Prior to posting this review, I sent Donna Jones (DJ) from Mindwell Hypnosis (MH) an email detailing everything I'm writing in this review. I requested a refund to rectify the situation. It's been over 3 weeks and no word.
I chose MH from of a referral (a girlfriend had met DJ, but not used her services). I sought out Hypnosis specifically for weight loss and after looking at the MH website, it looked like her specialty. I paid $1,000 for four 1-hour long sessions scheduled once a week for four weeks in a row (the sessions ran a bit longer). As a person I found DJ to be warm, sensitive, soft spoken, and friendly. So I was conflicted as to if I should write a negative review. But, I paid a lot of money for a service that did not meet my expectations. In fact, post treatment, I find myself 25 lbs. heavier, with more sugar cravings, and negative self-chatter than prior to our sessions. I found her programming to be more damaging to my subconscious mind than helpful. Her home studio is an unprofessional atmosphere and I would not recommend her services.
Here are examples of what occurred and why I feel this way:
~During my First Session, I was sharing my deepest thoughts about sensitive topics around my weight and behind DJ, appeared her husband, when he saw us in session speaking, he just stood there and he didn't leave. I had to stop and tell DJ that he was standing there. I found his presence to be startling.
~After this first session, I reached out to you immediately because I was having intense sugar cravings, which I was not having prior to our session. DJ suggested during hypnosis to "eat less sugar" - but all it did was make me think of sugar more and more. I immediately brought this to DJ's attention and asked that she to use wording that is most productive to my desired outcome. Language of manifestation and the law of attraction; asking for what I want, not what I don't want. I felt that as a hypnotist, DJ would/should already have this knowledge. The words used are important particularly when programming the subconscious mind.
~During the actual hypnosis, DJ's cat was continuously going in and out of the room. I would hear the stool swivel, her walk to the door, the clicking from the door opening and closing, her walk back and the stool squeak as she sat back down. The cat would whine outside and this kept repeating, pulling me out of the relaxed state. She did notify me that cats lived at her home, but I didn't realize they would be entering and exiting the treatment room during our session.
~DJ was not consistent and communication was lacking. Sometimes she confirmed the day prior to an appointment and sometimes not. She was not clear from one session to the next whether I was to wait at the reception lobby for her to pick me up or sign myself in and go directly to her apartment.
~When I arrived to one of my sessions, DJ looked like as if she had been up all night; not showered, hair greasy and messily put up. When I entered her apartment, the foyer reeked of dirty dusty cat piss filled kitty litter and the strong scented candle to try and cover it up made it worse. It was such an intense disgusting smell that I couldn't breathe, it made me cough a lot -until she opened the window for fresh air.
~During the sessions, she give a lot of lip service, saying how much she cares and thinks about her clients between sessions. But if she really cared, she would take the time and effort to call, text or email to check-in. On my last day of treatment, she made a big deal about asking me if its ok for her to stay in touch with me in the coming months to see how I make progress. Specifically saying that you would definitely check in in a couple weeks and then again after that. That was April 9. It is now August 8. NO WORD AT ALL!
~My biggest issues with MH, was that DJ didn't listen when I requested she only program my mind with positives (what I want) and not negatives (what I don't want). After the first failed session where she programmed me to think "eat less sugar" (which made me think of sugar a lot more) she did it again in my third session with "my body not is a trash can" (making me think of my body as a trash can). In manifestation work, the universe doesn't hear negatives. For instance, you would never say, "I want to be debt free" because the universe will just bring more debt. You don't say, "I want to lose weight" because the universe will just bring you more weight. Instead, the more productive words to use are the positive; I want financial freedom and I want to be healthy and fit. Even after I made this very clear after the first instance, she did it again. For what I paid, the scripts used for each hypnosis session should have been tailor made for me and my situation prior to my arrival.
In conclusion, Donna Jones from Mindwell Hypnosis is lacking in integrity and professionalism. My time and money were wasted using this service and I am still feeling read more
