I, however, insisted on trying it out first. Luckily, I did. The gym was tiny, dank, and dirty. The atmosphere was uncomfortable, with men walking around grunting and even farting--definitely not my scene. My husband, on the other hand, decided to stick with it due to its proximity to our home. He figured the low cost and convenience made it worthwhile, so he developed a routine and stuck with it. Then the hurricane hit, and the gym was closed for over a month. My husband lost his routine, and I didn't want him going back because we never saw any professional remediation company address potential hurricane damage. Despite our concerns, when we tried to cancel his membership, the nightmare got worse. We called the 34th Street location (where we signed up) to cancel, only to be told they couldn't process it because the 34th location had "never closed." That's despite the fact that Pasadena--the gym he actually used --had been flooded. We were forced to sign up at 34th only because the Pasadena location was never open for signups, but their records clearly showed his usage at Pasadena. In the end, they refused to cancel his membership and scammed him out of over $500 for a service he couldn't even use.

The lead instructor(green hair) spent an unacceptable amount of time talking about politics instead of doing her job. It was unprofessional, distracting, and completely inappropriate for a paid class. Her attitude made things even worse-- clearly uninterested in the people in the room. There was no effort to create a supportive or welcoming environment. Instead, it felt tense and uncomfortable, like clients were an inconvenience rather than the reason the business exists. At this point, it's obvious this isn't a one-off situation. This kind of behavior doesn't continue unless management is either ignoring it or allowing it. That's the real problem here. Studio management has failed, and it shows in the quality of the experience. It's no surprise this studio is losing both members and instructors--people don't stick around in an environment like this. Corporate needs to step in immediately and take a hard look at what's going on at this location. Allowing a lead instructor to consistently behave this way is unacceptable and damages the brand. Until there is real accountability, there's no reason to expect anything to improve. I won't be returning, and I wouldn't recommend this studio to anyone expecting a professional or respectful experience.

I called and gave my insurance and told scheduler that I experienced a hamstring tear. The woman on the phone said she couldn't make it at the location I requested because they don't treat hamstrings and so she made an appointment with a physician in South Pasadena. I waited for this appointment and was in a lot of pain. I showed up they took me back and gave me several x-rays without saying one word. First of all, I hate x-rays and I hate getting irradiated for any reason. So I was really angry to find out the x-rays were of my spine not my hamstring and they didn't even bother asking why I was there!! Or telling me what they were doing!!! I assumed they had my appointment info. (Will they charge for these??? We'll see) The second thing I wanted to say is that I switched my claim to Workmen's Comp. I had to deal with bcunning@floridaortho.com. He is the worst. VERY rough manner and no one including even his own staff members can get a hold of him when they need something. So good luck trying to schedule something if you're on Workmen's Comp and you are in pain. I'm sure the doctors are great, but I can't see myself having to deal with him or any other incompetence moving forward. And now I lost an entire week.
