Animal Services Center of the Mesilla Valley - I would love to take this kitty into my loving home.

I asked him for information regarding transportation for a cat that has been coming to my back patio. I explained that I am no longer driving, and I had posted on Ring pictures of this kitty to see if anyone is missing him with no one responding. Charlie was so nice and helpful, although they do not transport animals, he gave me his manager, Mayura's phone number, and suggested that I text her. As soon as I texted Mayura, she called me and told me that I needed to see if the cat was chipped. She provided me the phone number of Animal Control. Mayura also provided me the number of SNAP just in case the cat is not chipped. She mentioned that SNAP can help with the cost of having the cat neutered and vaccinated. I did call Animal Control and as soon as I am able to get this cat in a kennel. I will call Animal Control to see if he is chipped. I do believe this cat belongs to someone, because he is so well behaved. Charlie and Mayura are truly kind and love animals. I'm sure the entire staff is just as caring. Thank you for all you do for the animals. I will go to your website to donate to your amazing cause.

We got our first doggie! Meet Reyna (aka Rey Solo). She's already the queen of the house…read more My daughter has been so lonely since we've moved here and everything was shutdown because of Covid. We knew we wanted her to socialize, and figured a dog can help her emotional state as she's been crying everyday for friends. We didn't know how to get a dog and couldn't afford to spend a lot. Enter Animal Rescue League of El Paso and Loretta. We applied to foster and adopt but the only one working and responding at this time as COVID has closed most facilities but the need is still there. I submitted my application online at their site and Loretta called and spent about 30 minutes asking me questions about what type of dog was best for our situation and family. She set up a time for us to come and I asked about 2 on petfinder but the little breeds went quickly. We went with just the notion of checking out the dogs available, and we never felt rushed or pushed. They are secure and took out temperature as we arrived. You need to ring in each time and their facility is clean and organized. All the dogs looked healthy and I saw someone cleaning out feces in the cages and each cage was clearly labeled. My kids fell in love with Shelby (temporary name) and we spent close to an hour bonding and asking questions. Everyone was kind and patient with us. The process was easy to adopt and they made sure we knew what the expectations were of owning and what we were responsible for. I would highly recommend this facility if you're looking to adopt and save a life. We felt that not only do they care about their animals, they care about potential owners as well and want the best for both of us.

Potential adopters beware. I completed all adoption requirements, provided a yard video, answered…read morequestions, and informed the rescue I was driving from Albuquerque to El Paso to adopt. After taking the day off work and driving for hours, I was called when I was less than 1.5 hours away and told I was suddenly ineligible. The owner insisted a voicemail had been left (it wasn't), and the dismissive, unapologetic tone made an already heartbreaking situation feel incredibly cruel. Denying an adoption is understandable, but allowing someone to travel hours before communicating concerns shows a shocking lack of compassion and professionalism. I hope this rescue improves its honesty, communication, and respect toward potential adopters.

INHUMANE ANIMAL TREATMENT. I just recently bought a dog from this so called "humane society" and…read moreafter only 2 weeks, I found out that poor thing had distemper. He stopped eating and drinking water; he looked so helpless and I was heartbroken. Then, when I went back to this "humane society" to put the poor dog down, the staff was extremely inconsiderate, disrespectful, and inhumane to myself and my sick dog. This truly made an already painful situation 100x worse. I will never step foot in this inhumane shelter again.

All ladies up front seemed busy so I looked around and read a sign that says to sign in prior to entering. So I signed my name and wrote down the time I entered. I was walking around checking the office and then took a seat and waited. Another couple entered and they were greeted by one of the ladies so I stood up and noticed someone had crossed my name off the checklist. I told the lady I had signed in so she gave me paperwork to fill out. Once I finished filling out, I felt as though I did not exist there. All the ladies totally ignored me and just kept on talking and laughing while I stood there waiting for someone to notice me and give me more guidance. I find this place to have rude staff that are not so friendly up front at the adoption office. Once you go inside to take a look at the animals, the staff are much nicer and approaches you to ask if you are looking for a particular breed of puppy. Minus one star for service up front, and minus one star for the unsanitary. Thank goodness I am here for the animals, not the people. Other than that, I saw they had mice, cats, dogs, rabbits, and possibly ferret?
