We checked into room 715 on the concierge floor for two nights. There was a little bit of a mixup upon checking regarding our keys & our room The hotel is in the heart of downtown with a trolley stop right in front and is walking distance to all of the sites. We appreciated the concierge floor with a complimentary breakfast until 1030 and a happy hour every evening. It was a standard breakfast with a waffle maker, muffins, fruit, cereal, juice, yogurt, eggs & sausage. Wine, coffee, cocktails, soft drinks, make your own nachos, cheesecake, charcuterie... were available at our evening happy hour. Wednesday evening we enjoyed Wisconsin night with brats, grilled cheese curds, specialties... The room was well equipped, plush and very comfortable for two nights. The air conditioning worked well, the bed was comfortable and our room was quiet. read more

Needed a place to stay for the night as I was in town for the Counting Crows concert. I'm a pretty loyal Marriott guy so that's the first place I look. This property is like a flash back. Windows that don't open. Very basic floor plan. Old furniture, blinds, etc.... The primary reason I selected this property is because it's a full service hotel with executive lounge. Well, what a mistake. No real food or snacks in the evening, and the breakfast was something fit for the military. Location is a bit odd too. No parking to speak of. Next time I'll probably go for the Aloft across the river. read more

This hotel worked for me. When you enter and go up the steps, or ramp, there are 2 check-in desks. We were quickly checked in and on our way up to our room. Your room key card is required to be able to press the desired floor in the elevator. Room was clean, plenty of very absorbent towels, had a mirror over the desk, and the chair had a lamp next to it. I know those sound like small things, but believe me when I tell you that I have been in a number of hotels where comfort and needs of the guest are not taken into consideration. My only complaint, when the bathroom door was open, you could not sit properly on the toilet, so stand to the side and close the door before use. I also liked that the room temperature control unit was easy to understand and adjustable by the room occupant. Downtown Milwaukee is not known for its tourist attractions, and our view was of the roof and the air conditioner units. At least it was quiet. We valet parked our car, taken care of quickly and retrieval was also quick. Pleasant stay. read more

I'm a titanium elite member so I stay at a lot of Marriott properties. I was very disappointed in my stay. I definitely would not stay again. Issues. Walls are very thin. We could here ever word in the room next door. Toilet ran all night Treadmills we're old and made a lot of noise. The TVs on the equipment didn't work. The exercise equipment had seen its better days. The water was warm at best. read more

Ugh this is a hard one. It's more of a 3.5, but I'll go ahead and give it a 4. I'll say this: It was absolutely the most perfect location for my wedding at The Box MKE. Totally convenient for me and some guests. Ridiculously pricey, so most of our people passed on this hotel and opted for a cheaper one and an Uber ride in. The service was impeccable. I couldn't have asked for more accommodating employees. The Marriott has great customer service from what we experienced during our stay. We worked with the most wonderful sales coordinator, Kim. She made everything so smooth and she was so nice! If you're a bride, you'll appreciate working with Kim. She handles everything like a dream and answered all of my questions in a timely manner. The communication was awesome. The Marriott sent us a complimentary bottle of champagne and chocolate covered strawberries. When we couldn't figure out a door situation, they immediately sent someone up to help us. The room was clean, but smaller than I would expect of a king corner room that cost over $400 to stay at for two nights. This is the main reason why I'd rate it more of a 3.5, but considering other hotels in the downtown area are just as expensive, if not even more so, I decided to just go with a 4. We really did have a great experience. They say they don't charge you right away, but they do. They immediately take the money out of your account on top of a $50 insurance per night. We had the money in our account for it, but just in case you don't, be aware. They refunded the $100 insurance that week after they clean the room and see there's no damage. The slide the final bill under your door, assuming there's no damage to the room and after you're done, you just leave. Unless there's an issue with the bill, you can just return the keys to the front desk and be on your marry way. We live in Milwaukee so I doubt we'll be back. But we definitely enjoyed our stay and our wedding photos in the lobby turned out great! It was definitely a good choice for wedding purposes. Oh and they allowed us to do a room block for our wedding guests without any crazy stipulations, unlike all the other hotels we called to ask. Still a bit on the pricey side, but still better than us having to book our wedding with the Marriott. read more

However, for free, it was a nice thing. Breakfast is from 7am-9am. All the staff were super friendly. This hotel is close to a lot of great restaurants and not far from the Milwaukee Public Market. Nice new property that only recently opened. This is a "full service" Marriott which means that it has a restaurant, pool, concierge/executive lounge, and even a bellman to hail a taxi for you. It still has that "new hotel" smell. Standard Marriott amenities - coffee and tea service, lots of towels, comfortable bed, large flat screen television, power outlets in the lamps and plenty of power outlets at the work table. As is normal for "higher end" hotels, their Internet service is only free for Gold and Platinum levels of the Marriott Rewards program, otherwise it's $15/day. My room was mostly quiet. I could hear some noise from the hallway and I could hear some water noises from the neighboring bathroom. Nothing significant, but notable. Great staff in the executive lounge. Very friendly, very helpful. A really nice space. UPDATE: All rooms have a space for a refrigerator but they do not have fridges in all rooms. They're working on this. No ETA. read more

Very personable staff. Strange occurrence, the reservation we made on the Marriott site the evening prior did not show by our name or confirmation #. The manager had to re-enter our reservation so check it took a bit. The hotel was as described and expected. Everything was clean, necessary and appreciated. They have a pool, it is small but that is common downtown. Best overall were the valet staff, that team was phenomenal. Quick, friendly and incredibly helpful. They deserve every tip, they worked for it and had amazing attitudes even though the temps were freezing! read more

I cam here for a conference and I really enjoyed my visit here! I did not stay at the hotel itself, so I can't rate that experience but I was in a conference room all day and then had to also get in contact with the valet and the hotel staff. The front desk staff was incredibly friendly. At one point, another visit tried to cut in front of me at the front desk. The staff person saw that I was there first and immediately let the person know that I was standing there first. I really appreciated that! He was really nice. Valet was also really great too! It was actually only $14! So it's worth using. I was growing frustrated trying to find parking - so I like that they had this service. I would definitely come back again and possibly look into staying, but I'm very grateful that my company chose this place for the conference at least! read more

I am a frequent business traveler who loves to give the benefit of he doubt, but it this location has some challenges. It has a concierge lounge that is marketed as a spot that traveling professionals can relax, connect and do work. Reality is that the staff is constantly removing and cleaning dishes/flatware in a very noisy manner. Just tonight I saw 4 different people escape while on phone calls or working due to the clean up noise. I asked if they can close a door to tone down the sound and they said no. Lounge is marketed to be open until 10pm , but if you come in after 8:30, you have to ask for food/drinks. Not an exclusive amenity at all. And not user freientdly. read more

***This new Marriott has a great location (within walking distance of Milwaukee's beautiful lakefront area); it also showcases many of the benefits of being a new hotel like a contemporary and sleek decor; room rates are too high though*** The Milwaukee Marriott Downtown is a new hotel and that alone sets it apart from many Marriott properties. Marriott properties just do not feel that contemporary. Even when a Marriott has been renovated, a lot of the property feels dated and even the renovated parts feel too close to the standard Marriott look. This new Marriott feels a lot different though. The lobby's sleeker, more modern, and more tongue-in-cheek look (bookcases in a very minimalist and stone, non-fabric room) that aligns more closely with Marriott's stylish Renaissance brand. The Concierge Lounge also has a very modern look that is more like the lounge area of a contemporary restaurant than the annex room-like Concierge Lounges at many Marriotts. Hallways feature great looking white doors. The carpets though have that horrible floral pattern that is too much like the out-of-date Marriott properties. Rooms, for the most part, stand out when measured against other Marriotts. I really liked the white doors as well as the little white wood and glass nook for the coffee machine and ice bucket. There was a well built closest with a nice door as opposed to those occasionally flimsy, sliding door contraptions at many Marriotts. There were other nice touches too like glass shelves for toiletries in the bathroom and contemporary artwork on the walls. There were other areas where this new room felt like a standard Marriott. The bed was comfortable, but its headboard, its lighting, and the other furniture were very much standard Marriott equipment. The shower was nice with a good wide cascade of water. Unfortunately, it was not a glass shower though it was incredibly deep so it might work well as a bath tub. I felt the room could have also used an in-room safe. The 24-hr fitness center was nice--very well laid out with a good variety of machines with useful displays. Marriott Rewards Gold and Platinum members have access to the Concierge Lounge and it is a good one. It has a great look--very modern and organized. The counter area is attractive and it is a great platform to showcase food. There is also a variety of seating from several tables to a warm, study-like area with more comfortable seating options (big couch) and a flat screen TV. For breakfast, this Concierge Lounge features your standard Marriott Concierge Lounge breakfast options, but the scrambled eggs were fluffy, moist and not soupy. The bacon was good, crispy and meaty. There was also a variety of individual cereal boxes, oatmeal, and fresh fruit. There were also a few standard Marriott Concierge Lounge breakfast breads and pastries. For dinner, they were offering cheeses and cured meats as cold items. The cheddar cheese was standard stuff, but they were also offering brie, which you do not see at every Concierge Lounge. The cured meats were more flavorful and more like charcuterie than the sliced deli meats you get at most Marriott Concierge Lounges. For hot items, they had crispy duck spring rolls, which were fine--decent crispness but the filing was skimpy and dry. There was also chicken satay, which was tender, pretty moist and came with a sweet and sour sauce that had a fair amount of heat (I also liked the nice touch of little dishes for their side sauces). Service was very good. The entire staff was polite, professional and friendly. The staff had a very consistent personable vibe that shows the management's strength in hiring and training. Room rates are high here. This Marriott is also at a very high rewards category so it takes a lot of points to stay here if you do not want to pay their high room rates. This hotel is still new though; maybe their room rates will come down in time. This is a very good, upscale Marriott; its newness really pays off because this Marriott stands out in several ways compared to other Marriotts. While it has a great location (a short walk to the beautiful lakefront area), room rates are too high. However, if you can get a reasonable room rate here, you are likely to have a very satisfying stay. Valet parking is available at $30/night. The valets are very pleasant and quick. read more

Modern hotel with clean rooms and a very nice concierge lounge. Super good service in that lounge. The hotel restaurant is okay to food. Catch the happy hour food and drink specials before 7:00pm for the best deals. The front desk staff are generally superb. However they are absolutely NOT empowered to change room rates to whatever your agreed upon corporate rate is. Better to head down the street to the Hilton for better rates and much better restaurant options. read more

Really enjoyed our stay at this quality Marriott. From the beginning to the end we were satisfied with all aspects of our visit. The valet was quick, the front desk staff helpful and the concierge lounge staff the best. Speaking of concierge lounge, the best one I have seen and experienced. Staff had it loaded at all times with many different options to choose from. It was so impressive that my wife and I agreed we would return based on that alone. Our room was clean and comfortable. You can never go wrong with Marriott bedding. The location of the hotel can not be beat. You are walking distance to the pier and all downtown attractions. This place was so nice! It looked so modern and brand spanking new! It's located downtown Milwaukee and a few blocks away from the Summerfest! So you know this is one of the places that I plan to stay if I'm going to the Summerfest! The staff was so friendly from the Valet (it's the city so yes you have to pay for parking) to the checkin line. And of course downtown area you pay downtown prices to stay so that was a given. They had plenty of staff assisting you and saying hello which I like the customer service feel. I stayed for one night and the room was your typical set up. King size bed, nice wooden work desk, flat screen TV, glass see through shower, coffee station. I didn't care much for our scenery (the back of another building). We didn't get a chance to see they gym facility or eat in their restaurant. You can also get your Starbucks fix, yes Marriott has a Starbucks in most of their hotels. They did have plenty of space to lounge around. Overall, a clean and well kept hotel. I'd come back again and stay here. read more

I try to stay at this hotel anytime I am in Milwaukee. The hotel is modern, updated, and super clean. I have only stayed for business and can't speak for the pool or fitness center. Elite members have access to one of the larger member lounges I have come across. If you have a business guest in town this is your spot. It has a nice restaurant in the lobby with small and medium size private rooms. There is also a full out Starbucks store connected to the lobby. Again, perfect for business guest. Uber from the hotel is 15 minutes and it keeps you close enough to the interstate that you can basically be anywhere in 10 minutes. read more

I loved this hotel. *sigh* When we checked in the attendant attempted to put us in a different room than what we were paying for which annoyed me to no end, but... that was just one person. So, outside of the fact this hotel looks amazing.... The hotel was excellent! The clean modern decor wins every time. They've managed to hire staff who genuinely appear to care about the hotel, the customers and their jobs. From the valet drivers to the bartenders / waitstaff of the in house bar and grill you will see helpful people who are great at making customers happy. Their overall neat appearance, engaging conversations and friendliness makes guests feel right at home. You can't go wrong with the Marriott, but some Marriotts are better than others this is one of them. read more

Overpriced. Upon arrival in my shuttle I was on a business call. The bellman grabbed my bags and ran inside before I was even out of the car - hello? No concern for service, what this showed me is that he was more concerned about his own agenda and not mine as a visitor. He was patiently waiting for his tip 5 mins later when I finished my call and finally went to the desk. Management, please inform your staff not to touch anyone's personal belongings without asking for their permission. The convenience store has $4 bottles of Aquafina water and many other overpriced snacks and candies for you. This again right here shows me this establishment cares only about money and zero about offering any kind of real convenience. On my way out I went to the bell desk to receive my bags I'd checked before heading to a meeting. I was told to go around to the other side of the hotel where they had moved my bags. Again, very poor service and I think the management staff should take a serious look at the experiences and moments you're creating for your guests. Don't make your customers go to their bags, the bellman gets tipped for bringing it to me. read more

I am a loyal IHG member. However, this Marriott location is amazing! Immediately greeted by last name (before I even introduced myself) and luggage ported to the reception desk. Reception staff is friendly and accomodating. If they dont know an answer, they will say so and help locate someone who does know. Room is clean (no cleaning shortcuts observed...thouroughly cleaned), furniture and decor in excellent condition. Hot water in the shower happens immediately, dont have to wait for 5-10min running water to get hot water--and I am on the 7th floor! Toilet pressure is appropriate (flushes well, and doesnt flush violently like some do on higher floors). Housekeeping staff are friendly and social. Conference staff are accomodating and ready to help at a moments notice. Restaurant staff are fun, friendly, give great recommendations, and are relaxed, even when busy. I love that there is a connected Starbucks! read more

Huge Marriott fan. Been platinum for year. I was happy when Milwaukee got a full service Marriott right downtown. I booked 4 rooms for a mini family reunion. Service from valet to front desk was spectacular. I left some personal item at the front desk and the promptly called me. The restaurant and bar are very nice. We had breakfast and the food was good. But again amazing service for all 7 of us. As for the room new and modern. Great bed and pillows. Bathroom bright and clean with a fab shower. Now the room and bathroom are somewhat small, but it is a city hotel. Lastly, location could not be better. You can walk everywhere. Super close to shopping,food and bars. If your a spa person, I highly recommend the Well Spa. Thanks you to the great customer service. Nice to see some places still have it. read more

Not only did I have to wait an extra 1.5 hours to get a room that's clean (beyond the 3pm checkin time), but you have to pay $10 for internet in the room. Additionally, the room smells like fish or wet, moldy canvas; I can't tell which one. The restaurant is nice, but the service is extremely slow. Nice hotel, clean and comfortable rooms, nice bar downstairs that doubles as the breakfast spot, good downtown location close to restaurants and Public Market. Parking is either valet or parking garage across the street. Valet is convenient, but add another $35/day to your room rate. Don't know what the garage rate is. Wi-Fi is another $10-15/day depending which option you pick. read more

This hotel has a prime location in the upscale part of downtown Milwaukee and is only steps from great food like Umami Moto and Carnivore. It should also boast the outstanding service that I've come to expect from high level Marriott hotels as a Platinum member. With that in mind, I was very disappointed with my last trip to this hotel when I found left over food in the room mini fridge and "something sticky" all over the side table. If simple cleaning like that is not done, it makes you wonder how clean the rest of the room is. All I can say is, be better Marriott, be better. . . If you're looking for a nicer Milwaukee experience, maybe try the Hilton on 5th and Wisconsin. read more

This hotel is great! The rooms are very clean, very modern and super comfortable. I enjoyed the coffee in the room, the amenities and decor. The hotel itself is in an amazing location. Close to the market bar area by wicked hop, close to the summerfest grounds and in the heart of downtown. Cap rides were dirt cheap but you could really walk everywhere. A cab ride to the amtrack station was cheap too. The bar is very modern and has a rustic decor. I really liked it. They also had a great restaurant and a starbucks connected to the hotel. A full starbucks. It was a very cozy hotel and very comfortable. I will always try to stay here when in the area. read more
