An underfunded inner city Milwaukee Public Schools elementary and high school where almost all students qualify for federal funded lunches, if you want to feel like a little volunteering makes a difference this is a good choice. I admire the people who work here, it's a hard largely unappreciated job to be a teacher in general, but the staff and support workers here are really remarkable. I know I couldn't do it. The children are cute and clearly disadvantaged, it absolutely feels good to come in and help out. There are a variety of things you can do, you can read to children, you can help them with their inventory problem, you can do office support work, as examples. The building was a women's hospital in days gone by and the renovation has been sporadic, incomplete and I am pretty certain the building is haunted. I was so sad to box up 20 copies of Langston Hughes that had never been read, but maybe someday a beleaguered English teacher will wander back into that storage area and bring those precious books back out.

She is excited to go to school and each day that she comes home she explains all the interesting things they are doing, plus I feel like her vocabulary and insight about the world around her grows and grows. Both of my sisters who are older than I am went here as well. This is a older school, but a good one. Hopefully, times have changed, as back then they did not have special programs for kids with ADD/ADHD and put everyone into the same category. The playground here is extremely old, that should be remodeled. They had really good teachers back in the days, ones that worked here for 20-30 years. My kindergarten teacher was Mrs Carrnot, or something like that. She was probably almost 60. My 1st grade teacher was Mrs Rice and my 5th was Mary Elm. She pasted away last year and worked at the school for probably 35 years. She was amazing. The lunch program here was really good. After I left and went to middle school, school lunch was a joke. Wow, I recall the blue milk tickets sold her at the book store for 5 cents. During the summer they have the walker school rummage sale, which is a cool event where locals sell goods on the school playground lot.

His teachers, Mrs. Nelson and Mrs. Babcock are so sweet, always planning fun activities and supporting kids' learning at the stage their in. Over all it's play-based preschool program helping littles learn independence, social skills, and cooperation. Oh and it's' a co-op, meaning there is always one additional 'adult' in the room. They rotate between kids in class for their own 'special person days,' and on that day they bring along a parent/adult. I've really enjoyed my time participating in that and seeing first hand how the classroom flows. It really just gives parents the opportunity to be involved in their child's first school experience! They have great resources, like the parent portal and monthly newsletter, great fundraisers you can participate in, and off-site gatherings where families can get to know each other more. We started our son at the preschool level, but they do offer toddler classes as well. 10/10 recommend!

The teachers at Community have been there for years and come from strong teaching backgrounds, which was really important to us when choosing a preschool. We've had such a wonderful experience with my daughter's teachers, and she genuinely loves going to school each day. I also really value the opportunity for parents to be involved in the classroom because it has given me a clear window into what her experience is like each day. We truly couldn't feel more positive about our experience at Community Preschool.

The teachers give plenty of love and attention and I always know that she is safe. If I have any concerns, the director is always available to take my calls or text messages. There is a great playground and outside time is a priority weather permitting. In addition to loving care, this program teaches as well. Lilly has learned so many new skills and I feel that she is very prepared for school. I highly recommend Renaissance Child Development Center.
