Weeeeellll...I wondered about this decision right as I walked in the door. The person who sat us while friendly was touching their philtrum minus any shame. Maybe it was a one-off, but I immediately considered turning around and leaving the empty environs. Having eaten at another Mimi's and having-a-better-than-standard diner level experience, I thought this Mimi's might work. I was hungry and along the endless blacktop of Academy that is somehow an arterial but feels like a couple aisles through a 20 mile long strip mall. Anyway, the staff was cordial but I couldn't help think the place needs a deep clean, fresh coat of paint and refresher on server etiquette. Speedier service would be good too. And, distinct water spots on the silverware are unsightly. Some physical areas of the restaurant literally felt, well, grimy. I secretly wondered if my dish would make me sick. Thankfully, it didn't. It and my lunch partner's were fine. Exciting? No, but not problematic. Later, I shared details of my dining experience. Awestruck, a local was quite perplexed we stepped foot into Mimi's. "They were shut down recently, like health inspection shut down." "Oh my," I thought, this explains my immediate radar-like perception all was not right. Sure enough when searched, a recent news story confirmed a rendezvous with the health inspector lead to a staggering 25 health code violations. Before I knew that, I was going to suggest managerial attention within this review. Mimi's has potential, but the faux pas (plural) stacked in my experience, and in the experience of the inspector apparently. Would I return? Absolutely, unequivocally no. Not after reading about the 25 violations. If my understanding had not evolved to that level of understanding, who knows. But, having seen that after my experience, hard no. One of the most disappointing meals I hav ever had. I added a star because the service was excellent. The food looked good. I ordered the crab cake benedict. The poached eggs were cooked correctly but needed salt. The potatoes were cold, had obviously been sitting out for hours and had little flavor other than of stale potatoes.. The english muffin was cold and soggy. The crab cakes had little flavor and were mushy. The hollandaise was cold and had little flavor. If I had been eating blindfolded I would not have known the meal had hollandaise sauce. For a premium price, one of the worst servings of eggs benedict I have eaten. read more

This place was a nightmare today. Our reservations were for 12 pm... for the Mother's Day brunch. We were finally seated at 130, no compensation for our long wait. No drinks, with the exception of 3 mimosas that we paid for, but stood at the bar for a good 12 min before any acknowledgment was made we were wanting to order drinks (we had to ask another hostess to nudge the girl making the drinks to even take our order. We get seated with a menu placed in front of us that was unappealing... unappealing being an understatement. We totally missed the brunch time frame. Gee, I wonder why??? Ordered a few waters & a lemonade plus an appetizer. Then, after all of us decided we were not going to even remotely want anything from that "holiday" menu, we canceled our order. Did pay for the drinks & left. This was terrible. I don't care if you were understaffed. Making a party of 5 wait an hour & a half past their reservation time is truly unacceptable. Man I miss this place! They closed all the ones near us so when we were on the road and saw one we jumped at the opportunity. They have something for everyone here and it's just a solid place to stop. Sadly they were out of sauv blanc so I had to settle for a chard. Ugh. Other than that everything was fine. Service was a little slow. No one checked on us after we got food. In fact, we were long done and waiting for our check when a server finally came over. I think we may had around 3 different ones so we were confused as to who to ask but whatever. Food was good and it did the job. It was not crowded when we arrived late lunch time, it was quiet, but it filled up fairly quickly after that. Cute NOLA decor like always. We had fish and chips and a turkey club, with a house side salad. Overall fine and if we found a Mimi's again we'd stop and eat. Hopefully they won't be out of my go-to wine next time. read more

We have previously enjoyed using Mimis for dine in and also for occasional family catering. Today we attempted to order catering for family after hospitalization. The online site was very difficult to maneuver. We repeatedly got messages that it was not working. We use online ordering often and are not inept at the process. After45 minutes online, we attempted to call. The person on the phone would not help and said they only took online orders. We ordered elsewhere and will not return to Mimis again. read more

We happened to be in Colorado Springs and decided to stop at an old favorite of ours, Mimi's Cafe. We used to frequent them in the Denver Metro area, but after Covid, they closed. Thinking they were no more, we were delighted to see there is still one left in the State of Colorado! Gabriella, Gabby, was most attentive and friendly, providing excellent service throughout our meal. She even mentioned they had fresh, right-out-of-the-oven bran muffins -- and they were absolutely delicious! Little touches like that really made our visit special. It was such a pleasure to enjoy a relaxing meal in a familiar place that still delivers on quality and hospitality. We'll definitely be back whenever we're in Colorado Springs! read more

Terrible service! Our waiter didn't write down what we wanted. We had to ask for silverware, he brought them to us in paper napkins while those around us had black cloth napkins. My brother ordered his coffee at least 4x, he got it after we were done and ready to leave. My turkey tasted like it had been frozen a long time. We never got refills for our drinks, my husband got up and refilled his coffee. We tried to get the attention of the manager, to ask for our main course, she never looked our way. The Caesar salad was a bunch of lettuce with a big glob of dressing on top of slivered Parmesan cheese, not mixed. He was sloppy and a little cocky. Worse customer service I've ever had. Never will reserve a spot there for Thanksgiving. The food was mediocre at best. Mimi's has gone downhill; I used to eat at Mimi's regularly, in California. Sadly this cafe should shutter the doors. In the past it offered good food and great service. Went here last Saturday night. Two servers and one chef. Our party of six waited and waited for our food. Our server was trying his best but simply could not keep up with the demand. He was dealing with only one small room because the rest of this restaurant was empty. Think I know why. Mimi's café is just not what it used to be, except for the corn chowder maybe. It's still good. The food was just okay, but where they were really lacking was in service. Our server had no warmth or professionalism to make up for her mediocre service and the incorrect orders that she did not write down nor apologize for. She disappeared, and we had to get our own silverware and find ketchup on another table. She appeared to be more interested in drinking her Big Gulp behind the counter than in waiting tables. read more

Food is MEH at best. Went for the first time last week.. I just wanted steak and eggs after celebrating my birthday the night before. They were out of steak. On a Sunday morning. There really wasn't anything else on the menu that looked appealing. Settled on mixed berry crepes (filling did not taste anything like orange marmalade and cream). Eggs were cooked correctly, bacon was scattered around the plate to make it look less bare. Just meh.. all around.. It was soooooo loud! Like an MCL cafeteria vibe. One friendly waiter welcomed us in when we were walking in, hostess was not welcoming or made any effort to smile, loads of staff said goodbye when we were leaving and one guy packed our leftovers for us (we were fine but he grabbed a bag and packed it for me) Lobby seating has been there since probably 1950 (dirty, sunken cushions, very worn) and everything from tables to booths could use some TLC and updates. We were a party of 8. We showed up at 1pm, 8/3. The restaurant was not busy at all. Out server Griffin was very nice. We waited almost 45 minutes for our food. Then it came out a plate at a time. From the first plate being served to the last plate being served was at least 15 minutes. Soup was luke warm, french fries were cold, one of us ordered potatoes (instead of fruit) with the avocado toast (which was cold) and was served with cold fries. The chocolate chip pancakes had maybe 10 chocolate chips on them. No syrup was served until we asked and for more chocolate chips. I had the green goddess salad, with dressing on the side. It was dressed. The worst part was the poached egg was the last item to come out. It was ordered medium poach, it was super super runny. The young lady (maybe a manager) replaced one of the fries and had the soup warmed up. She asked if we wanted the Green Goddes salad made over. We chose not due to the fact the meal took so long in the first place. She also did not charge us for the poached egg. Some of the items we did not address due to having to maybe waiting another 15 to 30 minutes. My husband and I have been in the restaurant business many years. We know that was a very long time to wait. And the fact the kitchen couldn't get all of the food out at the same time is ridiculous. That was one of the worst experiences I have had. Thank goodness we were with family and having a good time. We have been to the Mimi's in Scottsdale, AZ many times. It always was very good. If this is a sign of how Mimi's runs the business, I don't see this store lasting too much longer. We will not be back to Mimi's due to the awful experience. read more

I would not recommend this place to anyone. First the food. My wife and I ordered the fish and chips, to split. The batter was bland as was the tarter sauce. The fish pieces were uniform in shape, making it appear that they were prepackaged and battered. Not necessarily a negative, but suggesting a lack of ambition in the kitchen. On a positive note, the fish was cooked perfectly. The fries (chips) that were not under the fish (the fish pieces were on top of a generous plate of fries) were crisp and tasty, however the fries that were under the fish were soggy and not good. Our granddaughters split the chicken fingers. These were terrible. The batter was so hard that it required a sharp steak knife to cut through it, except that at one point even that didn't work. Second the service. It appeared that our waiter was not well trained. As mentioned above my wife and I split a meal and the girls also split a meal. The waiter brought the meals on one plate, not offering a second plate until asked for one so we didn't have to eat off the same plate. When we complained about the chicken tenders, he brought the steak knife and saw how tough the crust was. He said he would tell the manager and chef. No one came to apologize about the food, although we did see the waiter tell someone (perhaps the manager?). Thus, bland and ill prepared food and poor service results in our writing off Mimi's Café for good. read more

There aren't many Mimi's Cafe left in Colorado. I was fortunate to have dined here during a recent visit to The Springs. I wish they had a Mimi's in Castle Rock or South Denver. Service was a little slow when I visited here. My waiter redeemed himself halfway through my meal. The interior of this Mimi's is clean. I love how they decorate each Mimi's! Great job with this! I ordered the 3-Course Menu. You choose a Starter (salads or a cutoff soup), an option to add an appetizer, choose a Main Course (seven choices) and dessert. I ordered a Petite House Salad, Jambalaya and Bread Pudding. Fantastic meal! Everything was great. I've always enjoyed dining at Mimi's. Again, so glad I chose to dine here recently. It was between this place and a local restaurant. Bill of sale was reasonable as well. Men's restroom was clean. I would love to return here during a future visit to The Springs. If you haven't been to a Mimi's I recommend dining here. Great place to bring the fam after Sunday church service. I recommend trying the 3-Course Menu and skipping the appetizer. The 3-Course is a lot of food! You won't walk away with a slightly empty stomach. Hope you enjoy their food and the ambiance. read more

Good service and great mango mimosa, the ambiance is old school in a cute old building with displays covering the high walls. What's with the fish scheme? I had the salmon and salad. The salad was heavily dressed and salmon cooked well but maybe with butter. It was tasty but not dairy free. My husband said the dip was okay, but not much flavor. The added onion option would have been a good choice. Though everything was passable there are too many great restaurants to make this place one we would relish a return to. read more

I ordered through a delivery company, before you jump to its their fault here is why I believe this happened at the restaurant. I ordered an entire meal (listed together on the menu) and a two pack of muffins. I received in a bag without a receipt just a piece of salmon and a cup of marinara sauce.This is not something you can order on the menu and seems more like an employee meal (I have family members that have worked in food service for years) Here is the kicker I can't eat fish, so no dinner at all for me.
