Current student going through the program and may change rating based on ongoing experience…read more I started the program about 2-3 weeks ago, mainly because they recently began offering weekend classes, which worked well for me since I have a demanding full-time job. So far, unfortunately, my experience has not been great. I'm not sure if it's because the hybrid/online model is still new for them, but it really feels like they don't have the process fully organized yet. Most of the issues come down to lack of communication and unclear expectations for online students. Once I paid my deposit, I wasn't really guided through the next steps. I was briefly shown the portal we use for coursework (CIMA) and told to download WhatsApp because that's how we communicate with instructors. Beyond that, I pretty much had to figure things out on my own. I even had to personally ask questions in the group chat because I was confused, and it turned out several other students felt the same way. Eventually we found out there's an orientation every Monday, but nobody clearly explained that upfront. The virtual learning environment has also been frustrating. During online sessions, chats are muted and virtual students can't really ask questions because the instructors are focused on the in-person class. That honestly makes no sense to me considering online students are paying the same tuition as in-person students. It feels like the virtual students are an afterthought. Even submitting homework has been confusing. We use Dropbox, but I was basically just told to "download Dropbox" and had to dig through old chat messages to find the actual submission links and instructions. At this point, I honestly feel unclear every step of the way. I spend more time trying to figure out logistics, apps, links, and expectations than actually focusing on learning. The frustrating part is that these seem like very simple organizational issues that could easily be improved with clearer communication and better onboarding for online students. I'm still early in the program, so I hope things improve over time, and I'm open to updating my review if my experience changes.

I highly HIIIIGHLY recommend BATA to anyone interested in and serious about EMS. Took an 8-week…read morecourse, and it was a blast. Scottie Johnson is a fantastic instructor. I cannot stress how chill and nice he was. The course was taking a toll on my physical and mental health, but Scottie's cheerful optimism kept me going. He truly embodies positive energy and makes lectures so much more bearable. His storytelling and advice were very eye-opening as well. I regret not approaching him for help more often. However, unsurprisingly, it's very rigorous. For anyone looking at an 8-week course, you will spend 20 hours a week: 10 hours on lectures (MW or TTh; 5 hours each) and 10 on skills (Sunday); of course, with breaks in between. Lectures will cover 6 chapters per week, and you will take lecture exams every weekend on the day of your skills instruction. You should be able to dedicate a huge amount of time to reading through the course material (at least 20 hours imo). So please reconsider your decision if you're planning to work or study full-time during the course. Otherwise, give it a shot! Be cool and professional, and most important of all, make sure you have a great time. I promise you, it'll be worth it.

The Bay Area Training Academy (BATA) in Milpitas is an outstanding place to earn your EMT…read morecertification. I just completed the 7.5-week expedited course, and I couldn't be more satisfied with the experience. First and foremost, know this: it's a fast-paced, demanding course, and success requires putting in the work. But if you're serious about learning, BATA provides everything you need to excel--exceptional instructors, hands-on training, and a structured approach that sets you up for real-world success. Scottie, the lead instructor, is one of the best teachers I've ever had. He's knowledgeable, engaging, and has a great balance of keeping the class fun while knowing when to get serious. He truly cares about his students and their success. BATA also brings in a fantastic team of instructors--shoutout to Kyle, Justin, Nadeline, Eric, and Tony--each of whom adds their own expertise and teaching style. With so many instructors, the course feels personal rather than overwhelming, ensuring plenty of one-on-one guidance and hands-on practice. From day one, you can tell that BATA is well-organized and genuinely committed to training top-tier EMTs. They focus on real-world scenarios and practical skills, not just textbook knowledge, which makes a huge difference when preparing for the field. For anyone considering their EMT certification--whether your goal is becoming a first responder or using it as a stepping stone for another route like medical school--you will be in great hands at BATA.

I can't say enough GOOD things about the work they're doing fixing/improving my (BAD) credit score…read more Financial Education Services is the BEST! Honestly my credit was terrible I thought it impossible to turn it around unless I won the Lottery and I don't play so, that's not going to happen. I thought my situation hopeless, doomed to live with the mistakes I'd made with my credit. My daughter told me about FES, how they helped her get her credit repaired. I made the decision to call them about my credit: so happy I did. I'm very excited about the work FES has done and still doing with my credit, I'm seeing results they're GOOD! FES is the way to go! Many THANKS to Ruth VanDerostein and all at Financial Education Services!

I hired Ruth Benjamin's company for trust and financial planning services after being presented…read morewith a strategy that was described as a way to significantly reduce or eliminate capital gains taxes over time. The agreed contract amount was $32,500, but I ultimately paid $32,925. Throughout the engagement, Ruth Benjamin was my primary point of contact and coordinated the involvement of Barry Bruce (TopTaxStrategies, Financial Tax Strategies, and DeferTheGainsTax) and attorney Ryan Woods as part of the overall strategy. I did not independently retain these individuals; they were introduced as part of the services being provided. Unfortunately, my experience did not match the expectations created during the engagement. I became concerned that the services and outcomes did not align with what had been represented, and I also experienced difficulty obtaining clear answers and follow-up regarding my concerns. After repeated attempts to resolve the matter, I was informed that Ruth Benjamin intended to file for bankruptcy and was offered only a partial repayment despite the amount I had paid. Because of my experience, I filed complaints with the appropriate California regulatory agencies so the matter can be reviewed. I encourage anyone considering similar services to carefully review all agreements, verify the qualifications and licensing of everyone involved, and ask detailed questions before proceeding. This review reflects my personal experience.
