My first time in La Paz and we stumbled upon this stellar sushi restaurant after swimming with whale sharks. Nestled behind a large farm door was a small patio, partially covered with fabric to keep the shade on a hot Baja afternoon. My mother and I shared three dishes and we were particularly excited by the two in the appetizer/salad categories (pictured).
The Tuna Curricane (sashimi wrapped sushi vegetables) was delicate and a new dish to me (one of my mothers favorite), but I would have preferred a more spicy/distinct mayo based sauce which seemed a little too much like light mayonnaise.
The salad was beautiful and a great deal, with so many pieces of tuna and a towering pile of lettuce with many minced fruits through out. It was a beautiful combination with very light salad dressing.
Finally we were still a little hungry so we split a roll which was your pretty typical crab roll with tuna on top, except for the unique asparagus addition which was a nice touch. The roll was also drizzled with an eel sauce that tasted like teriyaki.
Overall, the presentation of the dishes and the quaint patio made this restaurant experience. The dishes were good quality, creative, and made of fresh ingredients, but I would have liked the sauces to live up to the rest of the meal! read more
