. Our guide, Maddie, was wonderful and very enthusiastic. The tour was an hour and we had a smaller group who were wonderful and I enjoyed learning about the cave, the history of the cave, and walking all around. It was fun and well done. If you are nearby, this is something I think you should do. They have plenty of parking, nice grounds, a penny press souvenir machine, a nice gift shop and are great with kids with some other interactive things to do before or after the tour.

They museum is full of lots of old cars and vehicles. They have a very nice memorial wall. There are tons of awesome old artifacts. They had a very interesting Bonnie and Clyde display and the role Missouri played. There are also modern interactive exhibits. They have a eye open short video on texting and driving they will show to anyone who asks. I recommend it. Entrance is free. The door is around the front and on the left side kind of under the building. The way is marked with signs. I'd call this about a good 1-2hour stop you can stay as short or as long as you like and good for pretty much all ages.

There is a video that you watch at the end of the tour and it is hands down incredible. When the young lady was telling us stories, I got goosies and tears in my eyes. I have even more respect for Astronauts and now my youngest son wants to join the Space Program.
